Not sure swift mind would be all that good for a 18 lvl hero. Maybe with dark and never against an experienced haven player. Vangelis tried it on me and it didn't work out very well

[...be sure to have consume artifact] - Oops, I always try to delay Consume Artifact as long as possible, so I can get other skills, and in the end I never has it...

[Defense should be an instant pick.] - I am still thinking about this one... Defense for Evasion sounds good against Sylvian archery...
[You didn't use mark of the Wizard in the first game, and in the siege you kept Phantoming Rajas and sending them to the moat instead of copying Gremlins and Mages.] - in the first game I was amazed by this Frenzy shot on me , and could do nothing about it! The Cleansing spell were disabled.  In the second fight I was a bit relaxet and took no time on thinking, just casted MOW and then used it at first thought.

The phoenix thing is because by week 7 in most maps the amount of army raised is too much for a phoenix to handle. It might easily die to a paladin lucky charge.
Logistics is an essential skill for every faction, some just don't get it often. About defense who cares about evasion, the melee damage you will receive from sylvan is A LOT more than the arcane archers could ever hope to inflict on you. It's nice but the core skill is even more so.

Hi all
Im noob and I dont know what skill you should go after. Im playing against friends and they always go for Dark or Destructive magic. We playing large map
So this is what I think you should have
Academy:
Enlightenment -
Dont know what spell skill and what other skill you should take

# Ake11 - It is a common question for beginners. I always wanted to set a perfect skill tree, but... the truth is - ...develop your skills based on current circumstances...
Just get the Heroes 5 Skill Tree v.3.0 and switch to it every time you get a level up, then read carefully and choose the best skills that fits your current position.
For example - destructive is good, but only for short to medium length games... or for example you want to develop a dark wizard, but... no good dark spells in the magic guild, so you should opt for another magic school, depends on the spells you have. The same goes for Enlightenment, Sorcery, and so on. There are many "must" skills, but you never know how the game develops.
P.S. The main factor is the faction you are playing against.

quick question: I'm playing the academy campaign and wanted to reach the ultimate skill of the wizard, however you need 4 skills for that. I'm very frustrated because right now I'm in the 3rd mission and get offered the wrong skills when leveling 
Is there a set path you must follow in order to get all the right skills or is it just random chance (e.g. if I start the 3rd mission again will I have the chance to still get the right skills)?

Random, but you can take care about one skill, then its perks, and afterwards look after another one. It will reduce the possibilities of having unwanted perks or wasting levels. The same rule applies when you want lets say Power of Speed and archery. Youre not taking Archery as first choice, or it will offer you flaming arrows most of the times instead of the precious Battle Frenzy.

I personaly hate to play with academy because of mages..I have to play every battle instead of quick battle because of mages that damages my units with their magic attacks..

onlydungeon you do not know how to play with academy.academy is a faction which you should play carefully.mages are a good ranged unit.titans and gremlins are too.you should focus on magic more than might and of course in archers

And I don't know what do you want to say with that ..I said why I hate to play with them,and you.. ..If you are so good with academy let's play today your academy vs my stronghold

You didn't understand..If I play every battle I haven't any problem with mages..But in quick battle ( I ALWAYS USE IT ) always mages kill my units ( golems , gargoyles and djins )

Then don't use quick battle. Or Rather: Use it, but then redo the battle with less casualties. (I also have quick battle enabled, but I always redo the battles where I have casualties.)

It's much easier with a faction as haven or stronghold when you never loose troops to gains mines etc and win time without replays..

I love to play with academy only4dungeon you don't know to play with this faction it have seen in the games between us two.they're a good faction and it have her good points too like other factions.

I absolutely love them too. They are extremely underrated because of their slowish start. (Well slowish if compared to others like Dungeon or Sylvan). The High Ore cost is still a pain tho.
