I agree with you about Murphy to some extent Bjiorn, but keep in mind he is just upset and a bit youthful.  However, I disagree with what you say about american pride and world war III.  Right now it is about the people who were injured and their friends and families not pride and war.

And I can't see too many people siding against the US if there was some kind of military action taken.  If there was a country responsible for the planes then that country would likely be on their own.  The US has a policy of innocent until proven guilty so I think most people believe we wouldn't just go bombing someone unless we knew for sure they were to blame.  At least I hope so.  Our own people wouldn't put up with the government otherwise.

Its too bad you had to bring up american pride at this juncture though.  Kind of sad.

I just got confirmation that a friend of mine who works in the Pentagon is OK. The same for the handful of folks I actually know in NYC. That's the only ray of sunshine I have found so far today. Some of us here are putting up ribbons of mourning for all those we didn't know who we will now never know.

However, other than mourn them, we can do nothing for the dead. I think I'm going to go let them take a pint of my blood to help the still living. In addition, I have many comrades and acquaintances in the US military and reserves who may soon be going into harm's way because of this cowardly act. To them, I will give whatever support I can.

As for World War 3, I hope it doesn't come to that. But, like most Americans, I more than a little angry right now.

snow you!  I don't snowing care if I lose all of my quality points for attacking you.  Tens of thousands of people are dead -- not tens of thousands of soldiers tens of thousands of people who were just going to work and you complain about AMERICAN PRIDE.
You don't complain when we come up with cures to diseases or pump aid into other nations or send relief aid when disasters happen elsewhere, but when we're snowing attacked you start talking about american snowing pride.

I don't like Bush and I know that it may not be Bin Laden or anything like that, but I seriously doubt that this one is american right wingers (they wouldn't have attacked the pentagon).  It would be nice if you wouldn't start some "american pride" snow when something like this happens.

People, let's stay quiet. Please don't post rumours or analysis about who did it and why, or how the american government should react. I think it's better to think about those people who went to work this morning in NYC and Washington. Quietly.

No penalty will be given for this thread, but if see too many people overreact, I will close it right away. It would be easy right now to say things we could regret later.

. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

VERY IMMATURE!!!!!!!

First off, Mystery never said he celebrated this.  Incubus, read the whole freaking post before you have someone respond!

Second, blaiming Bush for this is the reason this happened.  Power has always brought nemesis.  The reason Bin Laden (who we have no proof was involved with this, don't believe the rumors) is against America is because we are a powerful country, and it is easy to blame us for anything.

Are you next going to tell me that America is also responsible for World War 1 and 2?  (note: like Calmanor pointed out, we are not!!!) It seems to me that many non-American (note: many, not all) are jealous of America's power and unity and blame it for everything.  Sour grapes.

Finally, cussing at each other over this is not only a good way to get someone to NOT listen to you, but to create enemies.

There will be no war, and probably be a major retaliation from our forces, as is appropriate for killing tens of thouseands of our civilians.  Not retaliating is similar to giving in to a ransom note, it only premotes more acts of violence.

I think the best thing to do this at this point is respect the dead, keep calm and DON'T SPREAD RUMORS, and let our voted officials take care of retaliation and speculation.

its a great loss and basically a cowardly act of terriosim i mean come on.  I do agree with Murhpy it was said here on the news that we will respond when we find out who did it and i think thats a not a good thing to do espically with so many allys in war we have its like asking for death.  The scary part is that i live in Pittsburgh PA and a plane crashed that was high jacked 75 miles away from my city

A sad day for people around the world. This atrocity came as a big shock! I am saddened of this eveniment and I hope it will never happen again , nowhere in the world.

I was at school when this eveniment was announced and , first I thought it was a joke. But I was proven not to be a gag in a short time .

In dealing with this problem I belive we need cold logic , not heaty words. No attacks between Afganistan and the U.S.A. must occur.
I hope the terrorist will be all cought and dealt with.

hmmm....

1. NO, it wasnt the right wing american groups... that just
doesnt make ANY sense...

2. Bjorn 190, i think it was very hypocritical and childish to tell murphy that he didnt know what he was talking about when CLEARLY YOU dont know what your talking about...

"We all know how fast the USA will blame the arabs after a terrorist attack. Murphy, you are stupid. You don´t know who was responsible and still you blame the arabs. That is the same ideology that made ppl do this. I hate everyone like you."

A. the USA blamed the arabs first because they were the most likely... also because the arabian people were dancing in the streets after hearing the news of the success of the terrorism. also, because (and this is a fact, and not a rumor) it was known in afghanistan that laden had INDEED made a minor threat on USA but it wasnt taken seriously.
also, there is no reason to call murphy stupid... thats just immature in its own right.  And you hate people like murphy... you dont even know anything about him! except that he thinks the arabs did it... wow.

3. "In this case retaliation from the USA is JUST WHAT HE WANTS."
ok... if he wanted retaliation from the usa... then why is he DENYING THAT HE HAD ANYTHING TO DO W/IT??? you would think he would accept responsibility if he wanted retaliation.  plus, why would he want to get bombed?!?!

4. "I like scenario 2 better because it won´t lead to WWIII and also it won´t make Bush as dangerous to the rest of the world. "

first of all, how is this going to lead to ww3??? unless you call WW3 the us bombing a country and thats it...
secondly, how is bush dangerous to the rest of the world?
please explain your statements in the future...

5. "Are next going to tell me that we are also responsible for World War 1 and 2? It seems to me that many non-American (note: many, not all) are jealous of America's power and unity and blame it for everything. Sour grapes."

well, im no history expert, but i believe we can say that the cause of ww2 was the germans... but thats just me and millions of other people's opinions... lol

Sigh, Calmanor, I never said that America caused World War 2 or 1.  It's obvious that the first was caused by treaties, and the second by a single man leading a punished nation.

I said that Bjorn might as well blame the US for everything, including WW2, if he believed that, because it was an ignorant comment.

You told him to read what others are saying, yet you are doing the same.

I'm going back to edit what I said to make it clearer.

It's obvious this thread will cause nothing but arguements and hatred.

I live all the way across the other side of the world in Melbourne.

I cried myself dry overnight.

Not because it's America, but because innocent people died and I watched it on tv.

It reminds me of the earthquake in Turkey.

Except this earthquake was self-inflicted upon us.

It was not the will of the gods.

I am ashamed to be of this species. Dogs have more honour than people do.

I feel really angry and sad for this incident.

I wish:

- may those who are dead died in peace.
- may those who are injured or temporarily missing be rescued.
- the one who did it or behind this terrible attack being punished and have no chance to do this again.

Now, let's pray for those dead and injured ones, pray for USA and pray for the world.
