From regular (not combo) artefacts I prefer Boots of speed.
From combo ones I prefer that I can get easily -> Elixir of life, Wizards well, Cloak of undead king and one which I'm most likely to have on random maps -> Armor of Damned.

Yes I agree with you on some of the artifacts.
Wizards well is alright.
Cloak of the Undead King is really good, and the Elixer of Life is one of the best.
The only problem with the Elixer of life is that it doesnt work on the undead creatures or non-living creatures which can be bad.
But you can get a unit that you have, you can get the health from 200 to say 321 for example.
It is excellent and the other combo artifact that you mentioned the Armour of the Damned is also a really good one and pretty easy to get.

A little question about the elixsir of life...people say that it does not work on the undead and mechanical creatures, but is it only regeneration that dosen't work or does it also effect hp boost?

I remember using cloak of the undead king and I agree with most people here, that if you do happen to attain it and are a necromancer with expert necromancy you are pretty much the strongest hero possible. So in those specific circumstances it is the best artifact.. however, it's not simply just recruiting a necro hero out of the tavern when you get it. Because by that time, all heroes on the map would be too high of a level and too experienced that recruiting a level 1 necromancer will not help you anywya. Although with such a powerful artifact, spending the initial 2500 and training the hero anyway possible could still be beneficial (it's that good of an artifact!).
Let us not forget about Angel's wings (serious advantage on map, flying over the mountains) and The wizard's hat (that lets you instantly know and use all 5th level magic spells!! Just like magic). These at the moment are my favorite non-combined artifacts.

Boots of speed?? It's good dont'get me wrong, and so is esquestrian's gloves. HOwever, Angel's wings are superior to these two!!

The Regeneration and the HP boost dont work on the undead or non-living creatures, sorry to tell you that

The Legion statue is good, but it takes up all of the room in your misc artifact slots.
You could of had the Drgons blood there or the Elixer of life.
I admit that it is really good but takes up to much room in my opinion.

Legion Statue should not be carried by the main hero - it should be given to a garrison hero in some of your most important towns instead (to get the additional boost from all parts of the Statue).
The ultimate combo artifact is, of course, the Cloak of the Undead King. It makes very difficult maps like The Lord of War easy (let us imagine 25k+ Liches in all 7 slots... I had had even more but it caused some problems so my hero had thrown some of them into Sacrificial Altar).
My favourite single artifact is the Angel Wings, closely followed by Tome of Earth, Tome of Air and Helm of Heavenly Enlightement. But if Armageddon's Blade is allowed, it is even stronger.

The Angelic Alliance is the best combo artifact in increasing primary skills.
Cloak of the Undead King is the best combo artifact for Getting bigger armies really easily.
Statue of Legion is for increasing growth rates and should be carried not by your main hero.
Elixer of life is for increasing the health or hit points of your units in your army.
And the others are for their main things

Armageddon's Blade is the best for winning battle.
Angel's Wings is the best for revealing maps and treasure hunting.
