Mysterious Writings

I have noticed that some units such as the archangel and the paladin have written on their attire something undecipherable(to me anyway!).Does it have any significance or was it randomly created? The archangel's seems rather weird having clearly a word 'Die'.

The writings on the archangels' clothes are probably in latin, in which "Die" means "God". Also, it's not pronounced as "Die" but rather as "Di-ee" or something (not sure on this one as I'm not a native English speaker...)

Somebody else recently noticed this.  I'm thinking it's German, or quite possibly Romanian.  You know, the homeland of vampires in the archaic sense.

Declension

In linguistics, declension is a paradigm of inflected nouns and adjectives. In many Indo-European languages, the inflected forms indicate its grammatical role. An example in English is the way he changes to him when it follows a verb or preposition, and to his when it is possessive. (He is my friend. I know him. I sent it to him. This is a book of his.)

In inflected languages, nouns are said to decline into different forms, or morphological cases, which indicate the nouns' function in a sentence.(...)

'Dei' is genitive, 'Deus' is nominative.

The writing -which is on the vampire's sword- says:"Die Schwinge des Todes" (it's German) which means something like "the wind of death".

Yet another rpg touch.I guess everyone likes to name his own (cool glowing magical)weapons!
Hey samjack could you possibly translate the writings on Godric's sword?Wonder what a tired virtuous knight would call his weapon!  I think you could see it clearly in the last stage of haven campaign'cutscenes.Oh btw did you make out the archangel's?

If I remember well, Godric's sword bears the same inscription as the vampire's sword
archangel has "Die Heiligkeit" (also German) on its skirt-or-what
btw it means salvation or holiness (rather holiness)

I go now, and check Godric's sword

Robe perhaps..?
Could Godric be a death cultist? Is is behind everything? Or maybe he kills vamps and takes their weapons since he likes life drain? Is there a chance Nival was too bored to make another insignia?
This mystery must be resolved at all costs!

almost forgot...the knights (heroes) have the "Die Mut" inscriptions on their shoulders. If it's in German, "Mut" means courage, morale and
"die" is a definite article(like "the" in English)
BUT! In the German language there are 3 definite article depending on the noun's gender: masculine (Der), feminine (Die), or neutral(Das).
the noun "Mut" is masculine, so it's definite article should be "Der", not "Die"...
(its def.article could be "die" if "Mut" is in plural, but then the noun gets an "es" ending -> Der Mut - Die Mutes)
IMO it isn't Latin, I couldn't find these words in the dictionary
interesting,isn't it?

okay...robe
I hope Godric's dark past (if he had at all) will be revealed in the expansion
a noble paladin who steals swords?...hmmm
IMO it would be great if the knights had different inscriptions on their swords, for instance: The Will of God (upsie...they're not Christians) or something connected to the Light

any idea?

I also noticed there is something on the robe of inquisitors. It says "Der Ruhm den Helden" which means something like "glory to the heroes" or "honor to the heroes".

So it's true then...Godric is a fallen knight fully consumed by darkness. He is the least likely to suspect, wasn't attacked by the archdevil in the intro when he was vulnerable and wanted Isabel to return so that she can give birth to the Demon Messiah! He probably helped the Sovereign place the mark on her!I should have known!
Ok maybe I got it a bit too far!^_^
