Non-HOMM Question for workers

We're having an interesting discussion in my office about how many days of vacation have workers in other countries (of course, always trying to see if the grass is greaner in other places). Here in Spain the legal vacation period is 22 laborable days. It will help a lot if some of you post a short answer here saying how many days can you escape from you jobs and the country you work in.

Thanks in advance

Interesting thread!

Well here in Canada, there's like 20 Days off a year, but I'm not really sure coz instead of me taking my vacation for free, I'd rather get paid cash for my vacation!

In USA it's 14 days after you have been with the company for atleast 6 months.  Those include sick days.  Days like New Years, Christmas/Christmas Eve, Thanksgiving, and Labor Day don't count (read: Holidays).

Of course, being a student I've never had a manager-like position.

No wonder you european countries are such underachievers.  Put your backs to it and get busy.  You are going to have to start working on your lunch breaks and on Sundays for a few years to make up for it.  I thought the USA was considered the lazy/fast-food eating country.

And I think you will have to start another world war...and this time try and help out a bit.  Thanks.

interesting

Mostly its based upon the company you work for here in the USA.  ALot of my friends are Welders and Pipefitters and they get 0 time off all year.

I however get 11 days of paid vacation along with the 7 or so paid holidays at my current job.  ALso the longer you work at one place the more vacation you typically get.  After next year i will get another week of vacation or a total of 16 days per year.

really? hum... I've been in USA for two years - and worked one year in one company - and now nearly one more in another - but they didn't say so... huh.... but I can come whenever i want on work - i came about 10 or 11 o'clock - and work how much i want (and finish the goals) - but at least to be 4-5 years simulatenously with the other people from the team.

To Seiken

I'm from Pamplona, but I came to Valladolid about nine years ago to study Computer Sciencie at the university. I found a job as software engineer/developer just when I finished and I'm still here... although I don't know how long will I stay. Good job opportunities seems to be only in the big cities: Madrid, Barcelona,... maybe Valencia?

I've been in the HOMM world since 1996 so I suppose I'm a veteran (have some Archangel ratings out there). I'm a little tired of the game right now, but I'll be back in business as soon as HOMM4 hit the shelves.

First at all, I work to live, but I don't live to work. I specially don't live to work for an enterprise that gains millions with my efforts (and those of my companions, of course) and is willing to fire us out at the first sign of losses danger.

About the fast food.... over seven millions of british tourists comes to Spain every summer to taste what you call "fast food": those marvelous pieces of the finest gastronomic art I eat every day in my coffee break. And the UK is only one country in the world... But I don't need to apologize: just come here and you'll never enjoy again what you find in your Burger King.

And the World War question is over for me. There's always been people ambitious and loathsome enough to play "Heroes" with real people only for money, power and glory, and your country isn't exactly an exception.
