Finally
Thanks,
Finnaly there is somebody that agrees with me. It HAS to have restrictions or else people would create super artifacts and that would just take the fun out of the game.

NOT.
It wouldn't take the fun out, because I can already put 1000 Azure dragons in my hero in the editor and conquer the whole map, and I can put 1000 mines under my control on the map, so the artifact editor shouldn't have restrictions.

Cheaters!
Ok,
We get that you know the cheats mystery. I don't know why you would wan't to put 1000 Azure Dragons into you army because it takes the competition out of the game. Without competition there is no chalege. No chalenge no fun!

Look guys we are not talking about cheating here, I really hate when someone edit the map in their advance. As for the artifacts, there should be restrictions, it would balance the game, and if balance rulez, it contributes to fun. It would be boring to have a +40 to all artifact, or as you (Mystery) said 1000 Azure drags. If there were restrictions to the map editor or no map editor at all (only the map makers should have the editor and send it to the Toh players) I'm sure that the cheating would not exist (no 1000 azure drags Mystery) in that way. I do not call cheating hit&run-ing you or anything else that is in the game. These are all strategies.
I'm sure that the arties thingie caould be solve in the way I mentioned in my last post.
Anyone agree....

Lock the Save Game File
Maybe I should make a new topic, but this discussion of cheating brought this on...
What we really need is a password lock instituted so that multiplayer games cannot be accessed except when both players online. The heroes game is very popular in terms of being played online, but much of the fun is taken out because you are not sure if people are looking at saved files and playing the game when you are not around.
Also, a really good random map maker would be nice. One where you can customize whatever you want. I would pay upwards of $1,000 just for that right now. Anybody got one?

well i think...
i keep hearing your screems "more artifacts!! more artifacts!!!" but for real, how about less? have all of what we call artifacts levels 1-4 become mundane weapons that the heroes can have made from map or town shops,
so at a black smith you could have, for an apropriat price of course, a +4 attack sword, or a +2 def helm, and have a magesmith which makes tools like wands which are held in the hand, but increase spell power, and other crests held in the left hand which increase power / knowledge, and such, so my hero could have a sword +3att +2deff, a helm +2know and so on, and have about 50 artifacts, ranging from above mundane, say +5 max on mundane weapons, arts are all premade, not editable, and have the relic arts be specific to either good / evil /nutral towns, the specific town, might / magic hero, and all be restricted by hero level, so in order to use a relic, the hero must be above a cirtant level,
this way the artifacts we think of as "junk" because they give +1 to one skill, dont' take up programming room, because they would all be genaric, and dumpable,
oh yeah, and there should be set artifacts, and combinable artifacts

Black market.
So simply what your tring to say is that there should be something like a Black market in each town. The difference is that it would take a few days and artifacts would be cheaper. I like this idea, but a few new cool artifacts couldn't hurt anybody.

Cheating.
When I said the thing about cheating, I ment that anyone can cheat, if he wants challenge, he will make himself a challenge, if he wants to cheat, let him cheat, and about making +40 to all artifacts, it can be sometimes useful if someone needs to check something, or sometimes when I am just bored I play a single player game with cheats just to go around and kill all of the monsters.

new artifact
I like the editor idea, and maybe you can use a drawing tool to draw, color or alter the looks.
I have a new artifact, "Gandalf's Ring", it lets you cast 2 spells at a time, only 1 offenseive and 1 defensive.
And "Gandalf's Necklace" it regenerates 1 spell each turn during battle.

Cloak of invisibility
All right. You are right, we could use something like a cloak of invisibility. I all ready mensionedit (see page one) At that time I guess I made it somewhat too strong. It would need some limitations.
Mystery,
Ofcourse that anyone can cheat. Still I know the point of doing it when you are bored. I don't see the point of it when you are playing a real game or a campaing. I must have missunderstud you.

U still need it.
Who knows, u may always need a 100 attack skill artifact, maybe u want to make a campaign or a map where u need to beat the enemy against impossible odds, maybe I want a hero with endless spell points in a map so i give him a 100 knowledge artifact, who knows when u will need it, if u want to make a "normal" artifact for a real challenging game then make it, nobody stops u, if u play multiplayer then agree with your opponenet about "No artifact making" or something.

this one takes me back...
way back in the days of warcraft one...
there was an editor for the game, that would allow you to edit ANY of the creature stats, and if you tried to run the game under that against a player via modem, it would check to see if both sides agreed, if they didn't (ie one tried to cheet the other player) it would kick you back to the main menu, simply put, both players would have to have the exact same map, means both players have seen where any super artifacts are placed,
also they should allow artifacts to be burried, its not hard, you lable them like you do the border guards, then have one building that acts like the obalisk, but there is only one, or maby two needed to score the location
and furthermore they should let you string maps togather, to make a campain personalized, i realy hate that in heroes 3 (with out expantions) there are no necro campains !!!

Agree
I agree with you Mystery. When you have all of them they just take up space, so why not put them together to create a new combination artifact? This idea sounds good.

Rampart artifacts.
I like Rampart so I would like to see their artifacts became stronger. I mean why are they the weakest? Rampart is nothing near weak. I think different Rampart artifacts should be created also.

Cursed items.
hmmm ive thinking...there was only like 2 arts in h2 that were 'cursed'. i guess you could kinda consider recanters or red orb cursed, altho its only a curse for magic users :/
Now in heroes three, there could be SO many things cursed, from diplo such as that ugly mask thing..(cant recall name) or tax lien... cant spell lol...
What kind of NEW cursed arts could their be?
Arts that actually LOWER stats? Arts that nullfy magic? Like expert earth magic would act as if you had none at all)
What else...?
