Not in 2.1 as I learned to my sorrow in an online game.  As in you can't learn from your own creatures with arcane intuition.

yea i still have the 1.00 version.. at least thats what it says... does anyone know where i can find the LATEST update of the game? (and i dont have HoF unfortunately for some reason i cant get it to work!)

i know that was a little off topic so to get back to haven strategies... would tactics be a good choice (to put large units in front of marksmen to protect from dragons breath attack and the likes)

I think they changed it back again in 1.5.

About downloading Patch 1.5: Look here. Notice that you should make certain to download patches in same language and version as original game (EU/UK is different from US!), and that you need patches 1.4 and 1.41 to install 1.5.

You should post your exact issue with HoF in the tech problems thread if you haven't already.

Patch list:
http://patches.ubi.com/heroes_might_magic_5/

1.5 is the latest. But it's best to do 1.1 and then use the auto-updater several times.  Or do 1.4, 1.41, then 1.5 manually.

Another update for Age of heroes.

And what do you mean, Alcibiades? I don't think they changed the training limit in 1.5. I played a game with Haven last night, and it was still there.

That did not refer to Training, but to Arcane Intuition. As far as I remember, they changed it once again in 1.5, so that you can now learn spells from your own creatures.

@ d_p91: You should look through the sticky threads of this forum. There is a lot of relevant information on such things as latest versions of game and FAQ's. In most cases, the most important information is summarized in the master post (first post on page 1) which will give you a quick overview of latest info.

use vittorio or, if you have the timing, irina. Dougal may score some kills too, although he needs a lot of ore for barracks+upgrade and archertower+upgrade. The squires+marksmen+griffs can defeat the majority of the creeps with no loses, though.

Vittorio and dougal r the best in my opinion.
Vittorios balista rocks all, with dougal i upgrade archers to marksman asap and rock whole map with almost no loses.

mhmm i see... im going to try dougal because i dont want to waste the slot for war machines... i realize its a useful skill at the beginning, but haven is generally not one to rush

well i actually found Vittorio's Ballista to be quite a killer with expert war machines, ballista and triple ballista so i wouldn't say it's that useless lategame either. atleast i was able to kill any shooters really easy also alongside with the ballista, Vittorio gets first aid tent, which will help you so much at nullifying all the losses at creeping.

yeah Vittorio is mad fast creeper and i just love his ballista.

i love Irina because with her griffins, i can creep shooters so easily.

Dougal is awesome in places where precise shot is used. like Dragon Utopias

i usually take Klaus as second hero because with expertise on Paladins, there's no way to get him creep effectively on the first week.

I had game against my cousin last weekend and we played map called Subterranean Treasures. He had Dwarfs and i was a Demon Lord unfortunate we didn't have time time to finish the map. I wasn't losing but i kept thinking about the advantages of the map in late game. I tough 'How powerful choice would Haven be in this map!'

I started little single testing whit the map just to see their potential in it. Few things you need to know: Map is divided on four continents and each player start whit in their own island. Your place is filled whit Arenas and other primary skill boosters. In Red Player players point of view there is unguarded lv2 creature dwelling what you can reach on day 3. There is another town what you can reach on day 5 (not heavily guarded). There is second Sawmill what you can reach on day 4 or day 6-7 if you take the town first. These are the high points of the first week and rest of the area is just easy mine flagging.

I played twice 3 months game first whit Vittorio and his strength was obviously whit creeping whit ballista he didn't have any mentionable creature casualties. Second game i played whit Dougal of course. His start was bit bad actually when Sprites guarded the first Sawhill mine (Damn Wasp Swarm spell). In both games i made made secondary hero on day 1 what followed my main around, flaggin mines and collecting those experience stones. Whit little effort my secondary had the needed Expert Counterstrike + Expert Trainer. On week 3 i finally break threw the garrison and head sail. From this point on i played two different types of games. First game i just busted on Blue players towns whit my Cavaliers and Marksmans but i was disappointed "Good human player wouldn't be this weak" so in next game i stalled. Extra towns would have been nice banks but in the end i didn't even need them.

In end of month 2 i already had over 50 Paladins and 500 Marksmans. Weekly Populations and calculations:

16 x Peasant = 320g, 16 x Peasants ~ Archers = 832g, 62 x Archers = 3100g, 78 x Archers ~ Marksmans = 2340g
12 x Priest = 7800g, 12 x Priest ~ Cavalier = 15744g, 8 x Cavaliers = 10000g, 20 x Cavaliers ~ Champions = 6000g
= 46136g per week /6590g per day.

My income was below 6590 but in the end i managed to train all Priest ~ Cavalier/Champion Continuing this i will have over 1000 Marksmans and 100 Champions in end of month 3!

I didn't make this to prove 'haven is imba' or anything like that it's just that there have been lot of talk here that Fortress is unbeatable in late game and i just wanted to point out it's not (always) like that. Whit Haven i would definitely worry more about those magic abusers rather than Dwarfs in this scenario.

Cmon, if Vittorio is allowed, he is an obvious choice. Ability to creep with litlle army is priceless for a caslte that needs as much gold as possible ASAP. Actually, the best thing to do is leveling a knight and a wizard simultanously.. I mean 1 main hero can't fight everything by himself anyway. So, Vittorio can move "left" and creep(abuse AI weakenss vs war machines) in that direction and a wizard can move "right" and creep(abuse AI weakness vs MotW + dark magic) there. I'm not saying it's easy.. but it's definitely the way to go.

Yeah Vittorio is better choice but Wizard as secondary? Well i suppose might be good tactics War Machine specialist sure are nice. Played Battle of Sexes whit Inferno, i had Deleb as my main + Havez from Tavern on day 1. If that weren't enough Witch hut next my town offered Logistics.

About Ballista specialist is it just me or do they get more knowledge than other heroes? Whit Vittorio and Deleb i always have highest knowledge skill. Demon Lords have Knowledge as secondary favorite but Knights have low change of getting it. In same point of game Vittorio A:11 D:10 K:17 and Dougal A:17 D:15 K:6. Knowledge increases Ballista power but it has nothing to do whit it. (Sure somebody will tell me leave alone the numbers and percentages)

i think you just got lucky, i just played 2 games with Vittorio yesterday and in the first game, artifacts or crystal of revelations not counted he had only 2 knowledge overall :/ this was with lvl 16 Vittorio. on the other game, already at lvl 10, Vittorio had 4 knowledge. so seems very random to me, even tho i never got as much as 17 knowledge.(not even with artifacts and crystals)

i played with vittorio on subturanean treasures against a friend on hotseat (normal difficulty), and i was amazed at how fast i was able togain all the mines

was able to build something every turn, and once i got the second castle i was able to DOUBLE build every turn

eventually i started to run low on ore, but everything else is still high 20s or 30s

i also had the luck of getting klaus on day 1

should i stick with vittorio or build up klaus to be main?
