D&D mod - your opinions?

Good time of day to you, people!

During a few years i try to realize some idea (wog mod in one word) and would like to hear your opinion... I not the man of the forums, so it is my 1st post on official forum since my membership in WoG team.. he-he.

I am trying to make heroes similar to D&D conception, but not in the whole - only some aspects and there are following:

1. Rework all creatures parameters and abilities
2. Rearrange creatures in the castles and change their levels
3. Add/replace some monsters based on D&D

May be some of you will consider this as plain "rebalancing" mod, but i think this will be not the same.

I really would like to discuss it with you (because i am working alone) and to know what do you think about all this.

It would be nice if you could somehow include some of the NWN creatures or objects into WoG. And some of their rules. Especially if you could include some of the Artifacts!

Actually I'm interested in your idea...Hm...I maybe could even help...
What if making everything as you want and somehow add new upgrading system...I mean something like in Disciples..(Creatures upgrade by gaining experiance not for money...and you can choose what you want the creature upgrade to)..It's just a suggestion to all your project...

Well . . .

I think it's an interesting idea. Design changes might include:

~Painting the imps brown/green and renaming them to kobolds.
~Make Orcs from trolls
~Paint the Behemoths into Ogres or something like that.
~Black and green dragons spit acid, Red and Gold = fire, Blue ones breath ice
~Program dragons to cast certain spells
~Nagas are evil, work for Balors, and are called Tanari
~Scorpicores should be called sphinx
~Wizards should summon golems
~Ranger class should have racial enemy as specialty skill
~Priests turn, destroy, or convert Undead
~Paladins have a Holy Avenger
~Heroes need Alignment, not the towns: Lawful good, Chaotic Good, Neutral Good . . . etc
~Magic Arrow should be called: Magic Missile
~Give a Behemoth horns and a tail and call it a Terrasque
~Dragons can talk and have Polymorph self
~Inferno should be called: Nine Hells
~Make Drow Elves for Dungeon town
~Make Sirens for Fortress
~Dwarves use Axes NOT hammers
~Evil Eye is called a Beholder
~Give vampires hypnotize spell
~Magi are called: Wizards
~Genies and Ifreets are called: Elementals. Elementals are called Elementals except for the fire. Fire elemental is called Ifreet.
~Elves hate Dwarves and Dwarves hate elves.
~Need halfling & gnome heroes
~Need Thief class of heroes with ability to steal
~Liches must be much stronger
~Faerie Dragons need to be greatly weakened
~Enchanters should be called: Arch Wizard
~Grand elves should be called: Human archers, Sharpshooters should be called: Elves, Marskmen should be called: ranged henchmen, Halberdiers should be called: Local Guards, Crusaders should be called: Knights, Cavaliers should be called: Brotherhood of the Lance, Zealots should be called: Energy Elementals, Monks should be called: Advisors

Themes & Concepts

The Heroes Theme and concept is most closely associated with Greek, Roman,and early Arthurian legend (early historic Brittania). Example: Titans wear common Roman soldier themed attire. Heroes Themes are very much Roman Catholic influence by nature and design. Dante's Inferno is also very much an influence. Heroes Good and evil is more epic and related to Heaven and Hell.

Dungeons & Dragons give their minotaurs this roman look and reserve Titans (which usually are very lethargic, live at the top of a cloud mountain, and only wear a loin cloth) for Greek mythology campaigns. In Dungeons & Dragons the usual Arch Villain is a Maniacal Wizard or Undead Wizard(Lich). D&D does not have "angels" but rather projections of Pantheonic-based Gods called "avatars". Good and evil generally focuses on the choices/decisions of each individual character. D&D has Elysian, Olympia, and Nine Hells but not God and the Devil theme.

D&D is strictly pantheonic polytheistic while HOMM III supports traditional roman catholic monotheism. You will NEVER hear the words "Mandate of Heaven" in D&D.

Now, if I recall correctly, when Vampires die, just about everything around them will die too. They explode, set fire, etc. So, perhaps when a stack of Vampire Lords are gone, a huge fireball goes off where the stack was. I know this is not in D & D and such, but should've been.

I dont want to discuss about heroes basic concept. It is done by the developers and i dont what forced them to mix so units in one pile w/o some common base. My idea - to build ALL monsters, based on one conception, converting parameters with unified formulas.

About scripts... Well, i dont need much scripting work. It is mainly only graphic and text, so i will need just a good amount of testers to test the balance (though it will not be full until 3.59).

You won't get the rules from D & D in HoMM. But like I stated earlier, it would be nice to use most of the artifacts from it. Especially the NWN artifacts.
