HC Masquerade Party, Take 2
Please read this post carefully!!
I will keep updating this post with important information, so refer back to this if you’re confused or forget something.
The Basics
Concept of the Masquerade Party: All attendees create a new account on an agreed IM handler. We set a time and date and all go into a chatroom, talk, and in the end, we guess who each other is.
Time and Date: I’m going to throw out 3 times/days for everyone to choose. Like last time, please rank them in order of preference, AND indicate which times are NOT POSSIBLE for you.
1. Friday, October 13th, GMT 16:00
2. Friday, October 13th, GMT 21:00
3. Saturday, October 14th, GMT 6:00
Go here to see what time those are for your time zone. (Note: Some math skills are required. )
IM Handler: I would like to use AIM again, since I am familiar with its functions and can help members when and if they’re having technical issues. It for some reason, you absolutely refuse to use AIM, let me know.
Contact TimeKeeperIris: Once again, when it’s nearing party time, TimeKeeperIris will be online. IM me and I will send you off into the chatroom where the party will take place.
Changes From Last Time
Length of Party: Instead of a 1 hour party, I’m going to shoot for 2 hours this time.
Common Theme: All things this time will be related to the common theme of FOOD. (I'm hungry. Sue me. ) This means you need to make a Screen Name that has to do with this common theme.
Room Rotations: I will try to work with this one, but since I’ve never done it before, it could get a little messy, so bear with me. Once the party starts, everyone will chat together for 15~30 minutes. After that (depending on how many people show up), I will split up the attendees into 2 or 3 groups for 15 minutes at a time. And finally, I’ll bring everyone back together into one big chatroom for another 15~30 minutes.
Things I Need From You
1. Tell me what time zone you are in, AND if whether there’s Daylight Savings where you live. (This gives me an idea on how to adjust the times if all three listed above are bad.)
2. Rank these!!! (And tell me which ones are possible or impossible.)
-Friday, October 13th, GMT 16:00
-Friday, October 13th, GMT 21:00
-Saturday, October 14th, GMT 6:00
3. Tell me if you want me to reveal the attendees at the party (e.g. AAA, BBB, XXX, and YYY are present).
4. Make a Screen Name that pertains to the theme of FOOD. If you do not follow this rule, you will be forced to make another SN before you are allowed into the party.
5. Spread the word!
A Few Rules
1. Follow the common theme.
2. DO NOT guess who anyone is in the actual chat room. Send personal IMs for that.
3. You do not have to reveal your identity to anyone until the end, if you choose not to.
4. Feel free to pretend to be someone else in the chat, but do not lie on IMs.
5. Please DO NOT use hard to read fonts/colors. *coughcough*MightyMage*coughcough*
AIM Instructions
(Mostly copy-pasted from last time.)
Downloading AIM: Go here and click on Download Now.
Installing AIM: Please follow the simple given instructions.
Getting a Screen Name: Run AIM, and it will prompt you to get a new Screen Name (SN). Confirm and make up something. Here are a few tips and things to keep in mind.
-The point of the masquerade to have fun and confuse people. Therefore, it's recommended that you make a good disguise for yourself so that it isn't obvious who you are. Feel free to steal other people's names. This means if you see something like ExplosiveAddict, don't assume it's Tina.
-Feel free to steal trademarks (I don't know what else to call them). Legend loves to use smilies. Pecu has amazing spelling. If someone abuses smilies to no end, or cannot spell anything correctly, it doesn't mean it's them.
-Get your screen names early! Good ones are always taken.
Getting to the Party: Follow these instructions when the party starts.
1. After you sign on to AIM, look at the bottom of your main window. There is a "+/-" sign with the words "Setup." Click on it.
2. Now click on "Add Buddy" on the bottom, and type in "TimeKeeperIris."
3. Now click on "Return to Buddy List."
4. I should be signed on around that time. Double click on my SN, and say hi. I will send you an invitation to the party.

I just have a small request for participators. If you could pick a short easy to remember name for the party I will thank you for it afterwards. (of course all the short ones are taken so I recommend doing a short one and then adding a space and then some gibberish afterwards. for example Loompah_87gye)

I'm GMT +8. So none of those times really work out perfectly, I guess I could be there midnight friday (Time 1) or during the day on saturday (Time 3, which would be harder)
And I guess I could use AIM but I've never used it before.
awesome idea btw. must have missed the first

Thanks for the responses.
Please read up to the red and rank the times. We have a little less than a month to fix up the logistics and stuff. Thanks.

1. GMT -5; there is DST in Texas but it will not have occurred by this day (IIRC), so it really doesn't matter.
2. The only time I could make it:
-Friday, October 13th, GMT 21:00
3. I dunno if they should be revealed. It'd be harder to guess, but the wrong answers would be pretty funny to see. I don't really care either way, though.

1. GMT + 2 maybe soon +3 or +1 it's almost winter time
2. I can make all of them because I'm a lazy bum.
3. Yeah would be much easier, of course that I won't be there just to guess people but to enjoy the process itself
P.S Would be real hard to guess AntiPaladin:

I'm very sorry, but the party really needs to be postponed. I didn't expect this much work this early on in the semester.
On the plus side, when we do have it (early November?), there won't be any confusion with daylight savings.
I'll keep everyone posted on what's going on once things calm down a bit.
However, if anyone is interested in hosting the party for October, you're welcome to take over the planning.

Okay, my hell weeks are over for a bit. Let's get this rolling again.
One thing at a time. I need to find a good time first. Again, I will list some times for the party, you rank them and tell me which ones are not possible. On the other hand, I know there are people who like to make surprise entrances, so, if you want to come but do not want to reveal this to the public, HCM me with your time preferences/availability.
Possible Times:
1. Friday, November 11th, GMT 17:00
2. Saturday, November 11th, GMT 21:00
3. Sunday, November 12th, GMT 5:00
Now that we don't have to worry about daylight sayings, converting times should be a lot easier. Either way, go here to check your time vs. GMT.
When it get close to party time, go here to watch the countdown.
It's the coming weekend!! Let me know SOON which ones are good by posting or HCM!!!

Why did you post this in Tribunal? Most *normal* people don't spend 24/7 reading through every HC drama in Tribunal forum. In fact, most *normal* people never visit it. If this wasn't the 3-rd most recent post, I'd never read it.
