A reasonable time needs to be compromised with other players.
Some players are not as fast as the others.
Sometimes the mouse or computer is not fast.
Communication is a must is these games.
I know if i played 2 minutes in heroes 3 I would lose my turn a good amount of time.
Even in 4 minutes if i am in a big turn, I might lose a turn.
I hate being rushed.
I am also known to be one of the quickest players in heroes also in most of my turns .

As for H5, the way this is set up, you might as well turn the timer off. Some really tough battles can take all of 10 minutes just for the 1 fight alone. Hopefully they come out with a patch that will address the issue of having the timer run during battles. If they do this, 6 min. turns is good for me.
if they stopped timers from running in battles i would never play this game again its not a bug its the way its supposed to work. And i beleive a huge improvement over h3. if a battle takes you takes you over 10 minutes i beleive your trying to fight things when your to low lvl.

Not that way. I would like if 1 turn cost 1 movement point on global map, to penaltize long battles, but not timed battles, that make more advantage to fast clickers...

Just look at it this way...
If you know you only have 4 minutes per turn just plan accordingly and you won't run into problems.
even though I know I can kill 100 zombies with 1 sprite, Im not going to do that on a multiplayer game and then complain when my time runs out.

And look another way: for example your clicking speed and opponents clicking speed differs in 1.5 time. You play 8 min. 3 min is enough to do all moves on global map. So what he can do in 5 min you can do only in 7.5 and lose becouse this handicap. Nice??? Also autocombat for example can work good for some races (knights, wizards, Deleb ) and bad for another...

Heh Saves not possible to load without opponent since homm4.
Here also if opponent gone and no comps, game is ended automatically, so you can't see, what lies in mage guilds, wich huts e.t.c...
And if cheater profficient, he can increase stats for his "sprite" for 1 combat faster than in 1 min, and take them back.
So i not care about cheaters. But wanna interesting games.

- Hey,
- Thats the spirit,Ghast
- I havent played any rated games so far, but have had some pretty decent and fun games ( 2-3- and even 4 ways ) and we just talk a bit about how much time each have and we set the timer ( if any ) after that criteria... problem solved

another reason why there should be higher time limit
I just finshed this great game on Dragon Pass with Betruger.
We agreed to NO DD rule.
Game went into week 7.
He attacked me for final fight, and fight lasted very long.
I made him surrender....
He runs out of time......
I play my turn....
He gets his turn on Day 1. GUESS WHAT???
His hero no longer there because of day 1.
THAT is why low time limits suck.
Time limit is good for final fights. Doesnt mean that if you put high time limits during the game that all the turns will take that long. The time limit is good for the end of the game, where in our case, had he had time to purchase his hero and army from tavern, we would have had another fight.
Alos, i attacked him with a scout on one of my turns, he was away from keyboard.....i wasted 3 minutes for him to come back.....
So for those of you who insist on very low time limits we shall never play

None of this would even be an issue if the timer did not run during battles. Plain and simple!
Because even if you set the time limit to 10 mins....the final battles could easily take longer then that. So what limit is high enough?
In my current game with Karim....we have the time limit set to 15 mins. And majority of my turns I end there are still approx 10 mins left. So even tho the extra time is available if you need it...doesnt mean it will be used every time...
I say if nothing else UBI needs to add an option in next patch that allows for timer during battles to be turned off.

At least time shouldnt run during human battles. The opponent could just let the time run out or play slowly. To easy to get an advantage like that.

i've surrenedered with heroes before and they were still in tavern the next week. and if the hero does not show up right away you normally simply have to buy 1 or 2 heroes and the hero will show back up. also after this happeneded didn't you just reload the save and have him not attack that day seems like a very simple solution to a minor problem.
and in my last game with bobby ohms i could have possibly made him fight me 2 times in my castle. cause my main hero was to far away to reach castel that day and he attacked my secondary hero in castle but time was gone after the fight. The answer to this problem is so simple everyone in my opinion. i would not have gone into town that day even if i could have with my main hero do to this reason. and i wouldn't play people who took advantage of something like that.
back when i played h4 there was a trick useable and after it happened i made sure to specify that it could not be done before each game. i attacked my enemys hero and he town portaled out of the fight. any way he came back next day and easily wiped out my army do to this trick. So i simply stated before games no town portaling out of fights for the rest of my games.

The minimum time that I will play is 5 minutes, although I prefer 10+. Will probably have to play without time limit sometime as sometimes even 10 minutes runs out, especially during the final battles against the other player.

GREAT! Seems there are alot more players that agree longer time limits are needed, then I thought. Sounds like I wont have any trouble finding a game. Thats great news.
