Robert:

Robert continued to wave his hands about in a rhythmic motion all the while chanting words taught to him years ago.  He disliked magic then and still could not stand it to this day.  He only performed this action when it was truly needed.  The Elf had an arrow drawn but within seconds had put it back obviously not wanting to start anything among this newly formed group.
In a flash of...non-light a tall oval appeared giving them their doorway into the darkness.  It seemed to pull the shadows around it into itself in a constant motion almost magical, that is if darkness could really be considered magical.  As Robert neared the portal, tentacles of darkness whipped out from all around it as if in a defensive stance.  Perhaps there was some light left in Robert after all.
"Are you guys ready?  Remember, stay close.  This is a different world we're about to enter.  A world where those with light are not welcome."

"Not to worry mate.  Doubt there's much light in me...or you for that matter.  Hell, I'm starting to wonder about the whole lot of ya."The elf looked at the others with a smug grin on his face.  He'd have to be watched.
The group moved forward into the vortex of purples and blacks immediately being washed in the dark matter.  Once their eyes had adjusted it was clear they had entered a place few eyes had ever been set upon before.  The air around them was like smoke yet they could breathe normally.  The very ground they walked upon seemed thin as if it could break apart without notice.  So thin in fact that certain areas appeared to be consisted of nothing at all giving way to more nothing below it.
Robert hated this place and despised every time he had to travel through it.  If it had only been a short distance the dark void would have been no different then say a simple teleportation sending them through one door and out another in the blink of an eye.  This was Robert's preferred use of the dark art...as if he really preferred it at all.
Suddenly out of the corner of his eye Robert noticed exactly what his trained eyes were looking out for.  Those horrid creatures born from the shadows.  The living embodiment of darkness if ever there was one.  This would not be easy.  The group of men were standing on their turf now.  They knew it's every corners and could use the field to their advantage.  Melting into the ground below it, the creature seemed to disappear.
Jon turned to the others ooking relieved."Guess it was a false alarm."
"Don't be so sure", replied Robert in a knowing tone.  As if on cue the creature burst from a puddle of darkness screeching it's horrible noises as it slashed it's deadly claws about.  One of these slashes caught Robert across the face throwing him to the ground below.
With this Robert withdrew a long blade from beneath his cloak and readied his attack.  If life was the other's choice they would do the same...

The ravishing creatures gnashed their long, black teeth and swiped at Robert, knocking him to the ground.

Jon drew the long sword from it's sheath on his back, and held it firm with both hands.

"Can you get us out of here? We should be past the dungeon walls by now!" Jon asked.

Robert was busy drawing a blade, being smothered by the strange, dark beast.

Jon raised the blade, and plunged it into the side of the creature, pinning it to the almost invisible ground they walked on. Jon put his foot down on the squirming body, and drew his blade back out of the disappearing body. Robert rose to his feet.
"Watch out, behind!" Robert shouted, pointing. Jon twisted his blade and swung around, slashing another shadow fiend in half as it lunged in mid-air towards him, and the body was no where to be seen once it hit the floor.

Castan drew his daggers without even thinking. these creatures were melting and rising, trying to decieve the dumb and then strike. Castan just watched one melt into a pool of darkness when he turned his head away too quickly. it sprang to life, jumping directly at Jon's head.

Castan Quickly turned around and with a flowing arch motion he swung around he sliced the creature in the neck. it turned to a sludge and melted.

"Ok, i think we ave had enough off darkness land for now. why dont we go to lights ville"

and so with Robert leading them, they all ran towards the light and jumped into it. unlucky for Castan he landed awkwardly coliding with the floor, sending him into unconciousness

The contestants had slipped momentarily from his grasp, but they could not go far. Not far enough to escape, was all that matters, but they were probably somewhere between the prison wall, and the Gauntlet. Perfect, there will be a nice surprise for them waiting in the realm of light.

But there was one contestant who had not yet woken up, despite the efforts of the others. Pathetic mortal, Alliel, seemed to recall.

Shall we show him just how mortal he is? His time is up.

A hissing sound would be heard in the prison cell, if anyone was awake to hear it. A gas leaked out of the walls, somewhere, changing the room into a translucent green. The body of Alliel began to contract and convulse, his head thrusting backward in an unconcious spasm. His skin began to burn.

Alliel awoke suddenly with the pain, and screamed with all his might. An excruciating pain overtook him, and he scrambled up as well as he can, trying to escape it, in shock and beyond reasoning.

Then the cobblestones on the walls began to shift, and drift slowly, but mechanically, apart, and the sound of cogs was heard behind them.

Then the sound of scraping steel, and great sharp spikes thrusted out of the walls, in unison, designed to leave no one standing in the room. Alliel was impaled, and the screaming ceased, only replaced by a trickle of blood dripping off of his scarred skin.

He smiled, satisfied. One down.

Shae: A loud screech cut her thinking short and she ran, suppressing the pain, into a cavern and out of the sunlight…

*Shae could hear running water.  She knew that there was magical barriers behind her so she continued into the cavern, feeling her way with her hands.  She continued until the daylight was barely detectable.  It was now pitch black  Suddenly a voice rang out.  It is a familiar voice though it was natural this time and not enhanced.*

Well,  well,  well I wasn't expecting long earth magic

That was highly careless of me.

*Shae suddenly feels a kick to her ribs.  She strikes out in an instant with her blade but hits nothing.  The kick returns only harder.  She feels the breath knocked out of her.    She leaps to her feet but is still unable to see anything in the complete darkness.  She then feels spine crushing kick to the face that sends her slamming into the cavern wall.  She is stunned but can still retains enough sensation to feel warm blood trickling down her face. She feels a hand grab her hair and force her face down to the floor.  There is a hand groping around her person.  A minute later she feels the Treant stake being taken from her*

Look you have a purpose to fulfill and you won't do it it by lying on the floor of this cavern.  Get up.

*The hand pulls her up and twists her head back.  Shae staggers to her feet and then feels the hand push her forwards.   Away from where she thinks she first heart the voice*

Do you hear that rushing water over there?  Go over to it, dive into it, and keep swimming until you end up where you're supposed to be.  If you don't I'll just plain kill you.  I'm only giving you one warning. Go!

*Shae feels a final angry shove forwards from hands that are supernaturally strong*

The remaining five passed through the light and one by one stepped into a shallow pool of water.  They simultaneously felt the air density rise.  Jon held his hand up once again and a light filled up the room.   It was a hemispherical room with a grate up at the very top.  The group moved forward scanning the shallow water intently for signs of danger.  Suddenly Eohl spoke.
"We're underwater."
No sooner had he spoken than the group started to hear a whooshing sound from above, like air escaping.
"The water's rising" Castan said.
The group looked down and sure enough, slowly it was starting to creep up past their shins towards their knees.  They were in another trap.
Eohl reached down and tasted the water.  It was fresh highly mineralized water, although he didn't volunteer that information to the rest of the group.  "Examine these walls closely, there must be a way out"
"Are we to try and remove that grate?  Is that the game?" Jon said, peering up at the man sized metal grate.

Castan was kneeling down with his arms beneath the water "No trap.  The wall doesn't go all the way down.  This is our way out, we have to worm our way under the wall and then swim."
The five took a last glance around the walls and the grate to see if there was anything that they missed.

"I have had enough of these games" Hunter said in anger.  He took a deep breath and disappeared beneath the water.  Robert quickly splashed over to where Hunter disappeared and immediately followed afterwards.

Jon waded over to the section of the wall nearest him, felt around for awhile, and then finally took a breath and disappeared, taking the light with him

Eohl heard a splash from where Castan had been.  He moved over to follow Castan and then listened intently, as if searching for clues.  Then he invisibly took a breath and slid into the water without a sound.

The group rose up through the water until they finally broke the surface.  It wasn't too deep, perhaps 5 man lengths.  It was still pitch dark although they could see what looked like lighted doorways off in the distance in all directions.    There were several of them, and they were arranged as if in long corridors of water.   The doorways seemed to beckon them,  almost as if waiting.

Suddenly they could hear Hunter scream:
"I will kill you!  Do you hear me?!  I will find you and kill you! I swear to OLEN-GERIM"
They heard the echoes bounce back moments later….olen gerim…….olen gerim……
Wherever they were, it was huge.

That familiar voice boomed out once again, echoing and reverberating throughout the room, commanding, yet somewhat feeble.

"Hello again, my children."
They could almost sense the wickedness.

"I would like to think you might want to know; anybody who tries to use magic portals again, will find themselves back here... but underwater. Good luck!" A small, cruel laugh erupted, and died out.

Shae
Shae leapt into the water and was relieved to feel the blood wash from her face, the current pulling her onwards and cleansing her soul.  Where had she heard that voice before, and why did each word cut through her so, making her feel as though she were but a child stealing jam?  She did not have time for such contemplation, the water was getting deeper and her need for survival was real.

Her long skirt was weighing her down as her body moved with the rhythm of the tide.  She took a deep breath and drew it in her left hand, her jewelled blade cutting through the fabric easily and shaving it back so that it sat jaggered, the span of her mid thigh. Just long enough to ensure her cargo remained hidden...  Rising again to the surface of the ever consuming fluid, she gasped for oxygen.  The cool air filled her lungs, yet a taste of mustiness lingered.  Minerals.

NO! Shae was falling again.  In a spray of foam this time, accompanying the stream as it flew from the cliff face and into the pool beneath.  Her ribs twinged in pain as she landed she would have to start working on those… but she was careful to hold her knife firm.  Blade and hand were bound, one no more than an extension of the other.

She could see a haze of light in the distance, and could feel those men again.  Maybe they were part of her destiny after all.  Deep down she felt relieved that she was not alone – quickly suppressing this thought as she still was not ready to trust, or even believe that she could depend on anyone or anything but her own will, and the will of the Mother…

Robert:

Upon stepping through the doorway that would take them back to the world of light, Robert thought to himself.  He had been doing that quite a bit since he woke up in what he now realized was nothing more then a game.  A game.  Maybe for the one watching them, that mysterious voice commanding them every step of the way but surely not for Robert.  The only reason he was playing along was so he could meet that man.  Meet him and give him a demonstration of what he did for a living.
With a bright flash of light and another adjustment of the eyes Robert and the others reached the other side only this was not the courtyard Jon had him expecting.  In fact, it appeared they were inside some large pool, or a room made into a pool.  The water was shallow for now but more was quickly rushing in.  Far above them were four dragon statues, one situated at each rounded corner and each one pouring out their share of water.  Within seconds the shallow pool had reached their shins and then their knees.  It wouldn't be much longer before their heads were under.  It was then that Robert realized that the light in the room was not natural.  Once again they had to rely on Jon's skill in whatever magic he employed.  The Elf was also saying something.  Castan, the man covered in knives and blades began feeling the floor of the pool.  He came back up only to tell the group that the walls did not reach the floor below.  Odd but then again Robert did wake up bound and gagged in a dungeon.
"I doubt it could get much stranger then this."  Robert looked up to see another grate similar to the one in the room before only this one did not give off any light.  More then likely they had just headed deeper into this stranger's...whatever it was.
Hunter, the gruff looking fellow expressed his anger and contempt and no sooner disappeared under the water.
Robert, clearly disgruntled by yet another dark room look around one last time before replying, "Forget this, I'm outta here."  He dove down into the water which had already reached his shoulders and felt for the space the others were talking about.  Jon had said they needed to wriggle through.  That seemed reasonable enough.  It wouldn't be the first time Robert had to fit through small areas.  Within moments Robert had resurfaced into an even larger room.  This one was equally filled with water.  With a quick glance Robert took no time in taking back what he had said earlier.  Sure enough it had become stranger.  Ahead of them in the distance were several doorways each giving off a substantial amount of light.  Behind him Robert could hear the others resurfacing.  He was about to swim over to Jon when he heard Hunter scream in anger and rage.  The sound echoed around the large room for some time before the last of the repeating death threats dwindled away into silence.  Robert swam back over to Hunter with a small grin on his face.  At least someone else shared his wish to slaughter the fool who dared do this to him.
"Not before I get the chance fella.  You can have what's left of him after I'm through.", said Robert hoping he could calm this person down.  The last thing any of them needed was some misplaced anger and a stray knife.

The Elf turned to Jon after taking his own look around the large complex,"So what do you make of this?  All those doors all lit up.  How do we know those corridors or this very room for that matter aren't swimming with some kind of carnivorous creature waiting to make us dinner?

"Only one way to find out", said Jon swimming ahead of Robert and Hunter towards the doorways in front of him.  Robert, not wanting to feel outdone especially by the man who had to free him, swam on ahead as well.  Suddenly he stopped when he realized Jon had ceased his swimming.  He looked behind him and noticed the others hadn't even moved when suddenly the Elf called out, "Look!  Look at that.  Below you.

Robert looked slowly below him not sure of what exactly he was looking for.  Seeing nothing he glanced back over to Jon whose mouth had dropped open.  He slowly picked up his arm and pointed in Robert's direction.  Once more Robert looked down and this time saw what the others were all frozen about.  Something was swimming below his feet with a small light growing out of it's head flashing it on and off in a sort of rhythm.
"Well then, this should be fun."  With that Robert drew his longer knife from his boot and dove downward toward the creature.

"Well then, this should be fun." The sound of scraping steel and a plunge into water as Robert dove into the water to tackle the glowing creature.

But Jon's mind was not on the temporal danger, but on how they were to escape this flooding room.

The water flowed freely out of the four dragons, softly, Jon noticed. How was that? They were up so high, the water would need to be pumped up there, making it spray out...

Castan drew double knives and waried himself of his surroundings, as Robert came up for breath, and dove back down under.
Jon trusted that he could keep it under control.

Looking up at the roof, which was quite far up, he could make out a hole in the top corner... a square shape. Looked like a door, but it was up the wrong way. Now that he thought about it, the dragons were upside down too. Suddenly it all made sense. It was another puzzle... the dragons weren't upside down, nor was the room.

"We're upside down." Jon said, or rather, muttered, as if only half sure.

Castan looked at him as if he were insane.

"That's how the water is being poured out, this room has been turned upside down, or rather, just the gravity inside. The water flows down from, say, where we are, into the dragons, and then falls out of their mouths... up.... towards the roof, which is below us... see?" Jon was having trouble explaining, but it was so clear. "Explains the door on the cieling, which should be the floor, and the drainage grate on the, well, floor persay, which normally drains out this water when it falls naturally to the floor rather than up to the roof, where we are swimming. Problem is, I have no idea how to shift back to normality."

With that, he drew his blade, and looked down into the dark waters below. Or above.

Whoever this Master was, he was more powerful than they gave him credit, and his puzzles were just scraping the surface.

Shae

Shae swam towards the glowing lights, the soft colour they emanated beckoning her and clouding the pain that was threatening to consume her.  She had to reach that light .  She could see men treading water and headed in their direction.  What were they waiting for?

As if they could hear her thoughts, she listened as an Elf called out, "Look! Look at that. Below you.” Still too far away to see the danger in the water, but not discouraged by the call, she swam onwards, watching as the burly one dove down to rid them of the threat.  It seemed that he was all alone in his fight. Well not if she had anything to do with it.  She was not going to die here, like this. Not now, not ever.  They had to reach the light… together.

Shae swam alongside them and could see two figures beneath, rolling, churning, and biting at each other.  Teeth and blade, thrusting and dodging.  And then an outpour of blood rising up through the water tainting it a deep red, clouding it so that the figures were indistinguishable.  Her heart sank. No.  A splash revealed that the man had been victorious. What a man .  He had a deep gash in his shoulder and was finding it hard to keep his head above the water.  Slipping beneath his sound arm, she lifted him up, signalling to the others.  “OK fella’s, I’m wet enough, which door will it be?”

" OK fella’s, I’m wet enough, which door will it be?"
The lady said as she rose dripping from under the surface, holding a bleeding Robert over her shoulder.

Jon winked at her, but then took to Robert.

"My god what happened?"
Turned to the mysterious woman.

"You again. Don't think you mentioned your name... what happened here?"

"Well seems the same as you boys, I simply fell into this underwater room. He," indicating to Robert, "was underwater fighting while you were up here safe and sound."

"He was down there fighting the temporal objective, Castan was securing the perimeter and I was busy calculating an executive escape plan, while you were off in fancy magic land, my kind, anonymous lady." Jon bowed to compliment his mock seriousess and vocabulary. "I don't think you know the actual situation we're in. Those aren't doors... they're windows. Open one of those and you'll either, I think, end up in another tower, or fall... up."

"What, fall?"

"Well it's not that bad. The fall won't kill you. But the sudden stop at the bottom will." Jon smiled, kissed her hand, and gazed up at the ceiling.
Or down at the floor.

If they could somehow find out how to reverse the room...

Hunter

Hunter was getting impatient, what was the point of trapping him in this dungeon, had this crazy fellow clearly understood the consequences that his actions might lead to? An all out war with the theives guild, no person in his right mind would even look twice at him when he was doing anything that he wanted anywhere in the city. Even the city guard were powerless against him, he was so well connected and skilled in battle and evassion arts.

Finally rising above the water his eyes quickly spied all over the room. It was dark but still had somekind of a blue lighting, strange cause he couldn't find any sources of light or windows. Nothing... Empty and exitless, clearly he took the wrong way, his second strike, one more and he is out he thought to himself, well at least it's not one of those trap rooms...

Suddenly he felt sharp pain stinging at his bicep muscle, looking at the dripping blood from a deep gash he immidiately started searching for his unseen opponent. There! In the upper corner! Damn bats! The hell, those are quite big for their kind! There were three of them squeeking now and flashing their razor sharp teeth at him, swooosh another cut in his arm and then another. The third one wasn't that lucky, he fell to the ground without any signs of life, with a small knife sticking in its rib cage. The other two squeeked in anger for the loss of their brother and swooshed down again, making a quick evassion spin, drawing two knives out and piercing those too was no big deal for Hunter, all was quiet now.

Not only the pain was bugging Hunter now, but he wasn't prepared to this kind of test mentaly enough. He let his building anger out with a loud shout meant to the sick bastard who is behind all of this. That done, he felt much better, diving into the water yet again he headed back to the others.

Shae

Shae was confused.  The weight of the man she was supporting was manageable with the water surrounding them, but her ribs still needed time and attention.  She needed dry land.  The one they called Jon had addressed her, but she feared he was in fact delirious, or under some kind of spell.  What had he said again?
“Those aren't doors... they're windows.
Shae considered this for a moment. If they were in fact upside down the windows should be beneath them…  She shook her head, the hair whipping her bruised cheeks and slapping her back to her senses.  Regardless of whether they were in fact doors or not, they were a way out of here.  His words continued,
“Open one of those and you'll either, I think, end up in another tower, or fall... up."

"What, fall?" What the ****?

"Well it's not that bad. The fall won't kill you. But the sudden stop at the bottom will."
He kissed her hand then, the one that was keeping the unconscious man afloat.  He must be delirious, and for once she didn’t think it was due to her meticulously arranged cleavage.

She looked around the room again. There were several lighted doorways, and they were arranged as if in long corridors of water, beckoning them.  Waiting.  “You know this water is not subsiding, we need to get out of here, fast.  Those doors hold the key…  who is game enough to choose which one to take.  And who is man enough to take that path with me?"

Didn't listen to a word he said. She gave him a look which struck deep, and the turned to the other Contestants who she seemed to regard as the less... crazy ones.

"You know this water is not subsiding, we need to get out of here, fast. Those doors hold the key… who is game enough to choose which one to take. And who is man enough to take that path with me?"

Jon looked down the watery hallways. It's true, there were doors of some sort all down them throughout the hemisphere of the room... They were each clearly labelled with the same insignia... three, upside down swords, on a shield.

"Doors, of course. The Riddle of the Swordsman;

To those who come with flying keep...
" Jon grinned at the arrogant woman, and continued:

"Don't try, don't fall, don't weep,
Help is always there for none...
The battle turned up and won,
To the sun the shield is nigh,
And to the earth the sword swung high.
"

Jon smiled and kept from laughing, if this woman, and the rest of them, for that matter, did not think him mad already, this would surely enforce that opinion. Why was he reciting the old children's tale? They didn't know that he had solved this one. He may not know how to create a portal the the netherwolds, or how to break down a building with his fists, but he could solve this one anyhow.

Jon waded over to these doors.

"Question my insanity if you will, but you said it yourself; we need to get out of here. See this window? All the swords point down, and the shield up... to the sun, right? and the swords to the earth."

He looked up at the ceiling. There were no rays of light cutting through the grate.

"There is no sun up there. It's below us. You can, in all your courage and bravery, open this window, because you seem to refuse to believe me when I say you will fall to your death out of this tower. I'm going to find the door with the swords swing high."

Shae

Shae breathed a sigh of relief as Jon seemed to share her desire for escape.  She did not think him insane, merely delirious, but his actions now were suggesting a clear mind...

"I'm going to find the door with the swords swing high."

She thanked the mother for ensuring she was not alone here, but her strength was fading.  She had to rest, and heal her aching body.  Letting the cool pool lift her, she inhaled deeply.  One of the other men seemed to acknowledge her need and took the hero from her.  With her ears still tuned in to the sounds of the others, she focused the little energy she could afford into healing herself.

That master had made quite a bit of work for her... Where had she heard that voice.  She could still feel the shadow of his touch and winced.  Once she was whole again she could help repair the wounds of the others, but that would have to wait.

Robert:

Whatever that creature was that swam below put up a hell of a fight.  Robert came up for air one last time before finishing the sea creature off.  It had taken a chunk of skin out of his shoulder and Robert meant to pay that back twice-fold.  In an unusual twist the beast found another ounce of strength and bit back at Robert sending shocking pain up his leg.  He bit down on the knife resting in his mouth before grabbing it once more to deal a finishing blow.  The sharpened blade swished down, thrusting through the creature's skull.  It gave off one last howl and finally died.  That last tussle had taken both Robert and the beast further down into the pool and had exerted most of his energy.  All at once he realized he needed air and hurriedly swam to the surface which seemed to grow farther and farther away.  It began to get difficult for all of a sudden Robert's lack of air began to darken his sight.
"I have to make it...have to...make it...need to..." was Robert's last thought as he broke the surface of the water and blacked out.
Moments later he opened his eyes to make out what appeared to be the blurred image of a woman.
Heaven... he muttered to himself and then wondered as to how he made it in.  Perhaps it was a mistake.  Maybe this angel was carrying him out.  Throwing him down with all those he had slain while still alive.  With that Robert lost conciseness once again.

What must have been an hour later Robert re-awoke still hanging over someone's shoulders although this someone appeared to be different then the mysterious woman carrying him before.  Perhaps that was nothing more then a dream.
Robert blinked his eyes and realized the light from the doorways were still shining just as brightly only this time they were closer.
"Where are we?" asked Robert in a raspy voice.

Still in the pool room...or upside down room as Jon said.  replied Hunter who had been supporting his weight.  "Now that you're awake who can hold yourself up."

"Thanks.  Hey, was there a woman holding me before or was I imagining it?"

You mean me? replied a female voice from behind him.
Robert quickly turned around looking for the owner of the voice and stopped on...Jon...wait...keep looking...there.  Standing near Jon was a beautiful sight to behold but not just any.  It was the Angel who was carrying him before.
"You're the Angel..."

"Well I've been called many things before but that's a new one." she smiled at Robert and swam back over to Jon to discuss what was going on.  Hunter and the others seemed fixated on there own thoughts either involving the lit doorways or perhaps what was through them.  Robert decided to paddle closer to the woman whom he thought of as an Angel and perhaps figure out the current state of things.

Jon looked over at Robert with a troubled look on his face and said, "Now that you're awake I guess you should know that everything in this room is upside down including us.  Look at those statues up there.  The dragons are upside down and look at that grate.  I'm betting that's where the water is supposed to gush out.  That's why it keeps rising.  The drain is up there.  Now I'm pretty sure I have it figured out.  It's as simple as this...."
At that point Jon began to recite a poem or some kind of riddle talking about swords and such.  Useless words for a situation that was easier then Jon would allow.  The water would only reach a certain point before it began to rush out the doors or windows or whatever they were.  Once that occurred they would all know exactly where they led.  All they had to do was look and listen.  If there was another room behind one of those doorways rather then a drop to one's death then they would surely hear the water fill it up as well.
Robert voiced his idea not to anyone in particular but just so it could be heard.  Jon could look for his swinging swords but Robert would peer through the windows.  The light was bright but that would not stop Robert from continuing forward to fulfill his mission.  The master of this castle would die by his hands.  He would be sure of that.

"Robert. See up there, those gaps on either side of the room?" Jon indicated halfway up towards the ceiling.
"The water will rise until we get there, at which point it will drain out to prevent it from rising to the exit. By then these stone doors will be completely submerged, and we shouldn't have a chance at finding the right one. So I suggest you, and the rest of us, all start looking. Split up."

Castan left the rest of the group and begun looking for the door with "swords swung high". he found one door, swords tip facing down. Castan kept looking. another door, identical to the first. Castan ran to another door. again he didnt find the right pathway. the water has raised considerably. the right door must be found soon lest they all perish

Castan started to sprint up and down looking for the right door. coming yet again to another wrong door, Castan lashed out in anger. he smacked a sword with his palm and turned to run for another door. but behind him he heard the door creaking, gears turning loudly. Castan turned sharply to see the door fly open

*The door leads to a tunnel.  The entire group collects itself and moves through the tunnel in battle formation.*

You go through the tunnel and come out into a large oval room with inward sloping walls.  You look up but once again are unable to see the ceiling.

The first thing that captures your attention is a huge 8 meter golem standing on a narrow walkway.  It is facing away away from you and unmoving.  It is hefting in it’s right arm a large object that resembles a vegetable masher.

Between you and the golem is a long lightweight chain descending from the unseen ceiling.   Hanging from the chain is a leather thong with what appears to be a small metallic medallion on it.

You walk forwards a bit and look down.  The floor of the huge oval room is 4o meters below you.  The entire thing is lined with spikes.  Some are larger than others, some are barbed, all are sharp.

Between the floor and the walkway is another layer of what can only be described as plane of floating discs.  Each disc is approximately 3 meters across and they are all moving away from you. To your right and to your left are descending stairs that go down to the level of the moving discs, which is about 10 meters below the walkway and 30 meters above the spikes.  The discs seem to slide out from beneath the stairs and then they traverse the oval room until they disappear into the sheer featureless wall on the other side of the room.

Just then you suddenly hear a thundrous crash from behind you.  The tunnel has caved in!
That’s when you realize that you have entered this room backwards.  It was designed so that you had to figure out a way to get past the golem and his “sweeper” and grab the medallion.

Eohl: I believe the direct method is the only appropriate action in this case..

'Do you really think so?' the Master thought. 'Your time is up, my little elf.'

Eohl moves forward until he stands next to the chain.  He briefly touches the medallion and watches the golems reaction.  Nothing.  He removes the medallion from the chain and again watches the golem.  Still nothing. After turning around and giving the party a raised eyebrow Eohl sprints forward and angles for the edge of the walkway.  In an instant the golem swings his masher down and brings across the walkway.
The party hears crunching and splintering of bones as Eohl is violently thrown off.  He  briefly skids across one of the discs below and then follows a trajectory straight into the spikes below.  Even in death Eohl is silent.

'Two down. Excellent.'

The medallion has managed to land on one of the discs.
