Wrong. Dark is easy to get with a knight. Also Deleb's ballista with flaming arrows in tote is awesome even after the first month. A campaign enemy killed 12 seraphs with 4 ballista shots(ring of machine affinity and one of the shots lucky) in just one turn. He had 30 attack or so.

i agree deleb with ballista is great in early to mid game..  late game ballista dies with one shot from sharp shooters stack...

i'm looking at the tote 3rd update.. the only unit worth updating to 3rd lvl is monks.. due to cleansing... others are useless... 2nd update all the way...

what about skills and which hero to pick? dougal so far i guess... and what about enlightment... cuz i am planing to use mass deflect and mass bless so i'd probably need mana... but then i'd have to sacrifice leadership... which i really dont want.

What do you mean updating to 3rd lvl? if you are referring to alternate upgrades you choose to get one or the other.

nvm gotta correct myself.. need crossbowmen as well - no range penalty... but the rest i see no point of using alternative against sylvan... or maybe i'm wrong

Seraphs because one lovely divine vengeance and the hunters are gone. Champions have a good special but are easy to block and have less def which is a bad thing vs sylvan.

Usually it's leadership->div guidance, attack->retribution, light with masteries and enlightenment if you can get it. Defense also works against sylvan, especially evasion.

Seraphs are a must, but IŽd do it this way. Imperials dive the Arcane Archers to oblivion. Divine Vengeance is used on the Crystal Dragons (who have decimated half of your army with their initial attack!!) That evens the score a bit.

So crystal dragons are better than emerald ones? And isn't possible for dragons to go before grifs? Which would mean instant toast for teh birdies! :>

@Elvin: Pumpkeen if you get uni bow with sylvan, would you switch to master hunters or stick with SS? The higher stats and initiative should play a major part during the fight no? I mean, meh, the double shot is nice of course since it can proc luck + favoured enemy x 2, but if they act late due to lower ini, there's a chance griffs to get morale bonus when diving, or enemy hero to use divine grace (?) on marks / x-bows?

And! Elvin I finally realised why you and felunio sayd that dungeon on late game + 2 castle map like BFH is bad choice, I beat them really bad with sylvan at start of month 2! Despite he managed to get 20 SP and had armagedon, I hited favoured enemy + luck on his red dragons and furies with my 2 stacks of SS, and my greens slaughtered his raiders! Then was my druids *the alternate one* who 1 shoted with luck his hydras!

Haven needs to survive the 1st hit of sylvans' troops. Knights should mainly focus on getting +defense and +initiative artifacts. Strong retals don't make sylvan happy.

I find it like this, if you start off buying archer tower and upgrade it next turn then you get those Crossbowmans who are like Sylvans Arcane archers and when you basicly have those, you might aswell call yourself rusher

the thing is i specificaly mentioned that i play late game... i don't rush...
with battle dive it'll be a bit complicated, cuz we play hot seat - so we see all the turns.

skills that are a must then attack, def, leadership, light, and luck i guess... really dont wanna sacrifice luck for enlightment... unless i really have to...

Sadly Crystals are better if you take the Luck skill. And when will you not take luck with sylvan?

With the Expert luck skill alone you are already guaranteed to hit 3 targets. And that is in 20% of the cases. With 80% change you will hit 4 or 5 targets. The only drawback of Crystals is that they may not hit a unit that you wanted to (like some shooters) But the sheer damage outweights that a hundredfold.

Prismatic Breath should do half the damage to the targets after the first one. Or like a chain effect of the Succubus Mistress. Now they are imba, doing at best 5 times more damage than devils for example. With Luck that is 10 times more. Oh and they get 40% more turns. Oh and of course Devils cant even cross the battlefield in one turn. That would surely be overpowered...

Actually I've tried arcane archers only on duel mode so I'm not sure. Under Ossir even his master hunters with bow deal less damage against high defense factions. Of course it could be that the arcane archers benefit more from his attack bonus because they already decrease defense - I have no clue yet.

Against haven I'd probably get sharpshooters though I doubt the initiative would be of much help. Maybe just in case they play before enemy hero but not sure 1 more initiative can save you from a morale dive.
Basically I just make educated guesses

Btw emeralds/spaphire dragons should get to play first at times but the chances favour the griffin a bit. Anyway a game should be long for emeralds to appear in multi unless there's a hill fort involved.

and if you play with vitorrio u'll have to sacrifice all of these: enlightenment, defense, luck.
i think the skills should be attack, leadership, light magic (dark magic?), war machines.

i played today just for a test... and i don't know if it's luck or what... i got attack, def, leadership, light magic, dark magic and enlightment offered to me for each lvl up.. so i guess getting dark and enlight isnt too hard... now luck was not offered at all.. which is wierd...
so which would be better?
ligh/dark magic + enlightment if offered (attack, def) - no place for leadership or luck which kinda sucks
or attack, def, light, leader/luck? which is basically how i played before...

Mmmm I don't like dark + light combo for a knight. Thing is you won't have loads of mana. And to be efficient with both light and dark, you need the perks for mass spells for them both, otherwise is no point to get them both. If you do that, then you will fall behind with defense / attack / leadership / counterstrike etc, since you need 12 levels alone to get them to expert and their perks, that presuming everything works perfect and you are only offered light / dark skills / perks alone during this whole time *which is highly doubtfull*. I did play once with a light / dark knight, on ability map, and since I was unlucky to not get leadership, it was really a pain to have positive morale for my troops *had arti to increase spellpower or knowledge but decrease morale by 1*, and there was no single morale boosting arti on map *or I could not find it!*

So playing haven with 0 morale vs warlock with 5 morale and 5 luck was really poo
