Heroes 5 Open Beta: Haven Discussion
This thread is to discuss the Haven Faction in Heroes of Might and Magic 5 Open Beta. Important thing to keep in mind is that many aspects of game balance are not final and will be changed for the final release.
Feel free to post what you think about the Haven town, hero and unit looks, about creature stats and hero special abilities. Also post your favourite strategies of building, exploration and combat. These threads will be linked from Heroes 5 Info Section of Age of Heroes. A new set of threads will be created when the game is released.

I like this town except taht I kind of find the griffon ability cheap sometimes, especially when u can predict where AI is going to move and that's pretty easy...the griffons just do massiv dmg and the grifon comander hero promotes taht asme ability for the unupgraded griffons :S I don't like taht but everything else I have no concern about

I found Castle very boring in HOMM3, but in HOMM5 I like playing haven.
There's a strategic choice about whether to upgrade peasants - income vs better fighters. In fact whether to recruit peasants at all - they need 20 days to pay themselves off. Militiamen are not that strong, but pitchfork bash (stun) is an extremely useful ability, especially with the skill that makes special abilities always trigger.
Marksman is an important upgrade and allows them to do crazy damage from close range.
Footmen are quite tough, once again with stun ability (shield bash). Accumulating a large number of them makes them very strong. Swordsman upgrade gives them a huge hit point increase.
Griffin - usually not that tough because they are not that plentiful. But battle dive ability of their upgrade has some interesting strategic uses, like taking out shooters and spellcasters. Also it's easy for the opponent to forget griffins when they are high in the air, then wham!
So there's great variety and strategy on lower creature levels already. I noticed that without additional income sources upgrading to high level dwellings is not wise. I like that high level dwellings and creatures are hard to build, makes the game more interesting and challenging. Also it's a strategic decision about how high to build up. I think unlike H3, in H5 the victory will not always depend on building the highest levels of creatures.

What is the max number of primary skills that a hero can obtain?
What, in your opinion, would be the best set of primary skills that a knight hero(s) should have and rationales
behide it. Appreciate if you provide a couple of sets.
What is/are the way(s) for knight to encounter/handle the strong magical opponents (in term of knight's skill to be obtained)? Thanksss.

The Archangle has too toyly look/appearance!!! It would be good if it can be modified a bit toward warrior look with some flavour of holy spirit warm. Really need people's support on this. Kindly vote in.

Haven is now my favourite town I always prefered Tower/Academy, but now it has changed.
With Haven you can practically clear all map with just marksmen + swordsmen guarding them.
Training peasants to marksmen can give you hundred or thousands of really great shooters. I have not met a stack that I could not kill with one shot That 10k+ damage rules
And if you take Brem for hero, life is simply beautiful...
