My favorite is casting expert berzerk on fortress creatures coz most of them got cool specialities. Imagine the face of your opponent when his/her mighty gorgons death stares pop up......... Though the dragonfly's dispell MAY counter the berzerk spell (I haven't test that out). So maybe cast after dragonfly has moved.

Another very unbalanced spell in early version (I think the first version) is sacrifice. You can sacrifice your opponent's creatures to resurrect your own troops. It is definitely a design fault and so got fixed in later patch.

How is the Dragon Fly going to dispel a spell cast on a friendly creature?

To Adela...

The conclusion is that for some of us it works and for some it doesn't, whatever the version or episode of HOMM 3. The question is how do you feel about that? I say it really stinks...!!!

Well...

...clearly it´s a bug. Like the one with sacrifacing your opponent´s units, or that legion thing. If people still use it... my advice is upgrade that game of yours with the latest patches and do it fast

What spells you use does of course depend on the size of your army and your spellpower.  If you have high spellpower it is more useful to cast implosion (eliminate important unit) or meteor shower (if you can hit a few units) then to clone (which can easily be dispelled) or blind a creature.  It just depends of course though.  If they can't dispel then blind is superior.

And I don't particuarly like summoning elementals except in special cases.  Although fire elementals and armageddon works nicely.

Cast expert berzerk on several fortress stacks. Since dragon fly is the fastest unit of fortress, it WILL attack its adjacent stack which is most likely another fortress stack and hence dispel it. This is just what I think, not yet test it.

And I personally like summoning elementals.........by the
AI.

In one of the battle I play against an AI wizard (with 600+ spell point). He summons 20+ stacks of air elementals in that battle and finally they all turn into experience of my general...............

On the Dragonfly-dispell thing, Dragonflies only dispell beneficial spells and I don't think berserk is very beneficial.

How about Berserk, forcefield, maybe even frenzy with any (or all) of the conjuration artifacts?  A forcefield, firewall, etc that lasts for 5 or 6 rounds?  Could be handy.

Oh, and I have not personally tested any of these, so I could be wrong

Well perhaps not many experts know this trick

RESURRECTION SPELL

damn, these minotaurs got moral again (you know they always have it )so you lost your precious Angel . You have Resurrection, but no Earth at all? That's not a problem. Resurrect Angel, kill all other troops including all own troops (except Angel). After the battle your hero is not dead! Miracle wow! Your Angel is still with you.

In brief: 1 (one) unit survives even in case it was resurrected without Earth magic. Conditions: no more friendly unit alive. In case if you resurrected several stacks - then only stack with higher slot number will survive.

I wanna reward for this post lol

animate dead, anyone?

seems very very basic, but I just played a game on impossible (Realm of Chaos, a relatively easy map, I know) and started as Thant (specialty of animate dead).  I was able to get through nearly any battle with 0 casualties even against ridiculous odds.  I never encountered a stack of creatures I could not ressurect in full because I never needed a big enough army to win.  He got to about level 22, with stats around 29, 27, 47, 39.  I finally did get good transportation spells, and it ended pretty quickly afterwards, with a score of 432 (Is that high? I don't know).  The only downsides were ressurecting everyone while the other hero had only 1 stack left and guys attacking only to cast a spell and run.

432 is okay without the grail. If you had the grail 432 is nothing special.
And since someone is going to say this anyway: "It was a single player game vs the AI."

Cloning creatures with spell casting abilities is useful, before WOG I would clone my pit lords and the clone can ressurect demons. Very useful. Same theory works with arcangels... Clone them, then use the clone to heal the original stack.

Sorceresses can clone enemy monsters... A deadly idea.

Faerie Dragons, when cloned...

I just made few experiments and results are interesting and useful:

- Anti-Magic removes all non-beneficial spells except Disrupting Ray, Binding, Poison, Paralize, Petrification (Curse, Slow, Weakness, Blind, Berserk, Forgetfullness, Hypnotize, Misfortune, Sorrow). All beneficial will stay. Important! If stack was blinded and has higher speed then acting creature - then this stack will act next
- Mirth and Sorrow are not counter-spells, they work separately
- If stack of "casting" creatures has already used all their "casts", was fully killed and then Resurrected or Resurrected by Sacrifice spell - they still will not be able to cast
- "Applyed" spells (Unicore's Blind, Flies' Weakness, etc) work even with red orb
- Advanced Forgetfullness is a mass spell (game bug)
- Advanced Dispel dispels even Expert Anti-Magic
- Poison can't be dispeled, only cured
- Binding can't be cured, only dispeled
- Paralize, Petrification can be cured and/or dispeled
- Disrupting Ray can't be cured, can't be dispeled

Perhaps a single stack from strong creatures (archangels?) + expert anti-magic + armaggedon? should work quite well (in case the stack doesnt get beaten to death).
