And the best one is......NECROPOLIS!!!!!!!

You nust be kidding me-zombies aren't goood cannon fodders they suck with their 7 inititative, you say, that they are the strongest,'cause of the heroes dark spells, that goes for the whole combat, but with the nice rune of exorcism, necros do not have a chance

In rich map yes but in poor map with very limited resourses it is absolutely vice versa. While fortress gets berserks building and buys first one then you look at opponents necro army with has 4-5 liches and wights already. Yes I admit that those zombies sucks as does the dragons. They should buff dragons damage since necro no more relies on his skeleton legions. But if ubisoft thinks itīs fine that necros troops are underpowered so be it.

Necropolis' status in all maps imaginable.

Just like Megatron did say in the Beast Wars' season 1, last episode:

AHH!! So quick of Judgment!! Total disregard to Life!! So much will to annihilate all that do not fit their perfect plans!! Total destruction to all that stands in their wake!! ...I do like those aliens, yeeesss!!

And, the Necropolis Heroes resurrect a certain % of their own + the living that felt to defeat at the last battle, directly onto the same spot of the map currently played.

Me: Will I let them succeed that easily? Noooo. It is probably the main reason why I am so eager at their own total annihilation onto any maps' battlefields, yeeesss.

In an early game, I do not think Necros have a slightest chance but, by month 2 and half, totally different story.

I think Haven is the most powerful faction, but I also think they are a bit too normal and boring. It's funny to play them from time to time, but I prefer Necropolis. I love to use dark magic, Vampires and necromancy to get even greater armies.

Lizzie> Can't you just admit that Fortress is beatable? Runes are powerful but NOT unbeatable. And Bear Riders are DEFINETLY beatable. A skilled player can beat Fortress with any faction in the game (If you think I am, I can tell you that I'm not a Fortress-hater. I enjoy playing them sometimes, but I'm not in eternal love with them). If you take a look at quite a few topics in HC you will see that you are pretty alone in the "Fortress beats everything, I love them club"

And what about academy? I havent played them very much but they need lots of resourses to buildings and especially to mage guild since Wizard relies on his magic(or so what I have played). And those mini arties arenīt very cheap either.

Yes, Academy is an expencive town, but I think Fortress is just as expencive. They need lots of recourses to get their lvl 5, 6 and 7 creatures and their upgrades (I know it seems like I'm a real Fortress-hater now but I ain't that).

I have been playing academy lately so I can offer this anecdotal evidence, on a Hard difficulty I as the wizard was able to get the basic dwellings and a few upgrades and a level 5 mage guild before my friend who creeps better than I do was able to get all of the basic dwellings for Haven.

The only resource I was lacking was mercury, picking between your 5th and 3rd level troops on hard is a tough choice.

Anyhow to get maximum effect from the academy you need lots of resources but Haven and Necro need so much in the way of rock and Sylvan needs way too much wood. The Dwarves need to much of two resources, gems and crystal and dungeon needs too much sulfur and crystal as does inferno... so really all of the castles have issues with resources, but once you are done with the buildings you want only the fortress and academy care.

the game's pretty random, so even if the map is balanced skill selection and magic selection can still win/lose game.  and u'd really have to find a way to sort out hero selection too before figuring out how to decide who is best.  hero's in some ways are almost more important than factions.

but I like vittorio/haven, good stuff.

No problem with Raise dead+Mark of the Necromancer combo. Just make sure you have least 2 knowlege. Then you can surround your weak skellies with zombies with really hasnt low hp growth/week.

Last time I got 3 lots of marksmen, 2 horde of marksmen by week 1 and lots of hell chargers, pack of inquisitors and pack of rajas week 2. And it was not that hard. Mark of the necromancer, raise dead and firetrap. I lost a few skeleton archers total.

Necro is pretty much the best creeping castle - dark, summoning, MotN, ghosts..
At the begginning of the game with necro I like to do a "3-5 day circle". The goal is to get
for hero(Naadir): exp dark, exp summoning, MotN.
for castle: ugp archers, guild lvl4-5
So, "a circle" should be completed with last movement points to enter guild lvl3-4. Next day, build guild lvl4-5 and set a new creeping path according to learnt spells. It's sooo much fun where a necromancer learns a phoenix but have 2 knowledge.. so most likely the best skill to get next is enlightenment->intelligence but if it's not needed badly then it's better to get it after master of life->haunted mines.

I vote for Haven. The towns are easiest to build. Mighty Paladins and Archangels. Spellpower ain't of much advantage if you don't have destructive skills. For Knowledge, how much you require? Academy heroes tend to keep acquiring knowledge than other skills, but most of the battles during the game won't last more than 5 rounds (10 knowledge would most probably be sufficient). On the other hand, I can live with medium spellpower and knowledge but high attack and defense (which are Haven heroes' appetite). You'll do just great with Mass Haste, Mass Confusion, and perhaps Mass Slow.

Just curious, where did you get that info.  And why put it in this thread?

I know they are rearranging the skills but I didn't think it was that dramatic.
