Black Sabbath is British metal, and that is a fact, Iron maiden and Metallica is Heavy Metal.

@Geny, my bad, I was more noting to newer metal, Black Sabbath is one of the patriots in metal. Metal has evolved since it started.

How can you say Black Sabbath isn't Heavy metal?
They invented the whole genre!
Also, heavy metal is a subgenre of metal just as power metal is. Metal is the real genre.

As long as it has strong guitar solo's, powerful beats, gets your heart pumping like crazy - its all good.
My brothers a bassist and Ive been fortunate enough to be around a lot of live metal/rock performances. You can talk about genres until the cows come home. Heavy metal/hard rock its all subjective -its what you want it to be.
Ive seen Iron Maiden/Metallica/Judas Priest and others live several times. Mostly fantastic, especially Maiden - and numerous others -(I wont discuss Gary Moore messing up at Wembley ever again!) Ive witnessed Rob Halford squawk like a strangled chicken - and he is one of the respected vocalists in heavy metal.
Metal came about as a way of sticking two fingers up and the boring popular music of the 60's. Something raw, unbridled, fierce. Just enjoy it!!!!!

Lol. I just don't think it's "what you want it to be". If the music is heavy metal then that's what it is. Plain and simple.
