Calculation of defence reduction by Ancients? (HoMM3)

Who has tested this?
Does the Ancient Behemoth just lower the opponent creature defence or also the extra defence gained from its commanding hero?

If a hero contributes an extra 9 defence to my Royal Griffins original 9, does an attack by the Ancients calculate the A/D difference with D = 10.8 or D = 3.6?And what rounding is applied?

Isnīt this quite easy to test by yourself?
Needs about 1.5 minutes i guess...

OK, so the noobie get out the map editor and tests himself....

And the result is clear indeed. The ancient behemoths lower all defence by 80%. 6 came from the gnolls who got the beating, 2 from their defensive stance, 8 from the hero and 3 from basic stone skin. 20% of 19 makes 3.8 defence against the 19 attack by the ancients. With 15 A/D advantage the maximum base damage of 50 comes out at an actual damage of 88 (87,5 rounded up). Shield was clearly better than Stone Skin under these circumstances. But that's another discussion.

BTW, the weakness spell has the same effect on A/D as stone skin but costs more mana and belongs to water magic, a school less frequently persued by aspiring magic heroes. But against Ancient Behemoths there would be a noticeable difference. So when fighting them expert armorer skill, the shield spell and then weakness could really help limit the pain.

So thank you Angelito for not testing yourself. At least I've gotten a first impression of test map building.
