Games with Scions... I don't know. Go look at some old RPGs of Final fantasy or something. Or some shoot em ups. Archon is the new name for the priestess. So they are definately different from the templar. templars are large nagas with no retal, teleport and meditation. archons have shooter, caster, divine presence and wrath.

archon may actually mean a ruler, but what im saying its
1) deeply overused
2) generally its used for a different meaning
3) GRAND is not a very original adjective. its a bit boring.

Just pointing out....
I don't think having a Monarchistic name as a description is any wrong. Think of the King Cobra, or King Crab, Queen Angelfish, etc.
anyhow.. that is just a side point

Archon isn't overused. The only unit to ever use this is in Starcraft. Maybe Diablo. And the adjective Grand Archon is great cause no one else has used it before. Like Grand Marshall of the armies. And speaking of originality Leviathan-Ancient Leviathan ain't exactly original. Which is why I'm suggesting changing it to:
Leviathan-Emperor Leviathan (like penguin-emperor penguin, not to say that these leviathans are rulers of leviathan kind but more of a name given by the naga to distinguish between the two species).
Also for the Tear of Asha building I suggest changing it to Nexus of Shalassa

and why i dont like grand? because i already know an upgrade is grander than non-upg, grand doesnt really tell me anything about the unit. viper->cobra zealots and lizardmen->chameleon have good upgrade names. id want a similar thing here. not just some GRAND.

Mage, Ranger, Paladin, Priest, Druid are all names that are overly used. I don't see anyone complaining about using those names.

thats because these classes mean exactly the same thing here in homm. but in the abovementioned games, archon means more angel or demon.

The reason games use Archons for angels is because with demons you have different kinds of demons so much so you could make a whole faction with demons. you couldnt make a whole faction out of angels because you wouldnt have enough units. so they include archons and stuff like that as angels.

People have an inkling to what archons are. Herosphexes? No one has a clue what those are. People would prefer names they are familiar with.

Archons are NOT angels. I have no idea what gave you that impression. All the archons I have come across were leaders. Even in starcraft, the archons were units that were nothing like angels. Its a title. Like Duke or Baron or Count.

I AM NOT SAYING THEY ARE REALLY ANGELS. (they should be either demons or rulers, if wanting to be accurate with history)
im saying in every other game they are angels. see the list i made. most of them have archon based on d&d archon, in which it is a celestial do-good humanoid. i dont like they made archon into angel(as i hate most alterings of real stuff in d&d), but thats what they did and now in every game archons are about the same as angels.
why just not take some other name???

the vote was unfair.
1) archon was said first among with priestess, not with theocrat
2) its very hard to check out if all the votes are true
3) a lot of people probably never noticed such voting was going on
