Well i Love the barbarians Fortress in Homm5, Cycklopses are back to the hihiest Tier!! thats Cool (in Homm3 cyklopses were a bad joke)
Dude Spash dmg the abillity to destroy walls, heal and a range attack
Hmmm a gr8 thing with the barbarian hero too with the anti magic skills instead of the magic skill verry clever
Shooter that runs away when attack so you can shoot,
Goblins....
And Sky doughters that scrifice goblins and cast chain lighting, It's the best thought out town imo.
The only Cons of this City is.. co Crag Hack i liked him since Homm2
necropolis comes in Second

i like inferno and haven. But i find inferno impossible early on without deleb and i really want to play Nymus (i love gating).

I personally like a lot of ranged/no retaliation troops (I love no creature losses per battle). So my list is a bit messed up.
1. Necropolis - Their creatures are weak, but in numbers they dominate. With 2 main ranged, 1 life drain/no retaliation AND raise dead (even though heavily nerfed) this still comes out on top.
2. Sylvan - Two ranged, 2 spellcasters, can heal and resurrect each other, blind and multi-attack also may allow for no retaliation, also good at light magic (resurrection?). Plus luck... equals killing before retaliation!
3. Haven - Several ranged, archangel resurrection, plus defensive abilities and many good defensive units (squire, high hp priest+ upgrades, lay hands, etc)
4. Academy - Interesting abilities, very spell oriented, 3 ranged units, but units are generally too fragile to stop from dying (as a beginner, I sometimes find it hard to keep an army of for example mages intact or even growing)
5. Inferno - Gating allows for fodder/attracts fire away from main targets, but with a mediocre tier 2, a slow tier 6 n 7 (un-upgraded, upgraded 7 is good) and low-hp troops in general, doesn't allow for easy survival. Succubi is also pretty average before upgrade.
6. Dungeon - I really do like playing this faction, but the very low growth rate makes it hard to build an army... I really like the abilities, poison, harpy-like tier 2, minotaur is a very good tier 3, hydra is tank in it's most obvious way, raider is very good offensive, but fragile.
Overall, 4-6 could be switched around, but top three is definite.

I voted Necropolis.Necropolis is the best faction in HOMMV.Its necromancy ability casted on expert can revive a large number of undead.At HOF,come the dwarves and is the same for TOE.The orcs have a pretty cool ability but dwarves'guard post is the best ever.And I hate the Dark Energy of the Necromancers at TOE.Weakens their power.

Academy
Though I usually prefer Might over Magic, in the Homm I always liked Academy better.
The Genies, Titans, the Gremlins, Rhakasa, the Golems and the MAges are all fantastic(as you can see only Gargoyle sucks). Also this whole arabic/indian theme and the alchemy is just awesome. A great concept for an awesome town with the most shooters.

I like Academy, especially its gremlin. With Haves its very easy in the start of the game especially against low melee creature.

I felt haven had a tough line-up overall. very weak in magic, but very strong army.
to me it feels like the best faction, right after sylvan, but it's because wood elves cheat (they have the best shooter, the best tank, the best hero booster, the fastest dragon...) 
the toughest army would be stronghold, but I think the line-up was less good than haven's one. (tier 1 and 6 bad, tier 3 slightly decent, tier 5 awesome)

I hope you all dont mind that I picked Inferno.
After all, it is the only one I am able to use properly though I do have good strategic essays for Academy.

1.Stronghold is favourite because i love their creatures and the blood rage
2.Since i first played H5 i was playing Inferno the most(and Deleb was quite an IMBA 
3.Necropolis was my favourite in H3 but because the Dread Knight is not in the faction is in third
4.Haven is a good faction i like especially the inqusitors and paladins,also strong in all Tiers good upgrades, good stats can counter almost everything
5.I almost never played Tower in H3 but now Academy are pure ownage! Split some stacks of Arch magis and let the fire come down great creeping possibilities...Very good racial skill
6.Good faction but i rarely play it...Have some good stuff in it but i just don't like it that much
7.Hmm they are good and the Magma Dragons are the hardest creatures to kill..But need loads of resources and.... i hate dwarfs anyway
8. Now here....Really Not-cool faction...Elves are worse than dwarves...Hard First hitters... but i never play with them...i like to fight them though(i like to crush other sylvan players the most)

(actually 4 to 5 is a very big gap, 5 to 6 also big gap, to me 6 to 8 are equally dislikeable)
