I don't like it (I mean dwarf). Since Heroes is fantasy fiction, they should I least put some other creatures than all dwarfs except the lava dragon. From what I see Heroes is not fantasy anymore but legend fiction something like that. And also I hate they put the dwarf's town name called "Fortress". Since Fortess is the lizard town as we know on Heroes 3. They should at least put something else rather than this.

I think with these dwarfs the game will be hard Lord of The Rings, this is Heroes not LOTR !!!

We have Heroes universe from HOMM 1,2,3,4 but in Heroes 5 HOF we have LOTR universe.

I must admit I still don't see any connection to the Barbarians in this line-up. You noticed the Dwarven Heroes stats of the level 15 Runemage in the Screenshot - which are 8-8-3-4. If we assume starting stats of 2-1-1-1 (see below), this would mean that increment chances are about 35 % / 35 % / 15 % / 15 %. Of course, this might be skewed by visiting map sites and equiping artefacts, but since the Rune Mage abilities seem to be boosted by about 18 points total (18-2 + 18-1 + 3-1 + 4-1) over 14 level increments, these effects will probably be minor. The above increment chances seem to me quite unlike the usual Barbarian stats, which will have a huge focus on Attack, and not a balanced Attack-Defense growth as seen here. A classical Barbarian would rather be like 13-6-2-2 (of course, this needs not be a "classical" Barbarian).

Also, take a look at the different Hero starting stats:

Knight: 1-2-1-1
Demon Lord: 2-0-1-2
Necromancer: 0-1-3-1
Warlock: 1-0-3-1
Wizard: 0-0-2-3
Ranger: 0-2-1-2

This still leaves the options for (to give some examples):

Warlord: 2-1-1-1 (= Runemage?)
Barbarian: 3-0-1-1
Beastmaster: 0-3-1-1
Sorcerer: 0-0-3-2
Battlemage: 1-1-2-1
Alchemist: 1-1-1-2

_____

Secondly, I think the whole line-up of the Dwarven town thing is very unlike what I connect to the Barbarian. Barbarians are primitive, crude, brutal and warloving - that fits badly with the Dwarven town we see here, which has been unwillingly dragged into battle, I seem to remember from what's out of the story so far (that might not be true). Still, we're talking about a class that have developed their entire own system of magic - not very Barbarian like! I might be wrong, and the Orcs might not return at all, but we do get numerous refferences to the Orcs in the calender, and them being alligned with the Nomadic races of the Eastern Plains, and I know there's no town on the map, but it would make excellent sense to bring in the old Barbarian theme in this connection.

Actually firebreath attacks don't do fire damage, not in H5.Maybe magma shield can be affected?

wound can appear in upgraded unit aswell. Check bear riders and blackbear riders. They're both large, but large is displayed only at unupgraded version. Same thing can happen with wound ;p

You didn't get me.Not connection but a faction a barbarian would love to command for the various resistances and battle-dedicated units(they DO seem to be).Otherwise Ubi/Nival may have thought barbarians were getting boring and needed to be refined as a faction thus keeping very few of its features and transforming it into something new.Of course this is speculation on my part but it could happen.Barbarians are still candidates for a new faction as much as nagas are.

True but a facelift can change many things even basic concepts.See how other factions were changed. Then again I don't support the idea dwarves are the new barbarians but they could have been a substitute.
Finally one thing about the barbarians:Having played the Crag Hack and Yog campaigns I don't feel they are exactly as you present them. They are proud people with honour that both love fighting and depend on it to survive. After all they lived in barren lands where life was harsh and food scarce so raids were essential. Also Winston Boragus apart from a good leader for them had some pretty interesting way of thinking. He believed he was hardening his enemies' soldiers on the borders and that attacking Yog to test his skills would prove his worth and determination before he could join Not really blood-thirsty but certainly tough and fair.As dwarves are.Of course I know that barbarian morality is low since they  easily followed Kilgor and became murderers in his name. And did pretty much the same after his passing but these guys were illiterate and needed someone for guidance to show them the path they needed to follow.

True ... I was not so much referring to the in-game story as the unit line-up in the old games: Orcs, Goblins, Ogres, Trolls, Cyclops and Behemoths. Not exacty the gentle types. And as you say, the developers might have just decided to discard the Barbarians, nothing wrong with that (well, that's their choice).

I would say, however, that the present factions are VERY close to the earlier game (Haven = Castle, Academy = Tower, Sylvan = Rampart, Inferno and Necropolis even remains) so it would be surprising if they completely reorganiced the Barbarian into a Dwarven town, and then launched it as "Barbarian" - something that'd also upset of lot of fans of the old Barbarians.

It just dawned on me that the renegades in the expansion storyline probably are Lord Caldwell and his followers. They appear at the beginning of the Sylvan campaign and ask Alaron for a piece of land near the borders. In return they would help the elves should war come to them but I don't recall them being mentioned afterwards. We are left to wonder if they stayed there, defended the elves, fell or fled.I suppose their fate will be revealed with the expansion.
Further speculation may suggest that they may turn from their ideals to gain power(not sure how but usually that's the case) as a campaign choice or they will face Isabel's corrupt army.Either way is possible for the red units to appear.

I don't like this dwarf town too much ... The old Dwarf is not around, sure there are many dwarf like creatures, but none that is called Dwarf actually . In my oppinion there are too many infact! Anyway the abilities are interesting, but the town concept isn't ... Will this be a good town or a neutral ? Maybe adding two towns would've been more reasonable !
I think this add-on is just a quest for money from Ubi, and it will not bring anything important to the game, and also at this rate we are going to have 4 add-ons or so , and I don't think I'm gonna buy them!

I'm just surprised how many people whine over it... When numerous expansions came out without towns, they were whining that they need expansions with towns like AB. Oh they also whined about forge, later about conflux. Now they whine about Dwarves...

No towns - bad, 1 Town - also bad, give us 2... I wonder if there will be another town with expansion will they whine that 2 towns also isn't enough ?

Heroes 5 is not a clone of Heroes 3, if we want to play Heroes 3, let's go and play it, I don't see any reason why we should get barbarian town and I don't see any reason why it should be Heroes 3 in 3D, not mentioning that it's already so very simmilar to Heroes 3 in gameplay, micromanagement, chaining, etc...

Please stop the whines and give something constructive, not that "I hate bla bla bla"...

Geeezzz....

I'm not whining or anything , just saying that it is more a marketing move than an improving the game move! The new features are so few, that I think they should give it for free, as an update or something! And you should mind your own bussiness, and let me express my oppinion, whether it's a good one or a bad one !

Difference is, Aculias, that pointing out things that could be better not necessarily is "whining". I love Heroes 5. I think it's a great game, it looks terrific, it runs smoothly, it's coherent, and the internal game mechanics makes sense. That's not saying there aren't 100 things that I couldn't imagine to be better - cause there are, and I think it's valid to point them out - but that's got nothing to do with "whining" - quite on the contrary, I think if nobody speeks up and tells the developers what could be better, how should they ever know how to improve the game?

And frankly, if you don't care for the talk, why don't you just go somewhere else and .... ..?

Aculias I haven't been waiting for this expansion for a long time, you don't know what you are talking about... The expansion is pretty useless in my oppinion right now!

A patch with new heroes ( 2 classes of heroes(might hero and magic hero) / town )  would have been much more usefull.
