Expansion pack proposal...

Hello everyone. I'm working on some ideas for new towns and creatures in HoMM4. I know it may seem a bit early for for this, but I don't think so. I have read other peoples ideas on this board an have included some. Primary the fact that many already are missing the good old HoMM3 creatures. Now my idea was five new towns with an alignment between the excisting five (doesn't count Stronghold). Like the 2-colours gold cards in Magic: The Gathering. This would say that the Order/Life town lies between Academy and Haven and has both order and life magic. Here are my proposals:


Order/Life
Hero: -
Level 1: Gremlin (shooter) (water multiply) (hate imps)
Level 1: Gnome (walker) (repair mechanical units)
Level 2: -
Level 2: Dragon Slayer (walker) (hates red, black and rust dragons)
Level 3: Enchanter (shooter) (beneficial spellcaster) (upgrades from magi and monks)
Level 3: Magic Elemental (teleporter) (spell immunity)
Level 4: Giant (walker) (hate black dragons) (+2 team morale)
Level 4: Silver Dragon (flyer) (nature, chaos and death spell immunity)


Life/Nature
Hero: Druid
Level 1: Boar (walker)
Level 1: -
Level 2: Elf Knight (walker) (death ward) (first strike)
Level 2: Sharpshooter (shooter) (no wall penalty) (upgrates from crossbowmen and elves) (trained by Gelu...)
Level 3: Pegasi (flyer) (magic damper)
Level 3: Dendroid (walker) (binding attack)
Level 4: Forest Elemental (walker) (summon obstacle) (not a visible part of the army on the adventure map)
Level 4: Gold Dragon (flyer) (chaos, death and order spell immunity)


Nature/Chaos
Hero: Witch
Level 1: Anaconda (walker) (50% paralyze attack)
Level 1: Lizardman (shooter) (20% poison attack)
Level 2: Dragon Fly (flyer) (weakness)
Level 2: Basilisk (walker) (40% petrify attack)
Level 3: Troll (walker) (regeneration)
Level 3: Wyvern (HC member) (50% poison attack)
Level 4: Rust Dragon (flyer) (acid breath)
Level 4: Giant Spider (walker) (hate and binds flying creatures)


Chaos/Death

Level 3: Gorgon (walker) (10% death stare)
Level 3: Manticore (flyer) (hate gold and silver dragons)
Level 4: Dread Knight (walker) (undead) (hate champions) (first strike)
Level 4: Red Dragon (flyer) (1-3 level spell immunity)


Death/Order
Hero: Necromancer
Level 1: Giant Bat (flyer)
Level 1: Bone Golem (walker) (undead) (strikes twice) (60% resistance)
Level 2: Dark Elf (shooter) (hate elves)
Level 2: Mummy (walker) (undead) (curse attack)
Level 3: Djinn (flyer) (hostile spellcaster)
Level 3: Death Mercenary (walker) (50% double damage)
Level 4: Grim Reaper (teleporter) (animate dead)
Level 4: Sphinx (flyer) (no enemy retaliation) (50% curse attack)


The Order/Life town is a Castle and Tower mix added the silver dragon, which has immunity to the opposite magic schools. The dragon slayer is a knight who has specialized in fighting the evil dragons (real dragons, not faerie, bone or mechanical). The gremling is shooting water balls.

The Life/Nature town brings some old Rampart creatures back and introduces the forest elemental. It's a part of the forest, controls the forest and looks like the forest. Like this one:



Like the silver dragon, the gold dragon are imune to the opposite spell schools. The druid can also summon smaller woodland creatures.

The Nature/Chaos town is the new Fortress, which have specialized in poisoning and weaking enemies, and the giant spider is very usefuld against flying creatures. Also the troll has finally found a great home there.

As a Necropolis and Dungeon mix, the Chaos/Death town is home of the manticore and red dragon. It has three undead creatures and fit the chaos theme as well. The manticore are specially made to kill good dragons. The liontaur is a spellcaster and looks like the centaur:




The Death/Order town are the dark version of Academy and has two undead creatures. But contrary to other evil towns, this one is not chaotic. The civilized dark elves make sure everything is organized, and the mummy, sphinx and djinn (evil cousin of genie) could easily give this town an Egyptian/Middle Eastern theme. The grim reaper has


Now, what do you people think? It would be great if someone has ideas for creatures, abilities, names of the new towns, new neutral creatures etc...

It's very interesting......

.... considering it's based on the fact that Heroes is becoming the video game version of Magic:the Gathering.  I think you need more unique creatures.  Death Sprite is just a creature already in the game with a new name.  The Giant Spider is a good idea, though (even if it from Magic).  

Personally, I think the new town type (I think there will only be one town) will be the Forge town.  That way they don't need to create a new magic type, instead it would just be tech.  This would also fit in with the Artifact cards in Magic.  I think they will go for the Forge Town again.

For those that don't know, the Forge town was a future town that was going to be in Heroes 3: Armageddon's blade before too many complaints caused them to cancel it and make the Conflux town.

You may be right, but I think 3do will start working with it just after the game has been released (or earlier?), and my proposal is not so conserned about the game features and details...

LordPaul, I know I haven't considered some few creatures much, and maybe the death sprites are a bad idea (what creature should it be then?).
I think the Forge town could also work with my system aswell... As a new neutral town without magic and the opposite of Stronghold (were Stronghold is based on natural strengt, the Forge town will be its technical counterpart). That will make 6 new towns and about 48 new creatures... (what creatures will be in Forge?)

I don't think it's likely we will get five new towns in an expansion pack.

Much more likely we will get only one new town in the Stronghold cast. Since the magic is built up in a way that you can't add one new school wihtout disrupting the symmetri, I believe we will get a new might town. Though, likely it will have something else than a Breeding Pit replacing the Mage Guild.

What about a Giant Bat instead of the Death Sprite? It will be similar to the Vampire but much weaker. And that Liontaur sounds good. But why shooter? I imagine it biting the enemies, with what can it shoot?

I'll change the death sprites... About the liontaur, I saw Incubus posting a cool pick of one. I made it a shooter cause the chaos/death town doesn't have any other! (I thought: centaur (shooter) = liontaur (shooter), but I'm probably wrong...) What do you, Wyvern, think about the nature/chaos town? I thought you would like it...

2 things:


1) I think they will only add one new town (of course, they didn't add any for Shadow of Death).

2) They probably will take a month off, then start on the expansion pack after seing how Heroes 4 sells.

Well, I'm sure you're right, but if I make this proposal REALLY good and send it to 3do, they may use it, or some of it (am I to naive there?) Incubus also sent me some ideas/changes for the towns... I'll work on it...

Well, Perserver, glad to see some of my ideas. The ghoul eating killed enemies is neat, I would have never thought of that. The Sphinxes sound cool, and the Silver Dragon is a great idea. Overall, a realy great job.

I like the Sphinx too. The 50% curse thing it's based on this fact:
Sphinxes are special because they like riddles. They could ask you a riddle, and then you have 50% change of good or wrong answer. When wrong you be cursed.
The other ability I got from your D&D post of course...

You mean as a neutral town (it doesn't fit into the magic circle i think...). It could be Strongholds counterpart instead of Forge (I never liked that town)... Well maybe I'll do it...

I really like the Nature/Chaos town! But you're right, there has to be a shooter in the Chaos/Death town. Hmm... But since you have made the Liontaur a spellcaster, he can shoot. So no problems here!

I like the idea of a sea town instead of the Forge. The Forge was a stupid idea the first time. I certainly do not want to see ANY technical towns in Heroes of Might and Magic. If 3DO HAS to make a Forge town, they should make a new game called "Lawyers of Papers and Paychecks".

Here's my version of the forge town

My forge town is a mechanical-magic type of town. The creatures are mostly artifact creatures e.g automatons(just like in Magic the Gathering) and the builders of these automatons are gnomes. This town's magic is called "artificial magic" opposed to "nature magic". If anyone have played "Arcanum", this town uses the similar design with the arcanum's steam technology a la Europian revolution technology.

Here's the creatures:

Level 1: Gremlins/Gnomes(equipped with a blunderbuss)
Dwelling: tree factory/magic workshop

Level 2: Tin Man(Wiz of Oz-esque)/Automaton(saw-throwing spider like engine)
Dwelling: foundry/ machine shop

Level 3: Drone (a repairing automaton)/ Pyromaton(a fire breathing dragon-like engine)
Dwelling: metal Gears/ fire forge

Level 4: Omnithopter(bomb dropping winged bycycle/ Talos(just like in Jason and the Argonauts, based on Greek Myth where a bronze statue constructed by hephaestus to defend an island, heated itself to "hug" enemies to toast)
Dwelling: sky dome/ hephaestus' Anvil

The heroes of these town will be Artificier and mechanist.

So how's my idea?

Don't you people get it? Technology does NOT belong in HOMM. It didn't before, and it never will! NOW I know why 3DO decieded to blow up Erathia for Heroes 4! They started work on it at about the same time as they had almost completed the Forge town. They wnated to blow up Erathia because even THEY thought technology would be very unbalancing! With technology, what's the use of magic? What's the point of even keeping the other towns around if technology is available!?! Like I said before, if 3DO HAS to make a technical town, they should make a new game called "Lawyers of Paper and Paychecks"! If 3DO makes a tech town, I simply will never play Heroes again!

Don't you read my idea? My forge town is actually a mechanical-magic based town. It's not about stupid  cybernetic futuristic stuff but it's about ARTIFACTS. Most of the creatures in the town are either golems or artifact creatures. In Magic the Gathering they have creatures like the Pyrexian Hulk which is actually a hunk of metal being imbued with magical life. I have even specially put the Talos from greek mythology.

Well...I'm just giving out ideas...it's up to you wanted to agree or not.

i like your towns for the most part, preserver...

but the liontaur seems a bit... of a stretch maybe.

also, you should change "big snake" to asp... it sounds classier.
