There's an interesting vision for this in Charles Stross's Accelerando. There's a free e-version online at http://www.accelerando.org/2006/03/17/.
It's dense, but worth the slog to be transported to the future where we aren't limited by our meatbodies. His concept as the soul = software is thought provocing also...

death would be obsolete in there because the probability factors of being ressurected by natural means are abnormally high.

I thought of this thread reading a short story by Stephen Baxter the other day about the prospect of life expectancy of humans being greatly increased by technology, and what will happen when theres a bunch of really old people sitting around retired and draining the economy...
The story talks about the descrimination and ultimately drafting of these "old" people by the young ones who run the nation.
Interesting.
Anyway, this is one of my favourite threads

Really,I am not joking,they live longer cuz of fish meat.Well to be infinite you need to transfer your brain data to a computer.When you are in the computer,you will be eternal cuz you can renew or move to another computer.

Well what's the point in living 1000000 years if you can't appreciate YOURSELF, your INNER self?
Life will be a cycle of happiness/suffering, at least physically, there is really no point in it. That's one of my greatest fears actually, to have such a life.
It's like, what's the point?

Some people believe in the life after death.If it was not in the nature to preserve yourself as much as it could you,all the evolution has brought,everybody would want to go to the afterlife.
I rather think you disappear from existence.I mean there are serveral fluids that prove to lower hypo oxydation in brain or making it easier leaving to believe you enter afterlife.
Ethics is becoming a matter of emotion not moral anymore.
