In regards to Meteor Shower, it needed a nerf in duel mode.  Not sure how it fairs in a regular game.  I haven't played many online regular games.

But duel mode, it was definately overpowered.  You'd have people with no talent or strategy just blasting your army with it over and over.  They could completely destroy you in just a few turns.  That's not fun and it's overpowering.

Actually for all of the new multiplayer maps; they were initially

planning to release them but the AI in the maps had problems (not that there aren't any problems with AI now)and so they decided not to release it. In fact, one guy in Celestial had modded them to be playable.

I'm very glad they nerfed meteor shower, because it was almost impossible to win against Warlock in multi who had that spell (or impossible to loose if you are that lucky Warlock )
I don't know about your idea of late game, but in most multiplayer games late game is 5th or 6th week I'd say.
Empowered meteor shower, dealing, say, 1200 dmg, to an 5x5 area, was just too good.

Is there any potential issue with having played the first 4 campaigns with v1.2 installed and playing the last 2 campaigns with v1.3? I would think the only possible source would be the cross-over heroes. Anyone with such knowledge?

It's too bad the game's auto patch feature spits out the following error after downloading the patch:

Trying to download version file from http://patches.ubi.com/all_products_cab_files/heroes_might_magic_5.cab to C:\DOCUME~1\<deleted username>\LOCALS~1\Temp\ubi2C.tmp.

Succesfully downloaded version file.

Found update for targets (Heroes5, US, p1)

Trying to download update file from http://patches.ubi.com/heroes_might_magic_5/heroes_might_magic_5_1.03_us.exe to C:\DOCUME~1\<deleted username>\LOCALS~1\Temp\ubi2E.tmp.exe.

Succesfully downloaded update file.

Verifying downloaded file's CRC: 19098caa vs expected bfeb9e7b.

The downloaded file CRC does not match the CRC specified in the version file.

The downloaded file had an error.

Is anyone else getting this error?

(Something similar was already posted in another thread)
It seems several people got this error. So far the explanation seems to be that the auto update doesn't work properly if there are mods installed.

I have no mods installed. My game is as pure as can be; installed right from the case and patch 1.1 and 1.2 installed. No more.

hmmm....

OKay, ive read a good portion of this thread, perhaps i missed it.

I've manually downloaded the patch(1.3), i have heroes installed, and all previous patches already installed.

It tells me that heroes is not installed.

Now perhaps ive downloaded a patch for an incorrect region. Can anyone tell me which belongs to [USA/North America]?

THANKS,

wierd!

Thank You. I now have the 1.3 Patch installed!

However: When i doubled clicked on my H5 desktop icon to start it up.. i got this message:

--------------------------------------------------------------------
You are trying to start a copy-protected application which requires the original disc to be in the CD/DVD-ROM drive. Please check to make sure your disc is an original.

If this message occurs, although you are using the original disc, please check if the correct communication mode is being used with your drive. Please check if the DMA mode is enabled by using the Device Manager

Open the Device Manager.
Double-click IDE ATA/ATAPI Controllers to display the list of controllers and channels.
Right-click the icon for the channel to which your CD/DVD drive is connected, select Properties, and then click the Advanced Settings tab.
In the Current Transfer Mode drop-down box, select "DMA if Available" if the current setting is "PIO Only." If the drop-down box already shows "DMA if Available" but the current transfer mode is PIO, then you must toggle the settings. That is:
Change the selection from "DMA if available" to PIO only, and click OK.
Then repeat the steps above to change the selection to DMA if available.
In case the hint given above didn't solve your problem, please send a SecuROM™ analysis file to support@securom.com (see Support Info section on how to prepare and send an analysis file).
--------------------------------------------------------------------
But, my disc isnt a copy!

hmmm.. well i reinserted the disc in the cd drive... and i hit "run" from the heroes menu to start it up... and it worked just fine.. i dunno if it will do it again tho.. just thought id put this out there.
