How would I go about randomly generating a map that would allow me to select races and still be something like 2v2v2v2.

Does that have something to do with the codes that can be put in for custom... can't remember what ti is, but there's an option for custom codes.

Magnakor,

Very soon will be released next version of RTMG

http://heroescommunity.com/viewthread.php3?TID=31008&pagenumber=1

this version will offer a lot of new options such the possibility to make teams between players.

RTMG will be the only present program being able to make team in random maps.

That's awesome, but there's one more wrench to throw into the mix. I have Heroes V through STEAM, and it doesn't like the executable. Going to try something real quick though. Nope, can't direct it to the shortcut for the game, since there's no true executable per-se.

So, it's been few months now, I'm wondering, has there been a fix for my issue from last page?

Quote:
Hey, I have the same problem as Nekron on page 26.
I'm playing Hammer of Fate, when I create randomly generated map (1on1), after a while, one or two enemy heroes start lagging extremely badly, this happens mainly later in the game when they accumulate large amount of armies. When I kill him everything goes back to normal, but it's frustrating as sometimes it takes time to find that hero and turns can take 5-10 minutes(!!!).

Is there any solution to this? I don't think it's my PC, it's 4ghz core i7, 12gb ddr3 and GTX295.

The game is completely unplayable for me, since I only play randon generated maps vs AI.
Are developers completely ignoring a (very important & broken part of their game?
Heroes 3 doesn't have this issue.

You shouldn't, custom maps are where it's at. Ubi maps are badly designed, poor and unbalanced.

Report on my installation of Win7-64bit.

I just, last weekend, fully clean installed Windows 7 in x64 format. And, finalized all renewal of the newest drivers for my entire hardware(other than the DVD drive and the HDD + internal AMD made chipset of the Mainboard).

Here is what I discovered :
1. When I clean installed it, only the directory folder of Windows 7-RC was obliterated. All x86 folders were kept in the original x86 Program Files directory folder. One snag, though, it fully cleaned out the original registry keys and, erased all non-Microsoft oriented applications/programs/games.

2. It made itself a Program Files folder for anything that is x64(bit). So, anything new for this year, in utilities and internet security is, obviously 64bit oriented. But, will, recognize the x86 P.F. folder anyway.

3. When installing HoMM5: T.o.t.E. + patch and, tried to play it afterwards, ran even better than before. Re-downloaded the extra maps and, checked if there was any problems. None what-so-ever. Note: installed it in the x86 folder just like as if the x64 one was, still, non existent. Done the same for all the other x86 based games. No problems and glitches what-so-ever. BTW: Code for the special characters within Little-Fighter 2 character selection screen is: lf2.net(has to be typed in even though it does not show itself on the screen anywhere)And, a little music of recognition will play auto. Enjoy playing Julian, everyone.

Just did, as of right now, re-downloaded Tales of Karador Modification file. Hope it will install itself correctly. Might have to redirect its main file to the x86 P.F. folder for that, the installer, can, fully, recognize the original installation of HoMM5.

P.S. Anyone doing this clean install onto Win. Vista x86 might not have so much luck at keeping its older x86 P.F. folder, though. Might have to use the 32bit disk, first, to upgrade to Win.7 32bit(x86). Then, from there, do the clean install to Win.7 x64 with the 64 bit disk(both disk formats are, now, included, in the full retail packaged box). This method will gradually enable you to slowly but surely, with time, make the transition from the 32bit world to the 64bit world that, we, in large majority, are still living in.

Well, that seems to be it, for now. Read you all, as time progresses, slowly and consistently.

Installed H5 on my new Vista laptop; and was very happy that it worked (was the 1st of four games I tried that worked on Vista)

But I also like making maps but I found out the editor doesn't work

When I try to save nothing happens (tho it looks like the editor is saving, no save file is created)

When I try to load or save as the editor crashes

I have both original Heroes v1.4 and Tribes of the East v3.1
and I have the same problem in both cases

Hope you can help me out,
Thanks in advance

Edit: Managed to resolve this myself tho I have no idea how I have done it. Editor looks crap now and is still not comfortable but I can save at least

Follow-up onto my previous post.

Here is what happens with Microsoft greedy-like cheapness:

1. Offers you a nice new package of two disks for the two types of the same O.S.

2. Activation key(Product Key) works for both 32bit and 64bit. One huge detail they have forgotten to tell us all. It is IF using 32bit OR IF using 64bit formats. So, turns out, IF you use the 64bit one, the 32bit one becomes as good as trash. Vice-Versa is also the same problem.

3. Still can install the 32bit one, on the older un-upgradable machine to 64bit(DDR1 based, ancient mainboard). One snag, though, you will have to call in to Microsoft for another Product/License/Activation Key for it.

My general inquiry to everyone here: How does it cost for such Key? And, does anyone did so already?

Answers and advices are quite welcome, no rush for them, thanks.

You can install 32-bit on any machine whatsoever, all processors have 32-bit mode and even 16-bit mode (you know, two decades in the past compatibility). In fact all processors start with 16-bit mode and the BIOS is in 16-bit mode.

@Death does what he said conflict with what you said? I translate what he said as "some machines cannot be upgraded to 64-bit but can be to 32-bit".

@Luc I bought win 7 64-bit.  I don't remember 32-bit being an option or "in the package".

Been Playing HOMMV since 2008 or so.  I had to reinstall my operating system a while ago, and I am only recently reinstalling my version of HOMMV from the 4-5 CD Disk original version.  The only hiccup was that I had to copy the immage of one of the disks to the desktop in order to get it to install correctly, but it seemed to install fine.

I played for a couple weeks then decided to get new maps and install the patches.  I patched the game to 1.6 without a problem, and continued to play.  I decided to get the two expansions so I bought the collectors version that has 2x DVD with all 3 games on it.  I installed the two expansions without any problems and continued to play.

I noticed sometime after the installation of the expansions that the some of the Heroes are not working correctly.  There are several special heroes (the ones without horses) that do not display picture icons in the adventure map, also, Deirdre (The necro hero) is using Naadir's picture, and Naadir's special ability does not even work. In the game I cannot get ghosts when the creatures die.  There are also a couple Necro heroes that do not start with Necromancy, and some don't even have raise dead at the start.

I thought something got corrupted with the game, so I decided to uninstall the whole game and start over.  I uninstalled all three games, and reinstalled from just the new DVD version that I bought, but after patching to 1.6, the problems with the Heroes are still there.

I have looked at these help threads for a long time, and I have not found anything that is similar.  Can someone point me to a thread that discusses this kind of problem, or offer some other solution?  I am not sure how to fix this.

That I hear for the first time, however I wouldn't concern myself with the original H5. Why not play tribes of the east instead? Original is obsolete in every possible way.

Thanks, I am just playing the original Campaign right now.  I will check to see if the problems exist in the other versions as well tonight.  I just finished the Necro campaign, and I am starting the Warlock.  As I understand it, the campaigns in the expansions are not the same.

I will check later tonight.

Installation/uninstallation problems? Read up, Please.

In order to fix the many, often nagging, problems of Microsoft Windows of any version, use an utility program other than the tune-up ones offered in the Internet Security packages of today.

Here is the link to such programs(completely free of use):

Iobit.com's download page of such utility program

Here is the link to a not-so-free of use and, extremely recommended by myself for a thorough Microsoft O.S. fixer-upper:

Iolo.com's System Mechanic's weekly updated/upgraded utility program

Believe me on this. You will be amazed with all the errors these programs will find onto your machine. Fixing them up, will be a breeze. The programs will auto. fix them right-a-way.

Reboot the machine to confirm the fix-ups and make the O.S. reconfigure itself up. You will notice, a drastic speed up onto its booting up sequence.

Have a wonderful day everyone!
