For your cheating pleasure!

EDIT: Just saying that this is going to be made into an updated (and easier to update) web guide here. It'll still available to download here, of course, but it'll soon have a permanent home!

I just got the game several days ago, and spent the last few days poking about in the game's PAK and LUA files. Who can resist when they're in such easily accessible files?

Perhaps you've already been introduced to the game console "cheats" by Wrongusername here as well (he was in the Celestial Heavens HoMM V forum) so unfortunately, this may no longer be very original (quickly went back to add an acknowledgement in my doc).

But oh well!

It pretty much has everything he's provided, but I've found some variants of the codes that make them easier to execute. For example, adding spells or creatures don't need those long all caps names, but a number will do (though I've provided both in charts for reference). So instead of something like @TeachHeroSpell("Razzak", SPELL_MAGIC_ARROW); (gives Narxes Eldritch Arrow), it's @TeachHeroSpell("Razzak", 1);

I've also constructed a chart with hero names (some of your heroes don't go by their in-game names; like Nur = Astral, Findan = Heam, Vladimir = Pelt, etc) so certain codes can be used more effectively without you having to dig for them yourselves. There's also a list and code for every artifact available.

I'd paste everything here, but it's all of 24 pages long, and I spent time indexing it and such that just wouldn't be seen here, lol.

The file may be freely distributed and all that, and I've put it in a RAR archive so it's as small as possible (~40KB from ~400).

You can find it HERE. You'll just have to wait until a counter runs out before you can get it (about 45 secs).

I hope you enjoy and find it useful!

EDIT: I found 2 errors, too small to warrant an updated link, but you guys can change it yourselves in your own docs!

For adding all spells and seeing movement points, I forgot to add the last underscore. sad

So it's in fact:

add_all_spells
show_hero_mp

My bad.

Get off your high horse, dude.

I'm not forcing anyone to use it. It's a resource, and I know it's been asked for by enough people to warrant posting it. Don't like it? Ignore it. I'm not pirating the game, and I don't cheat myself to win, but I'm not going to sit around and judge the people who want to poke around a bit.

You dont understand...ever heard of ToH? If cheating becomes readily available and easily implemented and people start doing it online undetected, it destroys tourney organizers years of hard work...I was hoping H5 would be as close to cheat free as possible, but still jokers post crap like this and expect to be patted on the back for it.

I'd love to see this post deleted but no doubt it wont be.

This information is available in different forms over the internet already. Crap is not this information, but people who decide to use it to cheat others. It is in fact best that this information becomes fully available (which is inevitable anyway) so that everyone is also educated about what can happen to them and takes due measures when playing with non-honorable players. Alternatively, the cheater will get this info elsewhere and you won't know what hit you.

Quite honestly, as I've messaged to Valeriy, I did this without something sinister in mind or with the intention of being some "joker" who wants kudos; I was largely ignorant of your ToH events.

Sorry about the fuss, I really didn't foresee it, but this being one of the two sites I used to refer to things like skill and hero names to write the guide, just thought I'd share is all.

Heroes is plagued by cheaters, caught or no...this to me just seems to me an easy way for the people who think they need an edge to get hold of it. Idont go looking for cheats on the internet so I wouldnt have a clue that they are already out.

And its just plain friggen sad that they are already...lame as.

I believe Heroes should be checking the checksum before the logging intoe Ubisoft server, if it's somehow edited, it should not let people log in. Though Fabrice said that once, I do notknow if it is implemented....

Thats not the point Valeiry.
Maybe he had good faith or not, regardless, cheating are for people who has to take the easy way out because they cant handle reality.
Many toh players & a few other tournaments has to read this crap.
Many probally dont even go in sites or even know about cheat codes like new online players etc.
Then you get this here & then those new players will be like "hmm whats this here, maybe i can try to use this to get the upper hand.
Point is that people see this & they think it's ok.

Cheaters are for losers & people who post cheat codes, who know it or not contribute to these losers who use them & only because those cheat codes are here.

Crap, I wrote a long post but it disappeared.

ok here it is summarized:

Play with people you trust, then try to play with new ppl too and expand that circle of people you can trust. Also try to spread information about how to detect cheats. And if there really is cheating in MP try to lobby the devs to remove it. Should work

I think you shouldn't be so upset about it, and not be calling people a loser so easily. It is everyone's own resposibility to cheat or not, if you do not like it, quit the mp game and go play single player, where you can do whatever you want, you have this sort of threads everywhere, on any forum, the only thing you get form it are negative things, like bans, name calling flaming etc.

And the only thing people think when they see this sort of threads, with reactions like yourself is that this is a forum for people with low intelligents.

You have it sooo arse about its funny. It should read "if you dont like cheating, quit the sp game and go play multi player". When someone cheats in an online tournament and are caught, they can expect to be banned and rightly so. It obviously creates an uneven playing field. Its your responsibility to not cheat in multiplayer...you just become a liabilty to the tournament and people will not play you. If it feels good to cheat and win in and online tournament, well to me that just shows the depth (ie. lack of) their character.

Upset?
I dont get upset that easily but I would prefer a minimal amount of cheaters of toh players that come to this board.
Advertising players to cheat should be uncalled for.

So you mock me for calling cheaters losers.
So are you telling me that cheaters are winners lol?

In real life, yes!

Tell me, if the opportunity arrived to take a small shortcut, would you take it? So would I. If you can take advantage of a situation in some way, isn't it your duty as an american to do so?

Why should the race always be won by the strong, or the smart, just because of the gifts given to them by nature? I say cheating is the gift man gives to himself!

However, cheating is wrong, and especially wrong in games. Because you've agreed with your opponent on a set of rules (like to play heroes 5 as it was made) for the purpose of having fun. Cheating takes away that fun, and the actual win is secondary to the dance of the warriors.

Get a grip Acu, it seems like you're in 5am drama mode again

Maybe we should ban electricity and curse those who make it available because some people can use elctricity to electricute others. Then we'll be in the dark age while the rest of the world moves on.

What's the point insulting people's intelligence or honor or playing ability? Use this guide to create means of detecting and preventing cheaters.

It would be a lot worse encountering cheaters when you don't even know how they cheat.

the comments here are.. incredible.

The capacity to use console commands is present in EVERY single game.

What's the problem if someone cheats in SP ? I don't, but i certainly couldn't care less if someone alone at home cheats. Some people just want to see the next movie in the campaign without spending hours on a too-difficult scenario (for the casual gamer). If you are hypa-supa good at HV, then great, don't cheat and be proud of yourself.

As for MP, if this is usable in MP, then something has to be done. And not by burying your head into the ground. More info is always good. By your logic, people should stop looking for exploit in software, because then more people can exploit ? Yeah, but more people are aware of what could happen to them, and can start working on fixing the exploits. Same for this.

Last, and this is not particularly restricted to the subject at hand, but some behaviours and tones are really aggressive and dislikeable, i don't think people who post them have the forum rules in mind.

Totally agree do what you want with single player, in the end you are only cheating yourself so you arent answerable to anybody.

You always have the power to break the law, cheat, take shortcuts...etc etc. But there are always consequences, you'll have to do the time. But thats the prob with heroes, especially heroes 3. Some people actually studied how to cheat properly, making it very hard to detect. There was one guy I played in season 2/3 ToH quite a bit, though he beat me more than I beat him. One day I came into the zone and people were saying how this guy had been put into HoS. By this time, I had recorded 7 or 8 losses to the guy. How many of those did he cheat to win? Probably all to cover up for his inferior gaming skills.

Cheating online is a cancer, I'd love to see it stamped out somehow (that checksum thing upon entering ubi lobby sounded very interesting). But true enough, there always be some joker who has to cheat and create a good record. I'm not sure exactly what this achieves.

Hmmm.... I have not liked this thread at all. Especially I feel that Curio may have had a really undeserved knockback.

I never play online barring a couple of times in Duel Mode (Which I have never won) because I know that I am a really rubbish player even though I have played all iterations of the game including Kings Bounty. I never cheated (At home) until H4 because I thought some of the cheat codes were funny and sometimes to see what would happen (I really liked the code to change your hero into a Motorbike rider). The thing I liked most was the fact that at the end of the game it gave you zero points and called you a cheater which is what I did. As a result I very rarely typed in the cheat codes because I really wanted to see if I could beat previous scores.

I think that it is a good idea to make cheat codes easy to use and find just like in H4 but also to have the consequences attached to it.

Cheaters tend to do it because they can't or won't try harder therefore if the codes are easy to get they usually don't go digging much deeper for anything else - and this means that it is easier to detect them too.

I think that getting things into the open is the only way to combat them properly. So I think that Curio should be thanked for what has been done thus far. I am sure that others will go even further. Anti-cheaters will go further than the cheats do.

I wonder if my little admission will provoke people into being horrible to me? I hope not because that is what ruins a good forum.
