Paedophilic would not be word even if it was spelled correctly. The word you are looking for is "a pedophile".

Example: Pecu is a pedophile.

1. Are photos of underwear more degrading than swimsuits? Men and women – explain please.

(I'm with some others here in that the "more degrading" has the makings of a biased question that--intentionally or not--projects a point of view that an academic question should not.)

As for the answer, it would depend entirely on the context.  As said before, suggestion is a very powerful tool.  I'll bet you any of these people wouldn't look half as attractive if they were photographed while timing their longest belch, or scratching their chin in a long, open-jawed yawn.

That's attractiveness, not degradation, but I find it related.  Tasteful is the keyword here.  What is the semi-nudity supposed to express?  Is it accentuating specific parts?  Is she looking with bedroom eyes or going to rip your throat out?  Is she simply smiling and saying: "Hey, this is me!"

I can imagine garderobes with less skin and much less taste.

There's a difference between cheap and beautiful.

2. Is it degrading to the female species {} to post pictures of any of these? How does this affect woman’s liberation? How does this affect the image of men?

From experience, I've learned the image of men is pretty much made up.  That makes it really easy on some of us as soon as we rise over the norm, which we do as long as we refrain from sneezing in someone's face.

Woman's liberation?  As I'm male, that's a difficult question for me to answer.  I doubt that these pictures are going to make a difference there; they're not going to equalize wages, change language, or jinx hormones.  But I understand the question pops to mind.

I believe the most important thing here would be losing the "us vs. them" attitude both males as females seem to uphold at times, and blame eachother for.

3. Are pictures of real people in their underwear or swimsuits any ‘worse’ than the images in The Sexiest Woman thread?

Models are real people, too!  They just have professional lighting and touched-up photos to help them out.  When you meet these people in person, you almost wouldn't recognise them--they're still pretty, but not glamourous.

Again, it would depend on the meaning and context of the picture.  People are uncertain and cautious about how they look--and yes, even models have this problem--and sometimes seek approval of others.  Other people are happy with the way they look and aren't afraid to show it.  Any of those is good to me.

As long as the essence of the picture isn't: "Look, here are my genitals, and you didn't have to pay me $50," (or whatever the going rate is) it's fine by me.

4. Would you post pics of yourself in any of the above outfits? Why/why not.

Probably not, because photos and I generally aren't on speaking terms.  I simply haven't the interest.

5. Wonder Woman: What is this outfit? Swimsuit/underwear/other. Comments?

Back in the days, it was provocative; now, it's almost symbolic.  You could ask the same about Superman's or Batman's spandex.

I agree with the previous comment about the loaded nature of the word "degrading".  I don't think anyone degrades themselves when they have pictures taken of them in either.  Setting, Setting, Setting, I say.  A picture of a man or woman on the beach or at a pool, amidst other swimsuit-clad folk, isn't nearly as provocative as a picture of a man or woman close-up, wearing either a swimsuit or underwear.  I don't think it really makes a difference whether it is one or the other.

2. Is it degrading to the female species {} to post pictures of any of these? How does this affect woman’s liberation? How does this affect the image of men?

This is an interesting question, as it begs a definition of "women's liberation".  Speaking from personal experience, I have met women who think of it as a workplace ideal, as mentioned before (equal pay, equal job opportunities, etc).  I have also met women who think of it more outside of the workplace, eg not getting groped on the subway or harassed by men on the streets.  These two positions are not mutually exclusive, but I have met many women from group B who think of the Group A ladies as manipulative "men-in-disguise" who merely use the fact that they are a minority in a workplace to get jobs that they aren't as qualified for (often using their attractiveness as a means to get it).  I think that the notion of complete "equality" of the sexes is troublesome, mostly in that there are more than just physical differences between men and women.

It is true that in many circles of men (forgetting circle jerks ) pictures of barely-dressed women are discussed with an air of "I'd like to hit THAT".  I don't really think men should be punished for finding women attractive.  Women are degraded, imo, only when they are thought of exclusively as sexual playthings, without merit in other areas (beyond cooking dinner, doing the laundry, and making babies).

3. Are pictures of real people in their underwear or swimsuits any ‘worse’ than the images in The Sexiest Woman thread?

No.  pictures of robot-people, maybe.

4. Would you post pics of yourself in any of the above outfits? Why/why not.

Sure, any of them if you're all that interested in seeing it.  Why?  Because I am just cool like that I guess.

5. Wonder Woman: What is this outfit? Swimsuit/underwear/other. Comments?

I couldn't see the photo...I have an inability to see through invisible jet-planes.

As okie agreed with this point I just wanted to note that this is not an academic question lol  but I get your point.  It was written in response to a comment made in another thread that claimed these images were degrading.

Well, the word I was looking for was "loaded" (rather than "biased"), and I guess I used academic as an antonym.  Still, no offense meant.  I'm not natively English-speaking, so I may accidentally be a little curt (or wordy) at times -- if I am, don't hesitate to let me know.

I'm pleasantly surprised the discussion has remained serene.  Most of my experience with these topics is bad, where the questions were not posed to ask for opinions, but to get confirmation.

It's to your credit that you didn't.  You deserve that QP.

I was just thinking.
You should wear a swimsuit indoors 7 underwear outdoors.
I mean come on lets face it.
Women loves to get stared at by men 7 women.
They love the attention.
Why do you think they wear cloths that people can just stare all day long at some tight jeans .

Swimsuit is natural for the beach.
not indoors.
Wear the swimsuits indoors.
It makes it worth it.

Now underwear you can wear to the beach.
Show off that you live under the pineapple under the sea.
Or show of that you wire grandmas undies.
Or just go with the flow in the variety of fruity loomies.
Just go with different colors.
Just wear it to show off you got nothing to be embarassed about.
Chances are you will get the attention
