well those manuals sure made me take a real leap on this game.  Never really understood a lot of the 3 word blurbs on the talents and such.

Knowing now what is available, my latest necromancer is a pile of doo doo.  Talk about doing everything wrong under the sun while learning.

Luckily, 2 game weeks after I realized that I got into a battle with a necromancer of equal level and superior army size with WAY better skills.

I killed him over a tedious half hour of non automated combat then immediately hired him at the tavern.  level 23 for 3500 gold.  what a BARGAIN.  He ain't perfect but he's better.

Suggestion for printable version

Hello, this pages and information are great. But I miss one thing:
Printable abilities of (non-campaign) heroes like their speciality and their primary and seconday skills. This can help a lot to choose proper hero, especially when someone want to reach ultimate ability. Some heroes have no chance to reach it.

History and description of skills in not necessary, this can be found elsewhere.

It would be really great to create this Printable version.

Thanks a lot.

Thanks for the suggestion.

As you may have guessed, I spent all my time in creating the complete manual:
http://heroescommunity.com/viewthread.php3?TID=19045

However, the spirit of the printable guides was a little different: they were meant to be easier to print, shorter separate guides. And what you ask for is completely in line with that.
For the manual, I created two versions of the heroes section: the complete one that we kept (pp.10-43) - 2 heroes/page, and a shorter one (6 heroes/page -> 2 pages/faction) that we didn't use. I'll see to release this one here as printable guide.

Heroes list is great but..

The list is almost exactly what I imagine. I have only one notice: The list is unnecessarily large. Much better would be to fit the list as landscape and give all heroes from one fraction to one page in two columns. This will reduce it from twelve to six page.

What do you think?

I very much appreciate your effort and speed.
Thanks. Keep it up

The Heroes Reference Guide is up, as can be guessed from Tarenor's comment.

@Tarenor: usually you can do that with your printer driver. That's what I do: printing as a booklet, 2 pages per side.

You have a right of course. I've tried to do that by some printing software, but this didn't work. After your reply I've found this option in printer properities

Once again thanks for answer. It is great, that there are people like you who are do something for other players.

Bye, Tarenor from Czech Republic.

Question

I wanted to ask a new one
Butv apparently a new person on this forum is LIMITED to post a reply not a new question

Odd But Ok

I have lots

Been playing 3.1 for ever
Just found the fantastic 5 1/2

But I have many questions

There are new skills
No probs there

But what are the uupgrades associated with being a Seer or an Assassin or a death knight
So is there a skill wheel for all of these. ?
What is the progression ?
Is there an updated manual that tells you all about this somewhere

What about all of the new artifacts and building types
What do they do ?
What are the pros and cons of each

Thanks everyone or anyone out there who worked on this and/ or who answers
Much appreciated

Hello aneil12345,

Heroes 5.5 is great mod indeed but it is still in development.
When the first official release is out there will be a guide for sure but for now you can follow up all the changes either on the thread or on the facebook page HERE. I try to make it a bit like Wiki so you can search for all the changes.

Regarding the hero skill trees, there is a built in manual in the game.

On the picture below can you see the small sniper-ish square button above enlightenment?

When you click it the in-built manual is opened. It looks like this.

It is pretty self explanatory -
on the left the top row "tree branches icons" show all the skills and perks and their progression.

Below them the "heroes" icons represents Factions. Each "hero icon" represents the 3 classes of each faction, how they level up stats and skills.

The third set of icons represent description of the skill and perks in  that tree. Click on the skill you want to find out what its perks does .

You can also check this ALBUM on the facebook page, there are some pics with explanations.

If you have any questions or troubles you can always contact me here or directly on the FB fan page.

Cheers for the love !

Dredknight

Your so right about the love.
Thanks for the reply.  I do truly appreciate it

So I kick off by saying I' (and a LOT of other people) are NOT on Facebook.  Not now never will be.  Put it down if you want to me being closer to 50 than 40.......  But really more about I have a great deal of interest in my own private life being private
(enough of the rant lol !!!)
So sorry Cant find you there.  I will on the other hand find you here
And that'll do do me just fine

Ok As I said.  Thanks for the reply.
It does make more sense (a bit now) :-)

So extening it a bit more if I can

But what I aim for with EVER hero is the ultimate upgrade
So THIS was what I was angling for with my questions

What are the core skills for say a SEER as just one example of the new classes. What abilities do they HAVE to pick to get their upgrade?
Is it the same as the Wizard Class of old ?
War Machines Tick
Enlightenment Tick
Sorcery Tick
Master them all
Pick the RIGHT abilities in those
Then get arcane omniscience Yippee ~!!!

Or is it something completely different
And I think it is...........
Cause looking at the ingame manual (that you show me Seriously thanks.  Missed that little button lol)
its Luck
Light magic
and the newly changed Offence
And no detail about WHICH of the abilities IN those three gets the SEER's Ultimate upgrade

I play ALL my HoMM on Randomly generated Large + Random maps against AI players and a few mates who join with me on line.  Us against the Computer horde
And to beat them Ultimate upgrade is KEY!!
This there are all ther super fantastic classes to try out.
But I want them to progress in the optimum manner

Hope all of this makes some form of sense.
Its 0530am local time when I write this
and still getting the sleep out

Have a fantast gay killing Gobbies out there with your 29th level heroes
bwahahahahah

There is no best hero or best tactics, first when you choose your hero check the ingame manual what skills he can pick and what stats he levels up.

here is example of Academy:
- Seer gets 50% Attack and def, 50% spell power and knowledge.
- Wizard gets 25% attack and def, 75% Spell power and knowledge
- Elementalist gets 20% attack and def, 80% spell power and knowledge

So you see that Seer is the Might hero of the faction as he also starts with LUCk.
- Wizard is tha balanced class as he starts with Artificier (this means the knowledge will be translated into creature stats via artifacts)
- elementalist is the pure Mage.

Based on that take a look what Skills are most favoured for that class and make your picks when you level up so they can fit your strategy.

Remember - There is no best pick there is suitable strategy.
There is no "best hero", there is better than the opponent one at the right moment.

Regarding the ultimates check the Apendix, it shows which perks are required to get it.

Then scroll through the Mastery trees and find those perks and how to gain them. Here is an example for some of requirements of Arcane Omniscense.

Well thanks so much for the explanation
With the first one that you answered earlier, I had nutted out a bit of what you have said
But didnt get it all
One of the things thast threw me about the ultimate upgrade path you have highlighted here was that their seems to be NO upgrade specific for Necromancer types being "Howl of terror" and there were a few (I guess) new ones that I have never encountered before

So just to be clear ANYONE can get an ultimate upgrade of a specific type.  Just assuming you have the right combination of skills and abilities
Its not just based on what faction you are like it was with Old HoMM V
I like this
I like this a lot !!

I really do thank you for the replies
Very much appreciated

Thats right! Just remember that not everybody can get some of the skills.
