Thanks for enlighting me on monoliths I only saw the two so I did the stupid thing and figured you cant have way points this will make the map even better with random monoliths and so on.Hmmmmmm 8 castle win victory.....? I'll check into the scripting to see if I can locate that if not all races start with one castle later on during your travels youll come across the 2 other towns in your vally that have become tainted so all in all you'll have three castles to your race.

Now as far as the tainted people go its based off humorous drugs illegal brewing and other things that are looked down on. The humans seem to be the greedest followed by the Acadmy due to the fact their the ones that did all the digging for the other races into Dragon Hordes. Heres a taste

Sylvan=Gambling....elves seem to be allways placed in this area O.o

Haven=Arena gladitor games and some minor drug dealing O.o

Acadmy=Colections agency trying to get other races to pay for caves.

Warlocks=prostitution

Demon lords=illegal brewings and Major drug traffic

Necro=Mafia >.< and dont worry Necros will have a handicap due to the ability to grow large quickly but not a major one But then again 10k skelton archers wont be to much of a threat it'll be the higher lv creatures that will count in this map.

Tear being random I'll look into it if not the main location will be hard to clear so youll more then likly be out of your vally with everyone else so it wont be a easy task to just send a runner to dig it.

Lord of the rings now once I get alittle more comfortable with scripting "this map editor is tough in many ways" I'll begin one well after this map

So far I have Sylvan and Haven placed and built on map 1/4 done O.o
And by the time I get this map done I'll have my modem and I'll send it to the webmaster to do as they wish plus you can msg me and I'll email too. If I get it done earlier I'll just bring my home computer to office to link up.
LOTR is going to be a nasty project may take a month to make a real good map, but its been many years since I made a LOTR map on HOMM3 so I'm looking forward to it............hmmmm HOMM5 doesnt really have the monsters and creatures to follow it O.o going to be very interesting. Maybe once orc goblin race and dwarves come out I'll make it

One last thing you'll have a clean 6 open slot player besides the one you select at begining to place all 6 skills. You'll more then likly get the skills all in and almost capped before you venture past your Garrison "main garrison is a nonremovable creature garrison" You can pass it but wont get far due to newts in way. Killing the enemy will max them out LEGIONS
Shackles will be placed in reach in your home vally but guarded so as to keep moron AI in battle I tested the two allready on map out and in month 3 we both had evil armies however the bastard ran >.< what a waste,went to his side and of course all his castles empty so Ai likes to dump all troops on one guy but I'm happy to say he did collect everything in his vally Like I said before this is a multiplayer map for friends if you play with ai they always dump their entire army on one guy
And as far as building your castle up dont worry on the highest diff you will have no problem getting your needs met.And you can feel safe that up until month 5 you wont have anyone knocking on your garrison after that you may have spent to much time building a army "knock kncok whos there? Necro.....Eh you just killed my garrison? yes and the new addition to my army is very nice ty" So do not let that necro hit your garrison thats the only bad part >.< but lv1 monsters are not the backbone to this map it will be 4 and up that will matter.

Last last >.< thing so far I have got plenty to add into map from this thread but feel free to suggest away with ideas and what you would like to see in maps.Before I head out one bit of advise read the signposts in map

Hehe, glad to have been of help .

I've checked out the Tear and placed it on the map I'm making (which, by the way is shaping up nicely; did the surface area this weekend, polishing it now and then I'll also flesh out the underground area). You can place it somewhere and specify a radius. The maximum radius you can specify is 20 . In HoMM3, you could specify a radius that would cover the entire map (so it would be totally random), but here it's a relative small area.

The Editor Manuals show a listing of possible map problems that you need to check for; one of the conditions specifically mentioned is whether there are more than 8 cities on a given map . That's a pity, because while the map I am currently making is Medium sized (136x136, with 8 cities), if it worked nice I wanted to make an XL version with at least 12 cities, possibly more. But alas ...

Last night I placed player 3 with 9 towns, I couldnt give the the extra towns specializes BUT it allowed me to play with all 9 on player 3 so it'll be ok just have to scroll right on your tool bar to see extra towns O.o

Oh ran into a brickwall on clean six slot char seems if your a necro well you get necromancy w/o question but as for a main char with two slots used I have removed the 2nd one so all in all there will be a prison with main special race char locked up in prison with 5 open slots "like Findon had attack basic and it would limit you on unique skills....not anymore"
Necro's will not have a edge most creatures in your vally will be same class as your own so necro wont be getting extra troops off of killing undead newts and as far as "blank" whats that main necro guy % undead always join......wont happen so dont worry unless its week of the dead and random skels around him join.

Here's a list of problems I have not been able to solve from map check.

Certain players have no names "even though I change their names"
Building has craig problem x/y "this one baffles me O.o"
There are more then 8 cities on map"game doesnt crash lets you play"

Yeah the name thing is screwy, the craig thing seems to not conflict with game however its annoying seeing problems on a map and not being able to resolve it. So what did I do I'd remove the building and place it somewhere in same area hoping craig problem wont pop up and presto it works but sure is annoying. The craig thing seems to be conected to the level on which you place buildings if map is completly flat you'll never see this problem unless you build a water wheel incorrectly. But in this map I have Haven on a high plateau and there is this problem at first were I placed the two other towns so I played around on what space I had and it finaly was clear......then I had single title items that would give me same error....so I moved them around till it was clear >.<
If anyone knows what this error is and how to FIX it please tell me this is the first time I've ran into this problem

I've run into that craig-intersection problem as well. It doesn't seem to be game-breaking by any means, but well, it's an error message nonetheless, so something must be wrong?

I had it even occur in a simple test map. Grass land, no underground, all flat. I cut off the top left corner with a river/sea (just used the "lower" option with a 3x size brush) and placed a Academy town in the corner, with a Haven town on the main land. I didn't perform *any* other terrascaping and the Haven town was pretty far from the water edge.

Map check revealed the craig-intersection problem around the Haven town? How odd. I tried to raise the ground, flattened the ground below the Haven town, rotated the town, etc ... but whatever I did, nothing worked. Then I simply moved the Haven town to a nearby (still flat and untouched) spot of land and the problem was gone. Very weird.

Going to bring computer later tonight to office to upload some images to see what everyone thinks, dont worry the screen shots wont give away the map more or less to show you HOW FLIPPIN DETAILED this is >.<
So far each races area is costing a day each to develop"8-10hours". And the Acadmy is where I'm at right now top part formed mine shafts still empty. 1/4 done Haven and Sylvan are complete Acadmy almost placed............yeah some people will say why not create the terrain and then place things much quicker
No thanks I make my maps bit by bit following a strict paper design sort of like a giant puzzle where all the peices come together. Then afterwards I comb over the area for more detail. Just found out you can make whirlpools do same thing monoliths do so this map is going to be one hella voyage.
Ran into some weird problems with prisons seems once you get past 2 prisons they tend to spit the guy out into a random location o.O so for your 2nd main char w/5 clean slots he'll be by starting location just not in a prison. Seems the third prison also inflicts on subtr entr making there code location go void.....like I said I usally make maps that are simple this one is by far from simple I'm running into weird issues left and right most are easy to fix others are plain weird.
Watch once new expansion comes out with cleaner map editor all these things will be in the past >.< 1.5 hours till closing time so I'll be reposting images for you guys to see later on today

Ive had two map Ideas in the past I like.

1 Across the river.
You and your neighbor have lived in peace for many years,in an unspoken truce. But when your nieghbor builds a brigde, you prepare for invasion, and a swift counter strike. [secretly the necromancers built the birge to weaken the twos forces, and bolster their own, then conquer both.

1 A contested land.
[this is like a 6 player version of the above] You have come to represent your nation at the contetes land, a place where the territory is touched by the tips of the five nations, with a blood death pit owned by the necro's in the middle. [secretly the necromancers have an army to the south, and have much the same plan as above.]

Yellow = Academy, Light green = Haven, dark green = Sylvan, purple = Dungeon, red = Inferno, grey = Necropolis.

Mabey you can add in the dwarves if the expansion comes out soon.
