eheh, my sig contains the lyrics of HoMM 5 main menu theme, I didn't know it was borrowed from Mozart's requiem. :-)

Another question. Should my cleric and sorcerer learn both light and dark magic, or should one of them learn light and the other one dark? Are these magic schools actually worth it?

are u talking about 6 or 7? i presume 6... yes they are worth it... dark has some really awesome skills, as does light... divine intervention and souldrinker are what you'd probably rely on...

In MM6 there is no souldrinker and divine intervention only works during sunset and sunrise.
You should learn both your sorcerer and your cleric light+dark but you should build them up one at a time for each character (sorcerer builds up dark before light, cleric builds up light before dark or vice versa). SPOILER: You may want to get them both to expert level in both skills in order to become master while you have the chance.

The spells have high spells point costs and also cost a lot of gold so perhaps you should wait until later in the game (level 40+ or even later) before you spend a lot of skill points in light/dark. You should at least improve your other magic skills to master level first (perhaps except the awaful earth and mind magic schools).

There are some very good spells in light/dark. Day of the Gods + Hour of Power + Day of protection is standard use later on. Shrapmental is just like fire blast but delivers greater damage and it can target any opponent. Dragon breath is also a mass killer but it costs a lot of spell points. Toxic cloud is very reliable and you may want to get it early (perhaps even now). Paralyze is good against a few very strong monsters if you can make it work. I rarely use other light/dark spells than those mentioned; most of them are crap.

Thanks for the help.

I did something funny today. It was December 18th and I was trying to kill time until winter solstice to get my druid promotion. And then I decided to do all the dungeons i didn't manage before. In just 3 days I cleared the Silver Cove area, did the Monolith, Silver Helm Outpost in Silver Cove, Temple of the Fire Lord (the most annoying dungeon so far), Temple of the Sun, Corlagon's Estate, resetted all the dragon towers, found and brought back Nicolai and got my crusader nomination.

When I finally trained my characters, their level jumped from 34 to 40 and each of my characters had 50 skill points to spend around! That was awesome!

btw, I tried Golden Touch spell on my equipment but it always broke the items. Am I doing something wrong?

Yes, once you get the hang of it you can do a lot in a very short amount of time. Set a beacon go to a temple to heal and teleport back is very commonly used. Your characters can go on for days like that (though you have to remember to eat now and then). I usually don't train unless I can train at least five levels and usually I wait even longer. Partly because I would have to go and find expert/master teachers every now and then and also because it only takes 1 week to train for each "training session" no matter how many levels you train.

Golden touch: I guess I've used this spell about once. It only gives you up to 80% iirc of the item's value, not that gold is such a big issue later in the game (you'll have it in abundance) but I just don't like the idea of losing those 20%. Better to set a beacon and teleport to a shop.

Shops often cause you to lose much more of the item's worth than Golden Touch does.

By the time you get master of light you'll usually have the sufficient merchant skill. Selling at 100% in New Sorpigal does not require much more than master of merchant. Level 7 master + a merchant NPC is enough.
Besides, you'll run out of spell points soon enough if you use golden touch to clear room in your inventory.

hehe, I figured it out already though it's very boring to go to a shop after cleaning dungeons to get rid of useless items. Btw, my knight has mastered almost everything he Knows and he still got lots of skillpoints to spend around. I was thinking of him learning another weapon skill. Currently he knows sword and bow. What weapon do you think is the best for him to learn?

I cleared entire Medusa dungeon, even cornered and killed Q or whatever he's called. Wow, that was a LONG battle, took me a day or even more. I haven't gone to Kriegspire yet, currently I'm doing the Werewolf's Den, but it's going really slow

use the enter button more.... if ur casting spells, otherwise hit and run constant movements are good... cos they miss a lot

I prefer to fight in real time mode. Just set the necessary quick spells (fireball). I think Castle Darkmoor is the most annoying dungeon, once you get there you'll know what I mean.

Yup, my knight has masters all those skills. They sent me to Baa temple at Kriegspire to find a cure for Silvertongue. Gosh, the sheer number of magicians I have to fight there scares the hell out of me :-(

Any suggestions on how to beat large numbers of spellcasters? Even real time combat doesn't help much here.

nope, this one is full of Baa mages, Druids and Warlocks. Grand Druids are especially annoying! Fortunately all my spellcasters have items that regenerate mana.

Figthing against spell casters is rather annoying. Don't use turn based mode, that's a great advantage for them. Stand protected in the doorway, look at your mini map, they pile up near the corners of the room. Hide in the doorway. With a combination of moving forwards and sidestepping you can move little into the room, just enough to allow you to make a few shots. You will notice that the order of your charaters (portraits in the bottom) affects from which point they shoot. Fireball also works very well. If you're fast you can move in, fire, and out again before their spells hit you.
In the temple of baa in kriegspire there is a very large room, clearing out the balconys first is recommended. After that the keywords is constant movement.

finally finished the game, woohoo!
Thanks once again for all your help, it was very useful.


One thing surprised me though, the end game was so easy. The blasters made the Control Center and the Hive an easy piece of cake. And the Tomb of VARN was the most beautiful dungeon in the game.

Here's my score btw, I didn't bother to kill any monsters in the Dragonsands, Paradise Valley, Hermit's Isle and Sweet Water.

Congratulations! Level 104 is quite high considering you didn't clear Paradise Valley (I usually can't wait to get enough SP for a few meteor showers and then go there).
The tomb of VARN is awesome. The seemingly endless size of the main room is overwhelmingly impressive when you first enter it.
And yes, blasters make the game cheesy, combined with haste nothing beats them IMO, though I know that some veterans prefer to use shrapmetal at a incredibly high level of dark magic (at least 20 before magic bonuses).
