yeah, judging by system req' it looks like your reading off the
original H5 or HoF requirments cause toe is higher but....
any version of xp should work, basically nothing prior to 2000 though and if you have something prior to 2000, seriously you need a need OS and probably computer too lol 
* i also used vista with H5 and HoF, both worked fine on vista home premium though it is not listed as supported.../ toe lists vista for support

im also wondering, ive been looking through the previous posts about good video cards that run the game very well without spending a lot and
all i see is posts prior to Toe, those posts may be innacurate too a certain degree now because of the higher system requirements and recommendations stated for Toe
I have core 2 duo E6400 ( 2.13 ghz )
2gb ddr2-sd ram
256mb ati radeon pro x1300 ( there lies the weaker point lol )
basically the only problem i have is i get annoyed and tired of waiting for AI turns when theres like 5+ players and even just like 3 on xlarge+ maps....
what is a good video card that doesnt cost all too much and will run Toe very well and actually make xlarge+ maps not take all day
im thinking probably an Nvidia 512mb or dual-core 512(SLI) or dual 512's? anyone recommend something?

i just got the game heroes 5,and i could not get it to work, then i realized it needs a video card,what else does it need?

well basically thats what you need.... a video card
since your talking about original h5, id get a 256mb card because it'll be of more use and able to play toe if you decide to get it.
then just as long as your processor is good enough and have enough ram ( i would recommend atleast 1gb ram ) the card tops of necessary list lol....
* when u install, make sure you install directX 9.0 from the heroes disc, i already had 9.0 so i didnt and the game wouldnt run till i installed from the disc, so do it anyway
cant think of anything else off the top of my head that you'd need

if youve got money to spend on a video card and stuff then....
id recommend 512 video card just because basically, can find decent ones that dont cost too much and itll do more for heroes 5 and whatever else youll get into while saving a wasted purchase on a 256mb
but 256's work, thats what i got and i said earlier in a post...
i just dont like waiting for AI turns and stuff when theres more than a few players and even just a few players on the really big maps..

igot about $1000,but if my parents find out they are gonna kill me.lol (usually im limited at playing games,only 1h a weak,and i play wow usually,i buy this game bacause they are much more unlikely to find out,since wow is onling,my parents can check anytime.)

I encountered a curious problem with ToTe.
Me and my friend tried to play ToTe on LAN. The game allowed us to get into the lobby, and let us do the game. The game loaded as usual, but when the game actually started, it immediately told us that the other player was disconnected. We both had the game still running, but the town, which was supposed to be otherīs, was unoccupied. Tried several times with different settings, but always the same thing.
My computer is a regular table computer with Windows XP, and my friendīs computer is a laptop with Windows Vista. We used Wireless connection. Both ToTe`s were installed from the same disc(purchased from a shop, not pirate version).
Please, somebody help!

I dont have any mods installed, nor fan made maps ( I keep them in another folder ). Hamachi ( for me is 1.0.1.5 ) I dont know if jon had that too though ( I am almost certain that he has - Jon, get in here and verify though  )
- What I do know is that jon has made a few minor threads asking for a HoF game, and in the wee hours of last night , I wasen't sure to wether I should tell him to re-install the whole shabang - because he had/has some HoF mods or not. Hence I routed him to Elvin and Nevemindspy for tech help.

Hey guys, I hope you can help me here.
When I first got TOTE a few weeks ago, it ran fine. IT still runs really smoothly most of the time, but every once in awhile it will completely freeze up my PC. I can't even hit CTR+ALT+DEL to reboot it!
The only thing I've done recently is install Heroes V the original base game, but then I uninstalled it later. Has anyone else heard of this problem?
Here are my system specs
AMD Athlon 64 3800+ 2.41 ghz
2.00 Gb of ram
I don't remember how to find my graphics card info, but I know it's really good and it's Nvidia something
Also, I have WindowsXP, service pack 2

I am posting this here as this is a 'computer problem' though related to this forum rather than the game itself. A year back I had registered to get emails from this thread as I was having problems and wanted to track replies. Since then, my problems are solved and I dont want to get emails from this thread any more. But I dont remember how to get emails from a thread or remove getting emails on a thread. Any help will be greatly appreciated

Never-ending "Temptation"
Help! I have encountered a problem with the HoF "Temptation" scenario, downloaded from Age of Heroes and played on TotE. I can't seem to trigger a victory although I'm pretty sure I won.

...for what a spoiler warning is worth.  Anyway, I ran a lap around the lake, jumped through some hoops, went underground, and fought a big bad boss. The boss spawned after a cutscene and attacked me. I won the ensuing battle. My hero leveled. My hero poked around the boss's little cave. Nothing. My hero got bored, so he went back upstairs. Nothing up there either, and the one-way portal didn't allow access back into the main map area. Maybe I missed something in the cave, so my hero took the stairs underground again. Ta-da...The boss respawned with exactly the same cutscene and exactly the same army! Oops. Undead indeed. 
The victory condition is to "find Cyrus's resting place" or similar. It never got fulfilled. I thought the cave should qualify. The cutscene certainly sounded like a final showdown (with extra cheese). I tried the scenario on a different computer, different download, same result. Did I miss some important event or trigger point? Is it a version conflict?
Specs: Both computers are running TotE on Win XP. First comp has sufficent resources for good performance; the second plays painfully. The mod line-up includes Xazardous's UI mods (and his in-game skill wheel), a no-animation menu page, and hero/campaign unlock mods. The second computer also has a treant mod, but no treants were harmed in the second run.

try
1. go in "my computer" or what ever it is called in english.
2. right click on the cd icon and choose open(not the upper one)
3. find setup file in the folder.
4. if it is there, try to run it. If it is not there, tell us how you get the game

It's all about the 2.1 patch. How the hell i'm supposed to instal it when there's no crack in(very smart, make good patches and then don't put crack in  ) can u tell me where i can find one WITH crack this time?

Running HoMM 5 under Linux>>Ubuntu turns to be surprisingly easy.
Follow the instructions for running oblivion under Linux, if you haven't fixed the wine settings.
Get d3d9x_25.dll the same way the oblivion guide tells you to get d3d9x_27.dll in the "DirectX DLL For Missing Symbols"
If you get an 0x80030070 error when trying to install like I did, just keep telling it to install (mine took about 20 tries) and it'll go away.
Everything works, I have no movie lag, or anything, however when I use the camera adjuster it adjusts very slowly, so you have to turn mouse sensitivity up.

mine didnt even work i have an intel graphic car 128, its not supported but doesnt anyone know how to fix this issue, i once did make it work on heroes v, but i need to make it work in heroes v ToE. please help
