Kokology

I don't know if anyone has heard of this, but kokology is a simple and silly psychology game. You're given a scenario with certain choices, and you're asked how you would react to them.   You should answer with the first thing that comes to mind, and in the end, they explain how to interpret your answers.

Just for fun, please POST YOUR RESPONSES! Some of them are really good for laughs.

Okay, so let's get this a try:

A Desert Journey
Your desktop is spilling over with unfinished paperwork; the rest of the office has already gone home for the night. You look up at the clock and it laughs back. You wonder, with a sinking feeling inside, if this job will ever be done.

The professor drones on and on through a three-hour double lecture on the world’s most boring subject. There’s no space left for doodles in your notebook, and you’re only thirty minutes into the class. You begin to think you’ve somehow been frozen in time.

Waiting can be a special form of torture, worse than any momentary pain. The combination of frustration and boredom can send even the bravest heart into a state of panic. Our first journey will bring us face-to-face with the infinite. Take a moment to prepare yourself, and enter the eternal desert...

1. You are riding a camel across the vast and empty expanse of a seemingly endless desert. You have ridden until you are near exhaustion. What words would you say to the camel that has carried you all the way?

2. Just at the point when you thought you’d die of thirst, a beautiful oasis appears. But someone has arrived before you. Who is this other traveler? (Use the name of a person you know.)

3. Time passes slowly in the desert, and it feels like an eternity before the lights of a town appear on the horizon. You have finally reached your destination. What are your feelings as you come to your journey’s end?

4. The time has come to part with the camel you have ridden for so long. Just as you dismount, a new rider climbs into the saddle to take your place. Who is this new rider? (Name another person in you life.)

Key to A Desert Journey
The desert and camel theme symbolizes the journey toward personal independence. Specifically, this scenario reveals your feelings about parting with a lover. Your answers show how you might react when the time comes to go your separate ways.

1. The words you spoke to the camel reveal what you might say to yourself when you realize love has been lost. Did you try words of encouragement like "We’ll make it through somehow!" Or was there a hint of despair—"We’re lost... this is hopeless... I think we’re going to die out here?"

2. In psychological terms, the oasis symbolizes the key to solving one’s problems. The person you encountered here could be someone who has helped or comforted you in the past or one you might turn to in times of need.

3. The town at journey’s end stands for the order restored to your emotions once you’ve recovered from your broken heart. Your feelings upon reaching the town are your true feeling about finally getting over a lost love.

4. The new rider is a person toward whom you feel a secret rivalry, jealousy, or resentment. Is the person you named a rival in love or maybe someone who once broke your heart?

Hey camel I hope you're doing okay because I'm about to *cough cough* die of thirst

1. The words you spoke to the camel reveal what you might say to yourself when you realize love has been lost. (LOL)

It's a hot arabian chick in a veil.  Name?  Valerie.  (heh heh sorry Val if you're reading this…)

wait, that doesn't make any sense…

In psychological terms, the oasis symbolizes the key to solving one’s problems. The person you encountered here could be someone who has helped or comforted you in the past or one you might turn to in times of need.

Valerie was just a chick I knew that maybe looked Arabic if you looked at her from the right angle and with the proper lighting.

I really need a cold alcoholic beverage.  And I'm going to be mighty upset if there's none to be found in this little pissant town.

The town at journey’s end stands for the order restored to your emotions once you’ve recovered from your broken heart. Your feelings upon reaching the town are your true feeling about finally getting over a lost love.  (LOL again)

She doesn't seem to understand English though…

I probably wouldn't say anything to the camel, to be honest.  I would probably be humming some catchy motown song or commerical jingle.

I thought of my older sister, who is like a second mother to me.

confusion.  Why was I coming here again?  What am I supposed to be doing now?

I was thinking of my friend alex, who is a younger friend who reminds me a little of myself.

interesting...he did talk a lot about wanting to sleep with my girlfriend (before she and I started dating)...he and I also get really competetive with one another (he kicks my butt at soul calibur but he's got nothing on me in homm3 ...he's better at yo-yo, but I take him to town at disc golf).

thanks for the thoughts, Iris...I am wondering about why I sing jackson 5 songs when I realize that love is over.

Let's try a different one.  Btw, I don't make these up.

The Stolen Berries
1.  On a stroll through the countryside, you come across a field of delicious-looking strawberries.  Your stomach starts to rumble, and there’s no one else around.  Only a fence stands between you and a free lunch.  How high is the fence?

2.  You sneak into the garden and begin to help yourself to the fruit.  How many berries do you eat?

3.  Suddenly the farmer whose berries you’re stealing appears out of nowhere and starts yelling at you.  What do you say in your own defense?

4.  After all is said and done, how did the berries taste?  And looking back, how did you feel after your berry-stealing adventure was over?

*
*
*
*
*
*
*
*
*
*

Key to the Stolen Berries
Strawberries—seductively juicy and red—are a common symbol of sexual attraction and desire.  The way you envisioned this scenario helps us to understand your attitude toward forbidden romance and stolen love.

1.  The height of the fence you imagined around the field is a measure of your own level of self-control and resistance to sexual temptation.  The higher the fence, the greater your own defense.  People who imagined a total enclosure exercise admirable restraint.  Those of you who said it was only a string tied around some beanpoles at about knee height run a higher than average risk of getting burned by the flames of love.

2.  The number of berries you said you would steal is the number of people you can believe yourself in love (or lust) with at any given time.  If you said you’d quite after eating just one, you’re likely to be faithful in your own love life as well (or at least a devoted serial monogamist).  Those of you who got into the double digits may need to think seriously about applying the brakes on your libido.  Nobody can keep that pace up forever.

3.  The excuse you made to the farmer represent the way you’d defend yourself if you got caught having an affair.  What was your excuse?

“I’m so sorry.  I promise I’ll never do it again.”  Sometimes a full confession and a promise to behave is the beset way to get yourself off the hook.

“They looked so good, I just couldn’t help myself.”  Well, actually you did help yourself—to somebody else’s berries.  But honesty is the best policy.  After all, it worked for George Washington, didn’t it?  If you keep it up, maybe someday you could be president, too.

“Hey those berries were great!  Do you mind if I have a couple more?”  Farmers have shotguns.  Spouses have lawyers.  Fortunately you still have a chance to reconsider your choice of words.

4.  The way you described the experience and the taste of the berries gives an indication of how you imagine yourself feeling when looking back on a past affair.

“Actually, they didn’t taste as good as they looked.  The whole thing wasn’t really worth the effort.”  All too true for most affairs.  Chalk it up to experience and put it behind you.

“So sweet!  So juicy and delicious!  I’ve never tasted anything like it!”  Uh, let’s just say you’re addicted to love.

“The berries were nothing special, but all in all it was kind of fun.”  Statistically speaking, you’re in the high-risk group for repeat offenders.

tons…
A kilogram and a half?

I was thirsty as heck.  Sorry dude, I'll repay.  Nice berries by the way.

What fence...? I don't see a fence...

2.  You sneak into the garden and begin to help yourself to the fruit.  How many berries do you eat?

As many as I can before the first puking incedent... And then I stuff the rest into my two handy large backpacks that I always carry around...

3.  Suddenly the farmer whose berries you’re stealing appears out of nowhere and starts yelling at you.  What do you say in your own defense?

"I'm from the health department, your berries are infected with the "mad berry" disease and I must confiscate them all...

4.  After all is said and done, how did the berries taste?  And looking back, how did you feel after your berry-stealing adventure was over?

Awesome, and I would feel even better after I am finished with counting the stash that I made selling the rest...

Hmmm... I guess I'm really weird... In a good way that is!

I'll go with 10 cm high decorative fence so that I can get to strawberries easier.

2.  You sneak into the garden and begin to help yourself to the fruit.  How many berries do you eat?

30-50 (basically, until I start feeling sick of them) I'll also make sure to pack some with me for later

3.  Suddenly the farmer whose berries you’re stealing appears out of nowhere and starts yelling at you.  What do you say in your own defense?

Amm... look! Your house is on fire!!!!! *starts running*

4.  After all is said and done, how did the berries taste?  And looking back, how did you feel after your berry-stealing adventure was over?

They tasted great and the fact that they were stolen made it even more worthy

ROFL! It was MUCH lower than knee height. I must be on fire now!!!

What about triple digits?

heehee

Well I was thinking of cherry tomatoes, I have a endless supply of these growing in my back yard, or the passionfruit that has just started falling from its vine.

Or of course money.

Or if the only way I could make amends was with my body, then yes I guess I would have to offer some sex ed lessons.  I would want a few more strawberries though

I believe the law of diminishing returns would apply here.  Man that first berry would be wtfpwn good.  By the 20th I'd probably be sick of them.  And seeing as how I pulled one over Farmer Bob I'm feeling pretty good about myself.

Interesting scenarios Iris.

Hi Iris, I hope you don't mind but I have a kokology to post.  This will give you the chance to answer one as well

A Trip to the Bottleshop
It is humpday.  Wednesday afternoon and you have had a shocking day at work, but fortunately it is also pay day so you head to the local bottle shop with a full wallet and a thirst for something special.

The bottleshop attendant smiles at you while talking on the phone, an indication that they are not in any hurry to rush to your aid, but they are hot so you don’t mind just yet.

You search the shelves of the bottle shop wanting to find something fitting of your day’s toil.  There are so many different shaped bottles, you can’t remember seeing so much variety before.  The labels are a gallery of artistic design, colour and print combine to entice you, although it is hard to read the print describing what exactly lies within.

You ponder your options while not wanting to spend the whole evening in this place.

1.  The shop is divided into different sections; you usually head straight for the ‘beers’.  After walking around inspecting all the business has to offer; do you turn on your feet and head straight for the beers, explore the spirits on offer, or wait for the hot assistant to help you with the wine?

2. The shop assistant is finally off the phone and approaches you.  For some strange reason your heart jumps as they ask, “May I help you?”  What words do you say in reply?

3. Looking at the lines of bottles you notice three basic shapes.  Hourglass, Tall and slender, or spherical.  The coloured labels can be clumped into three basic groupings – Black, reds, silver.  What shape and colour attracts you most?

4.  You arrive home and pour yourself a drink.  Describe the glass and the drink in it, and how the glass came into your possession?

Key to a Trip to the Bottleshop
The bottleshop theme symbolizes the journey toward personal and emotional release. Specifically, this scenario reveals your feelings about how you deal with stressful situations, and your ideal lover to comfort you when you are depressed.

1. Your answer reveals how ready you are to accept alternate ways to approach your problems, as well as how flexible you are to finding creative solutions and seeing them through.  If you headed straight for the beers then you are less likely to change destructive habits, exploring the spirits shows a desire for a better life, while waiting for the hot assistant suggests a deep longing to be held closely and comforted by a lover.

2. Your response to the shop assistant reveals how horny, and sexually adventurous you have been that day.  For instance, if you reply, “No thanks, I’m just looking…” Then you have probably visited the HC masturbation thread before breakfast. If however you smile back at the assistant and spend the next ten minutes discussing your different options, you are probably aching to experience new positions in different locations.

3. The shapes and colours reveal the following about your ideal lover:

Hourglass: Ability to provide you with lots of babies.  You are after someone who will cherish you and you alone, cook for you and rub your tired feet.

Tall and slender:  Athletic.  Can keep up with your busy lifestyle, is organised and knows just what to say.

Spherical:  Humour.  This lover will have you laughing through thick and thin.  Not too much upstairs but a good heart.

Black: Smooth and sophisticated.
Reds: Loving yet sexy.
Silver: Spontaneous and full of energy.

4.  Your description of the glass reveals the qualities in yourself that you consider important and worthy.  The match between this glass and its contents represents the match between your current life and that which you desire.  The more detailed your story on how the glass came into your possession the less likely you are to pursue your fantasies.

NOTE: This is purely fictional and any resultant psychological distress is unintentional and coincidental...
