I think I know this game.
Was it called MonsterBash.
If so then I have some pictures of it for you:

I too have played that game.
But seriously bio menace, Duke Nukem, Hocus Pocus deserved to be played just one more time.
They are absolutely great games to play, and without them, then some of the great games we have today might not even exist.

Yes...Monsterbash was its name...was a cool game..
And as far as i remember, all these games were from the same developer...APOGEE.

yeah it is, I have played it a couple of times, and its quite an addiciting game to play imho.
A really fun game, although osme of the music was tedious but I dealt with it.
I think something that brings gamers towards a game is either music, or gameplay.
And in some instances Visual Quality.
Not many old games have Good graphics, although there are some rare ones which are absolutely fun to play, and have great graphics too which is a plus
I think these days, gaming developers are trying to hard on the graphics and forgetting about the gameplay which matters the most.
But thats just my opinion

EDIT: Yes you are correct on that statement Angelito.
Hocus Pocus was Apogee AFAIK, and so was Bio Menace, and Monster Bash.
There may have been others, but Apogee have done wonderfully with there games.
GOOD WORK APOGEE ON PROVIDING HOURS OF ENTERTAINMENT

I just looked up some more infos on APOGEE, and they made some more "famous" 2D games:

Crystal Caves (1991)
Secret Agent (1992)
Wolfenstein 3D (1992, id Software)
Commander Keen series (only Publisher, developed by id software)
Duke Nukem series
Wolfenstein 3D (1992, id Software)
BioMenace (1993)
Halloween Harry (1993)
Major Stryker (1993)
Monster Bash (1993)
Raptor - Call of the Shadows (1994)
Rise of the Triad (1994)
Wacky Wheels (1994)
Stargunner (1996)
Shadow Warrior (1997)
Balls of Steel (1998)

APOGEE "turned" into 3D Realms 1995, some may know the new name...

Shadow Warrior, UI think you are mistaken as 3D Realms made that, because I have it right in front of me.
I have played funnily enough every one of them lol.
Crystal Caves was an absolute classic of a game, really fun.
Wolfenstein 3D good game aswell.
Oh there is one that I have't plaed or heard of and thats Major Stryker.
I have played Star Gunner that was ann awesome game but unfortunately only got to play the demo version of it.
But other than that is an awesome game.
Wacky Wheels is aweomse, but sometimes a bit rigged imho
Halloween Harry, yet another that deserves to be mentioened.
I have played this a hell of alot of times, and I have to say that it has been definately worth it

I used to play NES system long time back when i was young. The games like Super Mario, TMNT, Contra, Double Dragon kept me entertained while i had to deal with school. Good old times. The only old PC game i used to play back then was Homm2.

Legend of Zelda: A Link to the past.

Anyone who has played and finished that game will agree with me that it is a classic. Great graphics for the time, great soundtrack.

If you pay close attention to the storyline, Ocerina of time was based on this game. Everything is very similar.

Kings Bounty --> 1991
Kings Bounty 2 (renamed to "Heroes of Might and Magic: A Strategic Quest" during development, to show the closeness to the famous "Might and Magic 1-5" series that time) --> 1995
Heroes 2: The Succession Wars --> 1996

What i also loved to play was Warcraft 2. My first "contact" to RTS games was Dune2. This was a completely new style of gameplay for me, and it was very addictive. Then a friend showed me Warcraft 2 (was about the same time as Command&Conquer was released i think...) and i played it all night along. The little "eastereggs" were cool also....like exploding sheeps, the puking captain of the ships...and so on...
And then, Age of Empires came....and i think it was a milestone in computer game history. What an awesome game...very nice graphics...cool historical background.....and a random map generator..

Yes Age of Empires was the benchmark for gaming history.
It was perfect, and most of all, symbolized real life hapopenings, or tried to portray them at least, which imho is very good, and seeing as though I love ancient history, this game was just right for me.
Very good game.
On to Warcraft series.
Yes I plpayed these games quite alot, I havent unfortunately played Warcraft 3, but it is supposed to be a very good game, or so I have heard, and Warcraft 1 and 2 were very good, and they kept getting better, although I felt that in some cases, Warcraft 1 had better graphics than Warcraft 2.
Warcraft 2 was very colourful whereas Warcraft 1 wasnt, and thats perhaps the reason why to the better graphics, or maybe its just me
Although very good games overall

Well another game, which  was good to play was Rayman.
I dont think its old enough, but im talking about Rayman, the 2D side-scrolling game.
It was great, and I had very good times with it.
If anyone has heard this game just say, because I havent met many people who have heard of this good game
