Hmm...

He He He... this is all very funny. But lets get bake to work Weather would be a great idea! And weather could afected the moral of troops and the movmen't of your heroes.

Some Examples

RAIN-Your movement will be slower and the speed of your creatures in battle
MIST-Almost just like the "FOG OF WAR"in the battlefield or in the aventure map u only can c a little of the battlefield/aventure map

Pretty good...

But the thing is do you want it there? Coz it's gonna be another obstacle in the game which will cause a harder gameplay!

The idea is good, try to send it to 3DO!

maybe when mist covers the battlefield, archers could hit even allied troops...

I'm reminded of Panzer General. I think that Armor moved slower; you had shorter attack range and flying units couldn't fly.
I voted "no", not because it's a bad idea but with "PG" I, and all the other people I knew just turned the weather off after a while 'cos it was just too hindering.
There is always room for improvement though.

yea then u will be need more tactics 2 win a battle.And maybe u can read the weather forecast in the tavern

First Day and night!

Okay This is how it works... The day and night is just like in the Might and magic games.. Before the day is over it has to be Day and night.. NOT only Day... That's boring i think... Many creatures have better (or weaker) Power during Nighttime and daytime.. many creatures dissapear during daytime or become other creatures during daytime.. or simply turn into statues... Like gargoyle and troll..They become stone statues.. because they can't stand light from the day/sun.. They Are wortless during daytime and are statues then that can only defence. Vampires change into bats during daytime.. and werewolfs into peasants...
Here are all the creatures that have specials and other things during day and nighttime..

ULTIMATE DAY/NIGHT creatures are:
Sun dragon(who can turn night into day or make the day longer) this creature is only in scenarios were time has no role.. He looks like a dragon on flames like the phoenix
Moon Dragon(She can turn day into night and make the night last longer..) this creature is only in scenarios were time has no role..She looks like the fairy dragon model with mooncolours and the wings of an angel on head end of tail and back..


Dissapear during daytime(Only in the underground levels they will stay 24 ours)
Will o Wisp,Scarecrow,Zombie,Troglodyte,Ghost
Special things about some of them like the Scarecrow.. When it's daytime they will turn into lifeless Scarecrows.. then you can put them on the Moving map before a building.. this the scarecrow will protect this building against wandering birds(roc,****atrice and Thunderbirds) They don't attack the building then.. but when nighttime againt you can go to them and pick them up again!
Will o Wisp zombie and ghost will dissapear during daytime and will become visiable during night again.. In underground levels there will be still wandering wisps zombies and ghost... the troglodyte has the same story! Only during storm this creatures can come to the daytime too!But when the storm ends they will vanish again..

Weaker during nighttime are:
Light Elemental(Only summonable by the Magi),Unicorn,Sun Dragon,Hobbit(Halfling) and sharpshooter. Some of them will Lose Hitpoints and others will lose their specials or maybe even have lesser Morale like the unicorns who are 100% daycreatures,and sharpshooters can't see much in nighttime so they loose their shot penalty.

Stronger during nighttime:
Gyspy,Rook,Nightmare,Incubus/Succubus,Death Knight,Banshee,Moon Dragon,Dark Angel,Rogue. All this creatures will have more special points and attack points maybe speed points during nighttime! Like the Thieveguild is only open at night... and the Gyspy can only summon/turn into wolfs during nighttime.

Hidding during nigttime!
Some black and shady creatures can hide in the shadows during nighttime.. The enemies can't see them anymore then and they can do a SURPRICE ATTACK THEN! (attack from behind so the creatures can't attack back..) This is handy because the creatures can walk in every dirrection in homm4!
Creatures that can do this are: Hell cat/Cat female,Shade,Ninja and the 2 headed black dragons!

Scary Transformations during nighttime!
Peasant-Werewolf
Pirate-Wererat
Moon Bear
Hell Hound
Shade
Gargoyle
Troll
Conscript-Hell Cat
Nosferatu-White Bat
Vampire-Giant Bat
Skull Moth Cocon

This is very NEW then! Some creatures can be infected.. Like the wolf can infect Peasants and the Giant Rat can infect Pirates.. The Cheetaur can infect Conscript... YOu will win and leave with your creatures..( If the cheetaur wolf and Giant rat kill the peasant,Pirate and conscript it will not work SO STAY ALIVE WITH THEM!) Then they will win.. but during nighttime they will turn into much better creatures! The half cat half female Hell Cat! And the Werewolf and the Pirate into a Wererat! M&M8 newest creation! This creatures will turn into the other again when day falls.. other like the gargoyle and troll will turn into stone during daytime.. the troll will be useless during daytime(only in Underground levels they will be troll 24 ours) But the Gargoyle will turn into a firespitting statue! (that can attack like a ballista..) During nighttime they will become the living gargoyle and troll again..And then they will be able to move again!
Other creatures like Hell hound and Moon bear.. Are a normal black dog and white bear during daytime.. But when night falls.. they will turn into creatures beyond your fantasy! Scary like hell! And their speed,Attack,Defence and morale will ow FLY high up to MUCH higher stats!
The vampire and the Vain Nosferatu will turn into level1 bats during nightime.. and turn into level 2 vampires during nighttime.. The shade absorbs the night and becomes a level 4 creature during nighttime! In daytime it's a level 1 creature! WOW
Skull moth becomes a cocon during nighttime and can only fight during nighttime.. The cocon can handle many damage! But can't attack...Even the nemean lion his defence isn't that greath compaired by the cocon of the skull moth!

Other specials during night and day time!
Some creatures like druids and The queen of death will have other specials during nighttime! Queen of death can summon much more undead creatures during nighttime then she can during dayttime.. and the druid can turn into a wolf and owl during nighttime but into a hawk and bear during daytime(who are better so the druid is more likely a day creature)


NATURAL DISSASTERS!
There must be some disasters too! Like Tornados,Vulcans,Geisers,Tidal waves,Whirlpools and thunder strikes....And don't forget Earthquakes! When going into battle.. some disasters like the Tornados will already be there.. they will go over the battlefield and do damage to the ones that he hit.. so the creatures don't only have trouble with the enemy.. also this twister forms a serious trouble.. but the enemy has also trouble with this tornado.. this is just a NON choosing side disaster! Also on fire levels sometimes vulcanos spit fire into the air.. that fire can also do many damage to your creatures.. same with earthquakes avalaches falling rocks and falling snow..in water Tidal waves and Whirlpools will do serious damage...The thunder i will only come down when the a storm breaks free!.. Sometimes the sun shines but sometimes it rains.. but sometimes it will storms.. the mighty storm dragon will even be able to let is storm! Some nature disasters will be very handy aswel! Like the vulcanos and the buring trees...when thunder has hit them... Imps and salamanders can do something with this fire... Imps will multilpy when touching fire! And salamander will gain hit points when having contact with fire! This is also with many water creatures.. like gremlings will multiply when they touch water and also the water elemental...


The storm specials!
Storm is the most common and most cool special disaster.. because there is a creature that can actually make it storm! This is one of the coolest creatures all times! The Dark blue storm dragon! He is much stronger then his snowblue and red brothers..( Who can summon blizzards and vulcanoes on battlefield) But storm dragons can summon storm... ) Many creatures have specials during storm and also during rain and stuff.. This are the creatures and specials during storm.

Damage=On fighting grounds when a storm breaks free or is summoned by the storm dragon. this will damage some creatures every round!
Dissapear=Some wandering creatures will dissapear during storms and when the storm stops they will be back again...
Weaker=some creatures lose their specials during a storm or loose speed and other things...
Imp-Fire will multiply their armies! But rain and storm will take that half from them! they are also weaker during storm!
Mummy will dissapear from the map and is weaker during battles..
Many fire creatures like fire elementals, magogs,balrogs and Devils will Get damage and are weaker during battle and will dissapear from the map..
Sea creatures like Lamprey,Leviathan,mermaid and scylla gain Speed points and are better during storm!
Earth creatures are also weaker and slower during storm.. However mantrays and sand wyrms will move faster underground! Because the earth is mud now...

creatures can't be poisoned during storm! Like the Skull moths and Wyverns poison can't affect you during storm! The rain will make the poison dissapear..

Thunder is another interesting thing during storm.. it will mostly hit in trees... and high creatures like Titans Dendroids and dragons.. this effect is the same like the Thunderbirds thunder...When hitting a tree this tree will burn... and creatures like imps and salamanders can gain their hitpoint again!
When having dendroids during storm this creatures will be always hit by thunders... the other creatures are safe then...

Like i said before the storm dragon can summon a storm.. But can't stop it.. this will random happen.. sometimes a storm takes some minuts other times it will be only 1 minute.. Thunderbirds have the ability to stop a storm!

Others cant use their specials! Like the doppelganger can't change shape during rain or storm.. and the Khamelion can't become invisible during storm..
The behemoth with his many hair loses his speed... Because his many hair makes him heavy during rain or storm..

Some other creaturs can't move during rain or storm... Like the samurai, Rust dragon and Mechanic dragon.. they are all made from metal or other stuff that will rust during rain or other wet days.. they can't move on battlefield but also not on the adventure map!

Some creatures uses storms for very good reasons! Like the dryad! All the lost dryads that where killed during the battle will gain again when a storm breaks lose! ( this only works on a fighting screen)

One creature even evolves during storm! Like the Forest dragon! He will become the Ultimate Battle machine during storm! Others hate it! like the Venom spawn who can't use one of his many poison abilities! ;o)

some ideas sounded really nice here..

especially the creatures that could summon day/night/storm, although i would rather expect sth like:
night - black dragon or balrog
day - phoenix or angel
storm - thunderbird
or maybe they could be neutral creatures. so you would concentrate on taking out the opposing weather affecting creatures asap, if you needed to benefit from a different weather.

oh, well.. the difficulty of implementing will probably be the main limitation.. so i will rather not get into details here. anyone got some technical ideas how this could be done?

Regarding night and day: wouldn't the easiest be two split each day into two movement phases: one for day and one for night.

Creatures would then gain bonuses or penalties according to their abilities in in each phase. One thing which is obviously affected would be how many movement points are available. Players would be encouraged to split their troops to maximize movement.

Most undead, blind creatures and creatures that spend a lot of time underground would have a reasonable day and night movement.

Others will have to remain hidden away during the day or the night. What happens if you capture a town during the day, when the trolls comes out from their caves from inside the town in the night?

As Incubus mentioned, some creatures may have different shapes during night and day. Different shapes implies different stats.

Natural disasters:
Should be rare and happening when you move on the adventure map. I don't think the game should account for natural disasters during battle. It would be nice to have some timed events and zones of instability which you can tailor in the Map Editor. (Volcano erputing, Earthquakes, Whirlpools, and also weather things like Blizzards and Tornados.)

It shouldn't be too difficult to add these things in the Map editor. The Map Editor should perhaps also allow for seasons. But then each season should probably be 1 Month long or so. (Not many games would last long enough to see all seasons otherwise.)

Seasons is also a way to modify how many hours of daylight and nighttime there is each day, and the probability for certain natural disasters (= weather phenomenon) also depend on season.

I'm not sure how exactly weather condition should affect the game, but one likely consequence is that bad weather will increase the terrain penalty in areas with bad weather.

more weather ideas

also as have been mentioned creatures would get bonuses/penalties in weather and day&night.
Like zombies would be weaker at day as all undead.
Elves and preserve cratures would have no penalties or bonuses in weather/day or night becouse they are trained to fight in any conditions.
Asylum would have bonuses in night and in storm weather becase they are attached to night.
Barbars would have bonus in day, heat and almost anyweather
beacuse they are strong fighters.
Humans would have bonus in day and a little penalty in night.
Academy day and snow because those are they'r conditons in the town.

I'll post more later.

about the day night idea it could work lets say u have 5 minutes for each turn then 2/5min. for the day time and 2/5min. for the night time

i guess we are getting to shamanism here, but sth like:

when you walk in a volcanic area, you can encounter some volcanoe spirit who will start to cast meteor shower on your troops until you manage to slay him.

That reminds me of the Daemon Cave from HoMM2 where you go in and either challenge the master and get killed/gain 2500xp or fight the guards- 40 elementals. But good idea put it in as a random event.
That brings up another thing if they have wandering creatures y not wandering/random events?
