guys I have a huge problem:

Im playing the first Zehir Campaign in TotE, heroic mode.

The problem is that often, when an enemy hero retreats, the game crashes just after I press the ON in the afterbattle screen.

Now, I have a much weaker army...so I need to make the usual hide in castle and break his catapult trick....however, as son as the enemy retreats the game crashes!!

What can I do??

EDIT: I made an attempt at using the shackless of war...and afer the battle it still crashes...

PC Configuration: Sempron 3.6, Geforce 512Mb Videoboard, 2Gb RAM, 160Gb + 80Gb HDs, Operational system: Windows XP.

Dear fellow players of HOMM, for a week now im experiencing an error which constantly shows up when my profile is being rewritten. The whole deal started happening after I upgraded my PC (got new motherboard, processer, Videoboard and 1 extra Gb RAM).

That basically means that whenever I end a mission or start a new one, game crashes to the desktop with the following annoying notice:

So Im stuck at the third warlock mission of HOMMV vanilla: The cultists.

Evil thing is that I had the game for 1 year already but my former computer wouldnt run it properly. Now that I finally got the new chipset I see it run smoothly but still cant PLAY it.

Measures tried:
*Reinstalled the game several times (in both HDs)
*Tried with different game versions (1.4 - 1.41 - 1.5 - 1.6)
*Tried different color schemes and video resolution (from the game itself and Windows)
*Tried downloading MOD to unlock all campaigns and scenarios
*Tried reconfiguring RAM distribution

And obtained no success whatsoever. I am desperate about it and I am considering even to report this failure to Ubisoft.

Do you guys have any idea what is going on?

Thanks for your attention,

W.

P.S - Sorry about the system notice being in portuguese.

You need to give a little more info. Mainly Processor type, Graphic Card, amount of RAM and perhaps even available Hard Drive memory.

I feel like one of hundreds, and i appreciate any help.  My problem is as such with TotE:

Last night I completed Father sky's Fury.  I loaded the next map "Mother Earth's Wisdom" to check it out a little bit before i started it for real.  Now today, when I go to the campaign selection screen, it pukes when i click on the "to honor our fathers" chapter of the campaigns.  I tried loading one of my auto saves from the end of the father sky map, it loads, i play, watch teh ending cut scene then the game dies again.

Another odd thing, the prologue (murder of crows) has disappeared from the campaign selections.  the only chapters i have to select are:

will of asha
honor our fathers
flying to the rescue

I created a whole new profile, and everything comes back to normal, i have all 4 chapters to select; but when I reload my main profile, I can only see the last 3 chapters again, then again, i try to select "to honor our fathers" and the game crashes.

How can i fix this or is there anything i can do to get around it? (i.e. does anyone have any save games that start with Mother Earths Wisdom?)

That looks like either graphic's problem (maybe check that your graphs card is in requirments?) or rare game error, check graphs first then if that dosent work try reninstalling.

bad fps in Heroes 5

Quote:

Then I upgraded to Geforce 6600GT 128MB and the difference was incredible..It seems that for HOMM5 you do not need a fancier graphics card.

Well, not in my case...

For testing purposes, I always start the first campaign mission for Hammers of fate, and just leave the picture for FRAPS to count.

What ever I do, the fps dont go above 48 fps. As soon as I start to move the camera the fps drop to UNPLAYABLE/HEADHURTING 20-30 fps.

Even if I turn all graphics option to max, or leave it off, it makes no difference. I use full AA/AF/Eyecandy at 1024x768 and the fps is 46-48 fps. If I go down to 640x480 and no AA/AF/Eyecandy, it STILL reads 46-48 fps!

The only thing that makes any changes is to go 1600x1200. Then the fps reads 29-30.

It dos not help to overclock the GPU or the CPU

I tried to use the Nvida control panel/Ntune to find the max settings for the card, but after 3 hours nothing happened.
I am going to set individual setting for Heroes 5 in the same control panel. Much work, so if anyone can help, please let me know

Pentium4 2.5 Ghz

Cannot Install Heroes V!

Hello everyone!

this is my first time here and I have a problem...

I am a big fan of the Heroes of might and magic series. I have played all of them and enjoyed them a lot.

Now I have bought myself a new PC and want to install all my heroes games... I installed all of them without issue untill I tried too install Heroes V.

When I insert the disc nothing happens. The HoMMV disc can't be read.
If I insert it the computer will try to read it again and again and again... but nothing happens. I can't even luanch manually... so I can't install it... What may be wrong?

Here is my PC specs, if it makes any sense:

CPU: Intel Core 2 quad Q6600 2.40GHz 2.40GHz
RAM: 3069MB
O/S: Windows Vista Home Premium edition 32-bit
Graphics Card: GeForce 8800 GTX

Thanks for any replies

So you cant explore the DVD manually ?

You have found the DVD station in "My Computer", right clicked, Explore, and nothing happends ??

If the above works, you can install by clicking the AutoRun icon (two of them. both cross with wings)

OR, you can click the SETUP icon.

If this is not possible, the Heroes 5 DVD/or the dvd station is kaputt. Clean it, return to seller or set it on fire, you decide

hehe... I have tried that....

but the dvd shouldn't be kaputt...

there is almost no scratsh at all or anything, and the same dvd worked fine on my other computer and the "dvd station" (or what ever it is called in english) shouldn't be broken either.... Because it has worked fine with every dvd I've put in there exept from these three discs, and my PC is 2 months old so I have at least put in enought dvds to see that the dvd station isn't broken... I have the HoMMV Gold edition, Btw... ^^

I read about this problem in another forum. they think it is because the copy protection on the discs thinks that the dvd station wants to copy the discs, and therefor won't let it read them...... Any idea how to get around the problem?

I think I got a older DVD drive then you, but it reads the original H5 and the Add-on DVD with out any problems.

But sometimes the auto DVD feature fails to work. No matter the game. But then again you should be able to manually explore the dvd...

Return the DVD to the seller if new and scratch free, and let them try it.
