Poll Question: Combination Towns
Does anyone think that in the map editor you should be able to take certain structures from certain towns to create the "ultimate town?"

lol lol lol
...sure the buildings are basically in the same places in each town, but just how would that work? I mean its not like military factions of different races and origins have knowledge of their own architecture and can raise buildings of that sort in towns they take over, and then convince those of their race to come and join his ranks...
...yeah, then you can get totally diverse towns, a crucible of of sorts...hmm, now that I think of it, it isn't such a bad idea...except it may look a bit strange...

sure.. as an option in a map editor it would be nice to create custon towns. if the creator of the map creates a bad-looking town, this will just be a bad map, nothing more.
if implementing this option will pay off work vs result is a different question.

An option like this one, combined with the new scripting system can be useful to make a lot more specified and non-linear map or campaign.

Actually, it's a very interesting idea.
We've been told there are towns that you can build into whatever type you want in H4, but this is another kettle of fish.
Presumably, you'd choose the mage guild from one type, with its two associate libraries, and merrily mix up your 2 level 1, and the level 2-4 dwellings? Then add a special feature from another town? (say, some of those creature portals from the Preserve, or the blacksmith from the Stronghold?) It would be wonderfully weird, and the possible morale problems might keep it from being too unbalanced.
Unfortunately, I'm willing to bet that the current editor in H4 won't allow it. But, there's always the inevitable expansion.

Yes, but (here goes my opinion again) I would not like to see this town:
Name: Mixed Up 1
Level 1: Skeleton
Level 1: Orc
Level 2: Gold Golem
Level 2: Elf
Level 3: Efreet
Level 3: Unicorn
Level 4: Angel
Level 4: Devil
Hmmm... Maybe a bad example, but it still doesn't make sence...

Naaaa, the idea would kind of kill the game - after a while not to towns would be alike in any maps you download from the net. And then the whole idea of making the towns have different identities/stories would be lost.
I can imagine it is a map makers dream, but after a while it would be a map makers night mare (not much unlike genome manipulation!!!)

I like this idea.
Preserver, nobody in their right mind would make a town like that! THe heroe would have -3 morale the whole time unless they had an artifact and leadership.

it is possible to create a bad map even without combination towns. if you create a bad town, your map will be nothing more than another bad map.
an option of combination towns does not mean you would have to use it.
combination towns might sometimes enable nice and interesting storylines or strategies.

I don't think so
If you do this, the towns lose their identities, so to speak. The whole point of having 6 town types is so that each one can be unique. If you allow mix-and-match, then the 6 types are blurred and indistinct. If they make this an option, I will never play a map with a mix-and-match town.
