I tried playing Hocus Pocus but my soundcard will not work, im trying to fix it because I think that the music for Hocus Pocus is good and yet addicting, which I love listening to old game music, so I love this music.
Another Old and very fun game was Bio Menace.
Here are some screenshots of it:

http://www.dosgamesarchive.com/download/biomen.gif
http://www.abandonia.com/games/en/236/images/games/Bio%20Menace6.png

Bio Menace as you can see is a Side Scrolling action game, highly addictive and high in fun.
I have played this game alot, and I can say it is one of the best Side Scrolling games ever.

Here are is the main thing from 3D Realms Website:
You are Snake Logan, a top CIA operative who likes to do things his own way. Metro City has fallen under the attack of hideous mutants and your mission is to fly recon over the city and report back. While circling over the city you're shot down by hostile forces and forced to crash land on the streets of Metro. Grabbing what supplies you can find you are out to discover the source of these mutants and especially the guy who shot you down!

Intelligence reports indicate that a man calling himself Dr. Mangle is responsible for the mutants and the destruction of Metro. You will have to battle your way through many levels packed with evil mutants and robotic guards to finally infiltrate Mangle's fortress and defeat him. You think to yourself that this will be the most dangerous mission of your life.

Snake Logan is a weapons expert, and uses several throughout the game, including a high-powered machine gun (you NEED to hear the sound effect for this!) and grenades.

EXCITING FEATURES

   *

Developed using a game engine developed by Id Software, designers of Quake.
   *

Fantastically animated creatures and menacing robotic enemies to outwit.
   *

     Non-stop, Duke Nukem-style, kick-'em-in-the-butt, shoot-everything action!
   *

Exciting and brilliantly drawn graphics, with stunning variety and realism.
   *

Full Ad Lib music soundtrack and sound effects.
   *

     Big boss creatures to battle!
   *

Several weapons at your disposal, plus four secret weapons and maneuvers!
   *

     Many secret areas to discover.
   *

Three skill levels. Joystick support. Save and restore games.

Another is Duke Nukem 1 and 2, both being Side Scrolling, they too are very addicting and fun to play.

Yes it is, I used to play Doom 1 and Doom 2 alot, like I mean ALOT.
I have found the Wad site you were talking about Trogdor:
Here is the Link
It has many interesting things, including downloads and more
I would have to say that Doom was a pretty violent game to be honest.
Shooting Imps and then they blow apart, but it is all visual and very  fun.
Here are some pictures if you do not know what Doom is.
BTW: Doom 1 or Doom 2 or Shareware doom either one never had a full version it was shareware i think i heard, and its intent never should have become this popular.

Another Game was a 2D kinda game, well 3D but in stick like graphics was Tank.
If anyone remembers that, quite a good game, where all you have to do is take out all of the tanks that are around you.
Quite addicting and can get challenging as you progress further into the game.
Another Good game but was made in 1995 was Crusader No Remose, it was a DOS game and oh boy, it had the best graphics I had ever seen in a DOS game in my entire life, it totally blew me away.
Another reason why I played this was for the addictivness and the music.
The music in this game is absolutely great, and I have listened to it for hours on end, just listening to it.
I suppose HOMM1 is an old enough game because it definately looks it.
But other than that, it is very good.
I play games for the fun of it and sometimes I do not care if it has bad graphics or the like, I play for addictivness, fun, gameplay etc.

Just abouth the first console I have ever played was the Hanimex console. If you haven't heard of it, it is because it was not that well known. Mainly it had sports and gambling games with a few arcade classics thrown in (it even had space invaders).

After that I progressed to the Master System II. Yep, you heard right, that's the one with Alex Kidd in Miracle World built into it. Sometimes when a cartridge is inserted for any game, Alex Kidd still comes up. I also had a bad habit of chewing on things such as the Master System controllers. The Master System is now wrecked, mainly because of me.

And after that came the SNES. I remember a game called Unirally. Man that was a fun game. Unfortunately the cartridge broke and the game stopped working. I alkso enjoyed Killer Instinct and Street Fighter 2.

After that came the N64. Hours and hours on Goldeneye and Mario Kart helped keep my head straight. This lead to the Gamecube I have now, but in between that came the PC.

With the PC I was introduced to may great game classics.
- DooM series
- GTA series (I still play GTA2)
- HOMM3
- Civilisation 2
- Heretic/Hexen
- Need for Speed series
- Simcity series
- Master of Orion 2

I think you should go out and play Master of Orion 2 sometime. It's a very overlooked and underappreciated game.

Nice post there Trogdor.
That reminded me.
My dad used to have a Commodore 64, I never played or seen one of these things, but i have sene some of the games, but unfortunately not in action.
Some of them look kinda cool.
It reminds me of all the old times past when we had bad grapics games but still very fun, to the good graphics games which are very fun to play.
Surprisng thing is though, that most bad graphics games are very very fun to play, and the really good graphics games are fun to play but soon lose the funness, and they are only good for visual quality.
But maybe thats just me

Thanks for the compliment.
There are many old games around that we still play today.
I dont know how old this game is, but Raptor Call of the Shadows I played so so much, it was just a really awesome game.
It is like  Tyrian, but better graphics, same view and things, and the gameplay was incredible.
I have played Tyrian more I think but Raptor is just up there with the really good games list
The music in Raptor is also a must to hear, because i listeneed to that alot and personally I love it.
If you havent heard of this game, then I recommend that you buy it

Anyways, with old Troggy playing the good old GTA2 recently (again), I decided on the liberty of the GTA2 players to start guide on GTA2. Today I will start the first part of the guide. This first part will give you a brief introduction on some of the basics, some of the things you can pick up, the cities where the gameplay takes place and the criminal groups you can work for as the game progresses.

The Basics
First off you need to know the controls. The directional buttons on the keypad are your movement buttons, space to jump, enter to get in and out of cars, left control to use weapons or punch, and z amd x to change weapons.

Furthermore, you need to know about the weapons and things you can pick. The list of weapons are as listed:
- Pistol (x2 available)
- Machine Gun (silencer available)
- Shotgun
- Flamethrower
- Electrogun
- Rocket Launcher
- Grenades
- Molotov Cocktails

Other things you can pick up are as listed:
- Electrofingers (electrocute people by just punching them)
- Get out of jail free card
- Health
- Armour
- Cop Bribe (reduces your wanted level entirely)
- Invisibility
- Fast Reload (shoot weapons faster)
- Double damage
- Kill Frenzy (gives you a time limit to perform a certain task which, if completed, will reduce your wanted level entirely)
- GTA2 Token
-Multiplier (for your score)

Also, you only have 5 lives. Waste them all and it's game over. Further more, it costs 5000 for resprays and 50000 to save your game (you also have to pay for automotive weapons as well as bail and hospital costs and you sometimes get mugged). Larger cars fit more people during missions, and the antennas on TV vans point to the save game spot.

The city is dived into areas, each with different gangs. They are the commercial, residential and industrial districts. Each gang has hatred towards another gang. Kill their rivals to earn respect for a gang. Lose that respect and another gang will give you theirs. Now here's a look at the gangs close-up.

ZAIBATSU
Leaders: Trey Welsh, Red Valdez, Uno Carb.
Description: Often dressed in black, these guys are well known drug dealers and often refer to their operatives as Z-Men, Z-Operatives and Geckos. They have a taste in only the latest drugs and the finest ladies and act rather formal.
Vehicle: Z-Men often drive around in a sharp pitch-black-coloured Z-Class (a parody of high-end Jaguars) with a yellow Z printed on the roof.
Music: The radio show of choice is the Dean Frantz show, a well-known shock jock in the city.
Weapons: Z-Operatives have a habit of finishing the job in silence, making silence machine guns their weapon of choice. Some of them, however, prefer the power of the rocket launcher.

The Loonies
Leader: Elmo
Description: As their gang name says, they act like a bunch of loons and proud of it. They also have an interest in drugs and hate the ideals of sanity and good taste. They also dress exlcusively in green.
Vehicle: The nutters drive in a dark green Dementia (a small clown car) with a weird face as the logo.
Music: Their radio staion MC is Spazz Funbags, a dude not unlike Dr Demento in the states.
Weapons: Molotov Cocktails are their weapons of choice.

Yakuza
Leader: Johnny Zoo
Description: The sharp dressed-in-blue Japanese Mafia have a taste in expensive clothing and cars. Alcohol plays a big part of their lifestyle and the Yakuza award honour to it's members (often called Kosais).
Vehicle: The Japanese ride is a blue Miura with a Yen Logo.
Music: Industrial and dance music is the chosen music styles of the Yakuza.
Weapons: Any firearm that shoots a bullet or two.

SRS Scientists
Leader: Dr Labrat
Description: More like evil mastermind clones than gangsters, the Scientists are fascinated with new technologies and are researching frequently. Their yellow clothes pay homage to many evil mastermind organisations and refer to workers as robots.
Vehicle: The car of choice of the scientists is a yellow Meteor.
Music: The scientists are not concerned about what music they listen to.
Weapons: Flamethrowers are their favourites.

Rednecks
Leader: Billy Bob Bean
Description: The rednecks are fans of Elvis and have a distrust for other people. Rednecks dress in blue and have bright coloured and rtefer to fellow rednecks as roosters.
Vehicle: It wouldn't be redneck without redneck auotmobiles, and the redneck vehicle is a pickup with the Rebel logo on the roof.
Music: Redneck music is frequently heard of Rebel Radio, with Marshall Nash as MC and DJ.
Weapons: Rednecks have a preference of shotguns and molotov cocktails.

Krishnas
Leader: Sunbeam
Description: The Krishnas are simplistic people with deep beliefs in religion are hate technology with a passion. Meditation and chanting are commonplace and members are more often than not converted and referred to as grasshoppers.
Vehicle: The Krishnas hate polution and prefer to use methods of transport, such as their flower-painted Karma Bus.
Music: The Krishna radio stations plays mainly religious music.
Weapons: Flamethrowers and Molotov cocktails are high on their agenda.

Russian Mafia
Leader: Jerkov
Description: Ah, you gotta love those commie Russian comrades with their vodka and drunkeness and all that. They dress exclusively in red.
Vehicle: Russian Mafia calls for poorly-made Russian vehicles. A red Bulwark perhaps?
Music: The radio guy is an alcoholic who uses propaganda as a statement. How very Russian.
Weapons: The Russians invented many a weapon so it's only fair if they use Molotov Cocktails and machine guns.

Oh, to finish off this part, If you get a wanted rating of 4, the SWAT team is called. From level 2 onwards, if you reach a wanted level of 5, the special agents will take over. Finally, in the industrial district, if you get 6 wanted points (the maximum), you have to deal with the military forces.

Have fun with GTA2.

I remember the times when playing Hocus Pocus, Duke Nukem and also Bio Menace (with all the six SuperBonus items to be found..).
There was another game i played very often that time, but forgot its name. Your hero was a small boy, with white playsuit and a red cap. Think his name was Jimmy. Your only weapon was a slingshot. You had to run around in different levels (cemetery, dungeon, haunted houses...etc..) and fight zombies, snakes, walking stones, flying knives...etc...This was very addictive.
