hahah I foresaw this some months ago (maybe someone remembers? ) When I wrote that a dwarf town will introduce a dwarf with axe, a dwarf with bigger axe and a dwarf with biggest axe and will be dull in terms of variabilty. Call me a prophet xD

Maybe its not "giant dwarf" but is just "giant". Giants live with dwarf in many fantasy fiction, as well as in Norse mythology.

The dwarf is good for unit not for race, I mean, like in Heroes 3-1 dwarf unit.

...or mountain race with 1 dwarf, Magma Dragon or maybe Azure Dragon, Centaur, Harpy... and Ice Mage ? Why not ?

The dwarf faction is THE crappiest town I've ever seen. I mean, come on, if Nival ran out of ideas, why don't they check a fan forum - there must've been zillions of dwarf towns introduced in those places, with 100 times better creature lineups. There's more dwarf units in Fortress than human ones in Haven, and they don't even have a flier! If someone posted a faction like this in ICTC he would had a rating of -10.

But the rune magic ability and the bear riders are awesome.

EDIT: I didn't see their 6th level units are teleporters. It's still not the best idea, but it's better than having no fliers.

Dwarf is good for race as much as elf or human.
It just looks overdone in this case.
3-4 dwarven units would've been fine, but even Heaven has less human units then there is dwarven units now.
Exempt if Thane is not gigantic dwarf, but some type of giant.

I think many dwarf units isn't really so bad. Yes, it lacks some variety, but a town is more than just a bunch of creatures. Dwarves are a proud, stubborn and somewhat secluded race, and because there aren't many creatures in the heart of the mountains, it makes perfect sense that the dwarves will fight without the help of others.

First of all, the dwarven town is going to play balanced just like all the other towns do.  It's going to have shooters and caster(s) and ground troops.

Second of all I think the worst town idea I've ever seen in a Heroes game is the conflux.  Let's just throw all the elementals together and make it a town.  I like this dwarf stuff more than that.  But then, I like dwarves.

Let's wait and see how it plays before jumping to conclusions.

Does anyone know what the individual dwarf unit abilities are? I'm guessing shooter for defender and fire mage. maybe short range shooter for axe thrower. Enraged for brawler and no retaliation for berserker. Teleport for Stormlord. Caster for fire/flame mage. C'mon Nival... stop teasing us and reveal already...

Unofficial list of unit Specials:

Level 1: Defender (Enraged Armored, Large Shield)
....Upg: Stout Defender (Shield Wall)
Level 2: Axe Fighter (Wound)
....Upg: Axe Thrower (Shooter, No Melee Penalty)
Level 3: Bear Rider (Large, Enraged)
....Upg: Blackbear Rider (Armored, Paw Strike)
Level 4: Brawler (Immunity to Mind Control)
....Upg: Berserker (Berserker Rage)
Level 5: Fire Mage (Shooter. Caster. Magic-proof. Mark of Fire).
....Upg: Flame Mage (Crossfire)
Level 6: Thane (Large. Teleport. Stormstrike. Immunity to Lightning).
....Upg: Stormlord (Stormbolt)
Level 7: Lava Dragon (Fire Breath. Fire Shield. Elemental. Immunity to Fire.)
....Upg: Magma Dragon (Magma Shield instead of Fire Shield)

Wounding usually means that the unit will take bleeding damage on following turns, so I expect this to be the same. Crossfire should allow this unit to make area attacks similar to the Stonespikes spell. Stormstrike should allow the unit to do Lightning Damage to the unit adjacent to the target. Stormbolt should be some sort of Chain Lightning effect, but with full damage on all targets I think. I can only speculate on the Paw Strike and the Bersercer Rage as well as the Mark Of Fire and the Magma Shield.

No need for speculation,Jolly Joker has already commented on that:

Armored: 'This creature is resistant to all spells and effects that decrease Defense'.No master of fire for this one!

Shield Wall: 'Damage suffered by this creature from enemy attack is 10% less per every tile the attacker walked to hit'.Kinda the opposite of charge it seems.

Wound: 'In a successful attack, this creature has additional chance to decrease the target’s Speed (-50%) and Initiative (-30%)'.With such an ability why would you even upgrade it?!!

Paw Strike: 'This creature has a chance to push the target one tile aside and zero all the Initiative the target has accumulated'.Not bad for low speed creatures or those adjacent to your marksmen

Berserker Rage: 'When this ability is used, this creature drops its Defense to zero for the time being, and has the same amount of Offense increase, then attacks the nearest target automatically without suffering the retaliation strike (activated ability)'.Reminds the old frenzy spell,berzerker's initiative had better be good!

Mark of Fire: 'When attacking, this creature has a chance to damn the target, which will result in all the Fire damage suffered by it within a certain period of time being doubled'.No comment!

Crossfire: 'The creature has the attack area shaped as a cross'.Yeah seems like stone spikes.

Stormstrike: 'Besides usual damage, this creature strikes the target with lightning (non-magical damage), which then hits another enemy creature if there is one standing next to the target, and further on, until the chain interrupts. The lighting’s force is equal to that of the attack'.These haven players had better beware!

Stormbolts:'Once per battle, this creature can attack any chosen target with Storm Strike (activated ability)'.Uh titans would be pissed for imitating their call lightning ability.

Magma Shield: 'When this creature undergoes a melee attack, the attacker suffers Fire damage in the amount depending on its attack’s force'.Probably a better version of fire shield(?)

Pretty tricky,one would expect dwarves to be more straightforward

Ouch ... some of those abilities sound close to overpowered. The Fire Mage and the Stormlord are gonna be a pain in the a$$ when you have to fight them.

Pretty close.Damn just think of wound as a 2nd tier ability,not taking into account the more advanced ones.But there have to be some setbacks.BTW dwarves seems good necro(rune of exorcism) and dungeon(unit AND rune immunities even if random) counters.A mighty faction with good resistance the dream of every barbarian

yeap this town is very barbarian type... but I think HV still having space for the orcs, cyclops, trolls, goblins, etc. so maybe a second expasion is possible
