Wow I didn't know that bug existed. Usually when my healt dropped low I was already empty in mana potions and died or maybe i just had too much health...naah with mage it isn't possible

My sword could have been in early version of it so it may have changed or just been a bug but I haven't ever gotten anything good from wirt although he must have gotten over a million gps from me

The reason for apocalypse staff is only the working on advocates. Its really cool when you just teleport to diablo's room and blast 'em all to hell with it...BOOM,BOOM,BOOM       Much faster than stone cursing and killing them one by one

Well on the 19th July I got both Diablo 2 and the expansion, and I have been playing on battle.net for a while now.
My character, a tesladin level 85, is going well.
I would suggest this game to anyone who wants a challenge and wants some good fun multiplayer action.

The multiplayer, which is mainly played on battle.net or can be played on open battle.net (not recommended unless you have hacked items and want hacked duels with others), or tcp/ip play.
I play on closed battle.net which you cannot find hacked items and all that., and that is where all the players go, although you can still find a fair few playing on open battle.net but they virtually all have hacked items.

Open batle.net uses your single player characters, and not your closed battle.net characters.
I have been on open battle.net and at times, it is rather fun having hacked duels with other people.
But I prefer playing on closed battle.net.

Basically there are 3 difficulties to closed battle.net, just like in single player, there is Normal, Nightmare and then Hell.
In hell, if you are a sorceress then you will have quite a hard time, because basically everything is immune to something, so I use my paladin or tesladin (holy shock and zeal), but I am beginning to use Zeal and Holy Shield so that my defense can go up, because I die alot and that is probably because of having quite poor defense (around 1924 or something like that) and when I cast my holy shield my defense ges up to about 3000+.
Quite good in my opinion.

In single player and closed battle.net everytime you complete a mode, here is what you get known as:

Normal: Slayer
Nightmare: Matriarch
Hell: Patriarch

In LoD they are known as that and in the normal Diablo 2 non expansion I think it is like this:

Normal: Slayer
Nightmare: Champion
Hell: Baron

I might be wrong so please forgive me.

In normal the creatures are really easy to kill, and most noobs like to get rushed by much higher levelled people, although if you are like level 80 something and the person you are rushing is like level 10, then the person you are rushing will not gain any experience, mainly duem to the fact that you are too high a level  for them to gain anything.
So rushing noobs is usually giving them all the waypoints and weapons and gold that drop from the monsters that you kill.

Nightmare gets a little tougher, and this is probably where the "Ball Runs" start.
A Ball run is where you go to Harrogath which is in Act V, and then you get into the Throne of Destruction.
Baal then keeps summoning waves of demons, each getting harder and harder until he summons the last creatures which are Minions of Destruction.
These Runs give you alot of experience, especially the Baaal runs, well infact the Baal runs give the most experience in the entire game.
It is true, because in one day I went from level 38 to level 61, and then the next I went from 61 to 77 or 78 if I remember correctly.

Hell mode is where you get alot of good items, and this is much harder.
The Baal runs here give alot more experience then Nightmare Baal runs, and you can die easily.
A tip: Don't advance to hell unless you are over level 70, because you will die really weasily.
In Hell you can find alot of "Elite" class items, and you can find all of the rare "runes" which you can make runewords from.

A runeword is basically a weapon or armour that is made from runes.
For example:
You have a 3 Socketed Dusk Shroud, and you place within it a Jah, ber and Ith rune.
That Dusk Shroud armour will then become Enigma, which is basically the best armour in the game, mainly because it gives you the ability to teleport and numerous other things.
You can also make runeword weapons, and a classic runeword weapon is Holy Thunder, which is I believe an uber paladin weapon, a 4 socketed  scepter is needed for it though if I am correct.
It has really good stats, and it is great for paladins.

An Elite class item that I have, the LightSabre is a very good word, one of the best I think, and it can only be found in Hell Mode, which I was rushed through and I completed.

Another thing is if you join a baal run game in hell mode, it is best to play with 8 players.
Why?
Because with 8 players, the monsters get harder and the experience earned is much greater, so you will level up alot faster.
It is also a little more fun than playing with only 2 people I guess.

There are a couple of classes of weapons to watch out for:

Normal: normal properties of a weapon, no specials added.

Magic (blue): has some increased damage and some special properties, but nothing to impressive.
You can also get 3 rings and combine them to make an amulet, and you can get 3 amulets and combine them to make a ring.
This is usually a bit stupid though, because sometimes the ring or amulet that you get after the combination can be poor quality, and that means that you wasted 3 good rings or 3 good amulets, so do this with caution, although when you are higher level you have a better chance of ending up with something good.

Rare (yellow): These are rare obviously, and have much more added special properties, and they generally deal more damage.

Set (green): These items are rare, and usually have other's of the same kind that need to be found.
For an example, the Sigons Set, which consists of Helmet, Armour, Shield, Gloves and Boots that all need to be found so that you can access the bonus properites that the entire set gives you.
They are generally good when all together, but there are some that are quite poor.
These should be looked for.

Unique (brown): These are very rare, much rarer than rare items which are highlighted in yellow.
These give off usually alot of special properties, and generally do quite alot of damage or give very good defense.
Some of the Elite class Unique weapons can usually only be found in hell mode, but can also be found by trading with others.
A good example of an Elite Unique Weapon is the LightSabre Phase Blade and you can get a LightSabre Elegant Blade, but I have a phase blade so yeah.

These facts about the different classes should be considered, and you should pay close attention as to which items you chose to keep and which ones you should throw away.

Here are some stats of each weapon class (chose weapons because they are easy to do):

Normal weapon:

Name: Bastard Sword
Description: none
Exp: no
1 Handed: 6-18
2 Handed: 20-28
Thrown: no
Dur: 40

Rare weapon:

Name:
Description: Crystal Sword, Sword Class, Enhanced Damage, Adds 1-3 Cold Damage, +26 To Attack Rating, +6 To Maximum Damage
Exp: No
1 Handed: 8-29
2 Handed:
Thrown: No
Dur: 10

Unique Weapon:

Name: Lightsabre
Description: Phase Blade, Indestructible, +150-200% Enhanced Damage,Adds 10-30 Damage, Adds 60-120 Magic Damage, Adds 1-200 Lightning Damage, 5-8% Mana Stolen Per Hit, 5% Chance to Cast Slvl 8-16 Chain Lightning on Attack, 20% Increased Attack Speed, Ignore Target's Defense, Lightning Absorb 25%, +7 to Light Radius
Exp: Yes
1 Handed: 90-138
2 Handed:
Thrown: No
Dur: None (Indestructible Weapon)

Set Weapon:

Name: Angelic Sickle
Description: Sabre, +75 to Attack Rating, 250% Damage vs. Undead, 75% Enhanced Damage (2 Items), 30% Increased Attack Speed (3 Items)
Exp: No
1 Handed: 3-14
2 Handed:
Thrown: No
Dur: 32

As you can see, the difference in the properties of each weapon differs greatly with each weapon class, with being quite poor when normal, alot better when it is rare, and very good when it is Unique (by the way, the LightSabre is an Elite Unique weapon, so it's stats are very good because it is the highest class of weapon), and set weapons are good but even better when you have the whole set, so the special bonus abilites come into effect, and they are generally pretty good.
Set items also have the Normal, Exceptional and Elite classes aswell, with Elite being the best of the best, followed by Exceptional and then followed by normal, and normal weapons are generally not that good, but if it has sockets then it is good, well it can be good if you socket it with good gems or runes

Some bad points which ruins your online gaming is I guess being hacked/scammed.
It is quite annoying, and luckily I have not had any of my characters hacked or scammed, but it really does make the game a little less enjoyable, well when it happens to you I guess.
I wonder why people do it, but oh well.

The Story of Diablo 2 is a bit of a continuation of Diablo 1, but this time Diablo 2 has imprisoned himself inside the one that killed him in the previous Diablo (Diablo 1).
In this game, not the expansion, you have 4 acts to go through, and the 4th one is where you meet Diablo.
Well I should go from the beginning really.
Diablo 2 is where Diablo free's his brothers, Mephisto and Baal.
Mephisto being Lord of Hate and Baal being Lord of Destruction, and Diablo is Lord of Terror.
You have to eventually kill Mephisto, and then kill Diablo, and then that is it.

Diablo 2 LoD (expansion) has a new act to go through, and many more items, quests, runes, and other stuff has been added, along with the 2 new character classes (druid and assasin) so that is good.
In LoD, you get to kill Baal, Lord of Destruction, and you can also go through all the acts again and kill Mephisto and Diablo, and then move onto killing Baal.

The expansion of Diablo 2, is in my opinion, a much better game and it has alot of new features.
It makes the whole gaming experience way better than the Diablo 2.

Well I really enjoy this game, and I recommend it to anyone that wants fun and a challenge.
I hope this was a little more insight for you about this game.
Thanks and enjoy playing

Ok William... There are a lot of things that I disagree with you about D2: LoD.. Like Enigma best armor in the game! CoH is much better for melee chars like zealots. And lightsabre sucks! I do have it on my zealot thought.. But ist really sucks. Cause dmg is poor, range is only 2, attributes arent that well expect it has some magic dmg, and lighting dmg(against physcical immunities ofc). In D2 there arent any best equipments, it depends always what kind of char are you using.. But mostly good text about D2.

PS. Your def isnt that good, my assa got better def, pala has 28k..

I never said my defense was good.
And you want to know hy Enigma is one of the best armour in the game?
Because it gives you teleport ability, and thats very good because you can teleport places quickly obviously

Lightsabre is a good sword, I put perfect skull into it, so that I can have life steal.

And lightsabre is a sword not a bow, so it has no range

Have you even seen a Lightsabre, some of you're comments are quite untrue.

And there are some best items in Diablo 2, I am not sure if you have played this game much, but from what you said, it does not sound like it

First I have played this game anout 2 years now.. and enigma is one of the best but not the best armor in the game. it is good for hammerdins, bonemancers, eledruids... but for melee char it sucks, you might get some def, tele, and life, but CoH is the best for melee, cause you get skills, def, dmg, leech, life, dmg red %...

And every weapon has range. Expect bows.. And Lightsabre has 2, but flails have 3 as the best melee weapon in game(I mean one-handed) Berserker Axe aka Zerker or BA.

And I do have lightsabre, like I said. And I put amn there cause you get 7 life stolen from it..

CaptLoser, I agree, Fort is actually pretty good, both the weapon and the armour.
The best shield for Paladins is probably Hoz.
Enigma is good because of the teleport skill that it gives you, very useful for rushes and baal runs and all of that.

I recently got Anni Charm, gies +16 to all attributes, so when my Dexterity skill goes up that means I gain a little more defense.
Without any Holy Shield, my defense is 1700 and with it on, it goes to about 4700, which is pretty good.
My life steal is really good, about 20% life steal now so that can really help when in hell and surrounded by heaps of enemies so yeah.

Unfortunately if I wanted more life steal, I should have put in an amn rune into my Lightsabre that I sockted, instead I put a perfect skull into there which was a little foolish but yeah, gives 4% life steal, whereas an amn rune gives 7% life steal so yeah.

But my items are really improving and yeah, so I am just wondering now when the next Ladder starts.

EDIT: thanks mightymage for the qp

EDIT AGAIN:

I think that these following runewords should be mentioned:

Breath of the Dying (BOTD)

Allowed Items: 6 Socket Weapons

Rune Order: Vex + Hel + El + Eld + Zod + Eth

Stats:
50% Chance To Cast Level 20 Poison Nova When You Kill An Enemy
Indestructible
+60% Increased Attack Speed
+350-400% Enhanced Damage (varies)
+200% Damage To Undead
-25% Target Defense
+50 To Attack Rating
+50 To Attack Rating Against Undead
7% Mana Stolen Per Hit
12-15% Life Stolen Per Hit (varies)
Prevent Monster Heal
+30 To All Attributes
+1 To Light Radius
Requirements -20%

Enigma

Allowed Items: 3 Socket Body Armour

Rune Order: Jah + Ith + Ber

Stats:
+2 To All Skills
+45% Faster Run/Walk
+1 To Teleport
+750-775 Defense (varies)
+ (0.75 Per Character Level) +0-74 To Strength (Based On Character Level)
Increase Maximum Life 5%
Damage Reduced By 8%
+14 Life After Each Kill
15% Damage Taken Goes To Mana
+ (1 Per Character Level) +1-99% Better Chance of Getting Magic Items (Based On Character Level)

Enigma gives +2 to all skills, for example: increases all Offensive Defensive and Combat skills (paladins) other character classes have different names, like a barb may not have Defensive Auras for example, I am not to sure.

The Teleport skill works for any character class, although it is a Sorceress spell, it can work for Paladin, Barbarian, Druid, Assasin, Necromancer and yeah.

Fortitude

Allowed Items: 4 Socket Weapons/Body Armor

Rune Order: El + Sol + Dol + Lo

Stats:

Weapons
20% Chance To Cast Level 15 Chilling Armor when Struck
+25% Faster Cast Rate
+300% Enhanced Damage
+9 To Minimum Damage
+50 To Attack Rating
20% Deadly Strike
Hit Causes Monster To Flee 25%
+200% Enhanced Defense
+X To Life (Based on Character Level)*
All Resistances +25-30 (varies)
12% Damage Taken Goes To Mana
+1 To Light Radius

Body Armor
20% Chance To Cast Level 15 Chilling Armor when Struck
+25% Faster Cast Rate
+300% Enhanced Damage
+200% Enhanced Defense
+15 Defense
+X To Life (Based on Character Level)*
Replenish Life +7
+5% To Maximum Lightning Resist
All Resistances +20-30 (varies)
Damage Reduced By 7
12% Damage Taken Goes To Mana
+1 To Light Radius

The + to all Resistances is actually really good, and Fort would be really good for me in hell, as in hell you're resistances go down, as they do in Nightmare.
For example if in a normal game you're resistances may be all 75, in nightmare they might go down to 35 and in hell go down to -20. That's just an example though.
The Rune order needed for Fortitude is actually pretty good, as they are not that rare items, except for Lo, which is a high rune or hr.

Light Radius is pretty good, as it always is.

Enhanced Defense and Damage is also really good, Enhanced Defense being good, and sometimes the Armour's defense can go up to 4000 if you are really lucky, maybe if it is a perfect Fort but still that's awesome.

So in comparison, Enigma vs Fort, you may not be able to compare, as Fort is good for certain things, perhaps for melee characters and Enigma is used for other certain things that Fort is not useful for.
For example, the teleport, Fortitude does not have that, and that's why many people might rather Enigma than Fort, mainly cos of the Teleport, but I might be wrong about that.

But still, Fort and Enigma are really good items.

Breath of the Dying is another awesome item, and should not be forgotten, and another good runeword is Last Wish, which has some really awesome stats.

Hope this info may have proven useful for you.

Lightsabre is a very descent sword imo.
* Nice to have on the switch for duels because of the lightning absorb
* It's probably the fastest weapon in the game, and I assume it would help smiters in duels a lot as well
* Might be useful for zealots using crushing blow a lot, though I guess there are better candidates for a weapon than ls

Overall it's a weapon that should get a melee character through hell easily, so I wouldn't exactly call it bad.  Used to have one on my dueling pally, but haven't found a new ls since I've started playing again.

Thats why I often use it because it is fast, and good for Tesladins, because it does Lightning Damage, and since Tesladins use Holy Shock (lightning aura) then you figure it out

It can be better with Life Steal aswell, because of its speed, you wil gain life very easily, life steal means you steal the enemies life with every hit that you inflict upon it, so if you are on 100 health and are surrounded by enemies and you start swinging, then you will gain life, and in theory, if you have really good life steal, then you don't have a need for pots then (pots = potions, just shorter form of saying it)

EDIT:

You can open them with Modding programs, but be careful while doing that, because if you do not make a backup of the .mpq files, then you can stuff up you're game.
Thats what I tried doing, the modding program I had was awesome, could change anything in the game by reading the .mpq files, except I forgot to make a backup, so when I saved it and all of that, it stuffed up the game, and I couldn't restore it, so I had to uninstalll the game.
So for you're own good, learn how to mod the game and back it all up first before trying any of this stuff, because you're game could be stuffed for a long time.

thanks for that, but I recently got a 6 socket Phase Blade, and ACCIDENTLY put an el rune into it.
I am hoping to make the runeword Destruction from it, but yeah I might try to unsocket it and then perhaps put in a unique jewel into it or an amn rune so I can get some more life steal, 3% more life steal to be exact

EDIT:

You can also do this thing:

3 Perfect Skulls
+ 1 Stone of Jordan
+ 1 Rare

That Adds 1 socket to the Rare you use.

Diablo 2 Expansion Recepies

You can click that link for more recepies, just a few more anyway but still

Here is the link:

Modding Program

Use at you're own risk, and I am not sure if you can extract the movements of the diablo2 creatures and put them into the WoG creatures if that is what you are trying to do, but give it a go and see what you think of it

If you want I can try and get you some of the creatures graphics and then send them to you somehow?
