Which is your favorite HOMM game?

People tell me your answer to my question. For me HOMM3 is the best with all of it greatly detailed.

homm 3 is much more complete than 4 and with the WoG *expansion* it becomes unequal in terms of variety of creatures castles artifacts and stuff...

i vote for 3 also even though i like the style of 4 a lot..

I like HOMM3 It is a much more better game than it's previous versions.
I like HOMM3 better than HOMM2 because it has added much more difficulty and it is much more fun to play.
Don't get me wrong HOMM2 was an exceptionally fun game to play in my opinion, but HOMM3 has just upgraded on so many more things and therefore it is a much better and more fun game to play.

Well Heroes of might and Magic 3 improved on a lot of things that the previous 2 didnt have (HOMM1 and HOMM2 for people that didnt know), and it therefore makes it more fun and enjoyable to play.
The Graphics have gotten better since HOMM2, animations from the objects on the map EG:Winmill, better creature animations, better water effects etc.
The combat system in HOMM3 has improved alot since HOMM2.
It is now harder, and you have to make more tactical decisions rather than in HOMM2 you could easily kill the opposition because you could't really do any tactical moves.
Like one of the secondary skills in HOMM3 is Tactics where you get to move your units a set amount of hexes, which is a good skill to have, as you can then make any of your units practically make it to the enemy in one turn.
The sound's have gotten much better.
The replayability is excellent as you never know what to expect and anything could happen.
And also the random map maker with the expansions is an added plus.
The units now look much better, and their animations are coller to watch.
The spell system has been improved alot since the previous versions, with much more spells to cast and the spellbook has been cut up into sections such as: Water spells, Fire spells, Earth spells and Air spells, or you can just view all spells.
The new town types that come with HOMM3 are Inferno, Fortress, Rampart (a little like Sorceress town with unicorn and stuff), and Conflux which is a really cool addition that was brought in with the Heroes 3 expansions, and Dungeon.
There are also much more units that are in the game that you can fight or have in your army (limited to having 7 creature types in your heroes army).
This therefore makes it far more enjoyable to play.
There are also many more artifacts, and also the Combination artifacts which are crucial for your victory.
There is also the new Artifact placeing system (dont know what to call it) where you can pick what artifacts to go to specific parts of the body, instead of picking up artifacts and then after getting maybe about 15 or 20 then yuo can't get anymore artifacts.
In HOMM3 your unused artifacts get stored in your backpack where you can get them and place them somewhere later or you can just keep them in there to either sell or give them to another hero to use.
There are also more hero classes to choose from instead of having Knigh, Sorceress, Wizard, Necromancer, Barbarian.
You now have about 20 or something hero classes to choose from (forgive me if im wrong about this) and it is more fun to play.
All of the heroes have a unique ability, like Solmyr has Chain Lightning as a unique abilty, so he casts Chain Lightning with increased affect and more power.
This is crucial when picking your heroes.

HOMM3 is a much better game to play.

I agree. Heroes III was the best in the series because it added so much content and variety. Lots of creatures, lots of towns, more artifacts, and more additions. Individual heroes having their own specialties didn't hurt either.

HOMM3 with WOG is my favorite, but I wish it also had some features from HOMM4 like creatures being able to travel on the adventure map, and having more than 1 hero in a single army.

Agree with that
HoMM 3 with WoG 3.58f rules...it's the best of them all
Having said that, i just remembered i'm currently playin H4... i love the fact that 6 30 level heroes can clear a map completely, a thing you can never do in H3

Personally, I agree that Heroes 3 is the best version of he heroes-series so far. The looks of the game, the music, the variety of monsters, the possibility to upgrade all monsters, the challenges involved in playing it. It takes the best parts of Heroes 2 and improves them, without including the flaws of the (still highly entertaining) Heroes 4. In the expanded version the better castle defences brings castle defence to perfection. In Heroes 2 the castles didn't really provide enough defence to make a significant difference, in Heroes 3 you can defeat a far greater army than yourself when you are protected by your castle. Nice stuff.

There are only three things that I think were significantly better in Heroes 2 than in Heroes 3, and those three things are;

1. The size and complexity of some of the maps in Heroes 3, having both an underworld and a normal world to conquer, is sometimes a little too much. Sometimes, when you know that you are going to win a scenario easily, it still takes a long, long time to cover all the map and kill all the heroes neccessary to win.
2. I find the Conflux-castle a little unbalanced compared to the others. The sprites are so quick, and have the no-retaliation advantage. You quickly get two great shooters; the storm and the ice elementals. And then you have the magic elementals attacking in all directions at the same time. But most devastating of all: You get 4 phoenixes each week, compared to 2 top monsters in most of the other castle types. And finally, when playing Good To Go, you get the "Aurora Borrealis", giving you all spells available in the game. It's just a bit too good compared to the other castletypes.
3. Worst of all: The rating system is far inferior to that of Heroes 2. Why can they not just let number of days used to complete a scenario combined with scenario difficulty decide the total score? When you have a mission, the best thing to do would be to complete it in the most effective manner possibly, and not waste time on irrelevant things. This was the philosophy behind the rating system in Heroes 2, but in Heroes 3 a lot of other factors also play in. It seriously punishes players with perfected strategy.

But still, Heroes 3 is the best of them all, and thereby also the best pc-game of all time, although the other Heroes-games are great too (and all of them greater than Heroes 3 in some areas).

I just can't wait until I get my hands on Heroes 5.

H3.

It's kept me interested for so many years, and that was even without the random generator which I got a version with it just a year ago!  Now I can again enjoy the game with renewed interest.

my fav is HOMM3 WITHOUT WOG... (somehow i just dun like modifications on wog, it's un-HOMM-ish), agree that some of them are needed, but most just aren't. On that note, the only thing too powerful about conflux is maybe the production of Phoenixes at 4, it should be 3.
With the other creatures, sprites only have 3 health, implosion (woops, thats a legion of them gone >.<, storm elementals are strong, and ice elementals are slightly weaker than storms, but still good. the DOWNSIDE of creatures is the disappointing energy and magma elementals, (in other words, they are useless, and shouldn't be a part of any army, unless desperate). Magic Elementals have the nice ability to attack all adjacent enemies without retaliation, but they are immune to all spells, a double edged sword, can't get imploded, but u can't resurrect them AND they hace some crappy health like 80...i'd rather not upgrade them at all...

I think heroes 3 is the best. The heroes chronicles series in particlar. Tarnum's the best. Anyone agree?

But to give Heroes 4 a word, I really enjoyed the improved graphics and the fact heroes can take part (shame Tarnum wasn't playable)

Got to say my favourite at the moment is Heroes 4. This is mainly cos I've been playing Heroes 3 for about 6 years now and hence Heroes 4 is a refeshing change. Heroes taking part in combat is a great element and I like the creatures more in Heroes 4 than to Heroes 3. The skills system seems to be more specialised as well.

Though I've got to say that overall Heroes 3 is my favourite. It had a greater variety of towns and is just an all round classic.
