Heroes of Might and Magic VIII: Day of the Destroyer

Wasn't sure where to put this, but I always liked the library. Nice and quiet.

So basically this is an idea I had when I saw FOG's thread title Might and Magic 7, and I thought, it'd be cool if there was a Heroes game (I chose H3 because, well, it's better) with the lore of Jadame and Might and Magic (specifically 8, because, it's better ).

Could be a mod, but, I just wanted to post it. It sounds cool to me

As for the units to make it work I had to tweak some of the lore a bit so that the towns would work H3 style, rather than just every individual unit for itself.



Instead of just castles you have cities. There are 7 cities, each with a unique race, and 3 neutral cities. Each city stands as a faction, with heroes, units, abilities of their own, like in H3.




They are:

SHADOWSPIRE:

These dark lands were scorched black during a war between the Necromancers of Shadowspire and the Clerics of Murmurwoods. The sky is always black so that the vampires of the realm can freely roam the lands without taking sun damage. They are sworn enemies of the Clerics and are experts in the arts of Dark Magic, which is a specialty to this race.

1. Units:
Skeleton Bowman-
These undead minions have decent defence and have a good ranged attack that make them valuable early on, even though their movement is slow. Ranged attack.

Special abilities:
-None.

Upg. Skeleton Archer-

Special abilites:
-Immune to mind magic.



2. Vampire-

Vampires are afflicted beings with a very powerful melee attack. Although they are slow in movement, in close combat they can transfer the Vampire disease to their victims, and are skilled in magic. Melee attack, ranged magic.

Special abilities:
-Can cast spirit lash.

Upg. Greater Vampire-

Special abilities:
-Can cast bless.



3. Dark Path Journeyman-

Masters of Dark Magic, these mages study the dark arts in order to achieve immortality and unending power. Melee magic attack.

Special abilities:
-Can cast toxic cloud.

Upg. Master Necromancer-
-Can cast pain reflection.
-Immune to dark magic.



4. Skeletal Dragon-

Powerful necromancy turned the great dragons into these terrifying dark dragons. Melee attack, flying.

Special abilities:
-Resistant to elemental magic.

Upg. Bone Dragon-

Special abilities:
-Immune to dark magic.
-Resistant to physical damage.


Heroes:

Gethric- (Might, Vampire)
A young vampire seeking adventure in his long life.



Nathaniel- (Magic, Necromancer)
A fast-progressing necromancer with a sharp tongue and an indestructible complex.



Infaustus- (Might, Vampire)
An ancient vampire, lived and faught through many wars, although tired with life Infaustus is still an expert in the ways of the vampire.



Hevatia- (Magic, Necromancer)
A revered lich of untold power. Head of the Necromancer's Guild. Leading the crusade against the Clerics, Hevatia will stop at nothing.

MURMURWOODS

The gleaming meadows of the Murmurwoods are in fact a dangerous forest to enter for the lighthearted. Deep inside is the home of the Clerics of the Order of the Sun, sworn enemies of the Necromancers of Shadowspire, they seek to destroy all Dark Magic in Jadame. They are the masters of the powerful Light Magic.

Units:

1. Dancing Light-

A glowing ball of light, capable of a ranged light magic attack. Very weak defence, fast movement. Ranged attack, flying.

Special Abilities:
-None.

Upg. Will O' Wisp-

Special Abilities:
-Immune to light magic.




2. Young Basilisk-

Fast lizard-like creatures capable of turning unweary enemies into stone. Melee attack, magic.

Special Abilities:
-None.

Upg. Elder Basilisk-

Special Abilities:
-Small chance to stone.



3. Acolyte of the Sun-

Priests of the order of the Sun who have unlocked the secrets of Light magic and healing. Ranged attack, magic.

Special Abilities:
-Light Bolt.

Upg. Priest of the Sun-

Special Abilities:
-Heal.
-Resistant to magic.


4. Unicorn Foal-

These magical creatures are rare, but their appearance is decieving, when they sense danger their attack can be deadly, with a fast moving horn attack. Melee attack.

Special Abilities:
-Water attack.

Upg. Unicorn King

Special Abilities:
-Air attack.



Heroes:


Frederick- (Might, Cleric)
A young cleric, still eager to learn, Frederick has set out to travel the world.


Dervish- (Magic, Priest of the Sun)
Dervish left his home in Murmurwoods to seek knowledge in Ravenshore, where he currently resides.


Maylander- (Might, Cleric)
Maylander is arrogant, but perhaps rightly so, as few can match his knowledge and experience in battle.


Verish- (Magic, Priest of the Sun)
Living in his peaceful home in Murmurwoods, when Verish heard of the impending Necromancer attack, he decided it was time to act, and the wizened Priest picked up his staff once more.

Light Magic







GARROTTE GORGE

The ruined castle in Garotte gorge still stands as an impenetrable fortress against the vicious dragons in the area, and the knights who dwell within use it as a base of operations as their crusade against the dragons. Although their units are generally expensive, they are individually strong, and what they lack in magic they make up for in might.


Units:



1. Cutthroat-

Although selfish and bloodthirsty, these murderers can aid in battle.

Special Abilities:
-None.

Upg. Bandit-

Special Abilities:
-None.


2. Soldier of Fortune-

Although expensive, these hired soldiers have strength in quality weapons and armour. Melee attack.

Special Abilities:
-None.

Upg. Mercenary Captain-

Special Abilities:
-Resistant to magic.



3. Dragon Hunter-

The iron fist of the Garotte Gorge camp, these mighty crusaders lead the onslaught against the dragon caves. Melee attack.

Special Abilities:
-None.

Upg. Dragonslayer-
-Resistant to magic.



4.Dragon Hunter Pet-

Kept in captivity from birth, these dragons are trained to do the bidding of the Knights, and are used as a weapon against the native Dragons. Unending loyalty and superior training make these dragons a good unit to have, although the lack the natural magic resistance of the native dragons.

Special Abilities:
-None.

Upg. Dragon Hunter Flightleader-

Special Abilities:
-Resistant to elemental magic.



Heroes:


Simon- (Magic, Knight)
A strong adventurer, Simon takes advantage of his battle-hardiness in his retirement by exploring dangerous sites.


Tempus- (Might, Champion)
Even though Tempus is still young, he is known for his many feats in dragonslaying, and his youth adds to his skill.


Leanne- (Magic, Knight)
Daughter of the famed Blazen Stormlance, her father was taken by necromancers when she was younger. Living in Garotte Gorge she promises to save her father.


Nelix- (Might, Champion)
A fierce leader and general of the Knights, Nelix leads an elite squadron of men on raids against the Dragons.







IRONSAND DESERT

The deserts of ironsand are expansive, and so many travellers find themselves rejoicing when they stumble upon the city of Rust. This is home to the trolls of the area, who live near the growing sea of fire. Led by the war trolls, the rest of Jadame has forsaken the Ironsand desert.

Units:

1. Smoke Gog-

Gogs are small fire beasts who inhabit the ironsand desert, and although they have little defence they pack a punch with their fireball. Ranged attack, magic.

Special Ability:
-None.

Upg. Fire Gog-

Special Ability:
-Fire Bolt



2. Fire Newt-

Crawling out from the sea of fire, these lizards wield a trident and fire to take down their enemies. Melee attack.

Special Abilities:
-None.

Upg. Salamander-

Special Abilities:
-None.


3. Troll Guard-
Defenders of Rust, carrying maces, these Trolls have little armour but twice the strength to make up for it.

Special Abilities:
-None.

Upg. Troll Chieftan-

Special Abilities:
-Regeneration.


4. Fire Bird-

A rare and spectacular sight, the phoenix is inspiring for it's allies and terrifying for it's foes. Flying, ranged attack.

Special Abilities:
-Immune to fire.

Upg. Grand Phoenix-

Special Abilities:
-Immune to fire.
-Resistant to elements.
-Resistant to physical damage.


Heroes:


Volog- (Magic, Troll)
Living in danger of the sea of fire, Volog's cunning has evolved from desperation.


Sethric- (Might, War Troll)
A battle hardened general, Sethric's knowledge of the mace is unmatched.


Overdune- (Magic, Troll)
Caught in the middle of a family tragedy, Overdune finds himself fighting for his life against his foes.


Thorne- (Might, War Troll)
Having left the Ironsand desert, Thorne has learned skills unheard of in the region, having trained with the best in Ravenshore.







ALVAR

The merchant city of Alvar is a peaceful place, home to the Dark Elves. But with the troubled times of late, the elves have been forced to pick up their blades and fight once more.

Units:

1. Dire Wolf Yearling-

Stronger than normal wolves, Dire wolves have been trained by the Dark elves to aid in battle. Melee attack.

Special Abilities:
-None.

Upg. Dire Wolf Leader-

Special Abilities:
-None.


2. Centaur-

Fierce and noble archers, the centaurs have been persuaded by the quick tongues of the Dark Elf patriarchs to aid them in defence. Ranged attack, magic.

Special Abilities:
-None.

Upg. Centaur Warlord-

Special Abilities:
-Shield.



3. Dark Elf Defender-

All dark elves warriors are skilled with a blade, but the defenders are the best of the best. Melee attack.

Special Abilities:
-None.

Upg. Dark Elf Crusader-

Special Abilities:
-Resistant to physical damage.



4. Rook-

These flying creatures are as noble and willing as they are deadly. A force to be reckoned with. Flying, melee attack.

Special Abilities:
-Immune to air.

Upg. Raven-

Special Abilities:
-Immune to air.


Heroes:

Rohani- (Magic, Dark Elf)
Rohani is still young and new to the world of adventuring, but her natural skill sates her keen attitude.


Adric- (Might, Dark Elf Patriarch)
Despite his attitude, Adric is looked up to by fellow dark elves as a fierce warrior and leader.


Jasp- (Magic, Dark Elf)
Jasp lives quietly in Alvar with his studies, but his knowledge gained over the years is considerable.


Cauri- (Might, Dark Elf Patriarch)
The famous Cauri Blackthorne is not only one of the youngest dark elves to be crowned Patriarch, but her other feats of bravery are talked about all over Jadame almost as much as her beauty.

BALTHAZAR LAIR

The maze-like fortress of Balthazar lair was built to last by the Minotaurs of Ravage Roaming, and although it was flooded on the Day of the Destroyer, the minotaurs rebuilt what was theirs and have gathered a powerful army.


Units:

1. Bestial Rat

These rats are no normal rodents. They are enourmous and their teeth carry deadly disease. Melee attack.

Special Abilities:
-None.

Bestial Lycanthorpe

Special Abilities:
-Poision.


2. Brass Gorgon-

The gorgons (technical name: Mightius Mooius) of Ravage Roaming have high defence for a low level unit, and also have the ability to stone, but are otherwise weak in comparison. Melee attack.

Special Abilities:
-None.

Upg. Iron Gorgon-

Special Abilities:
-Chance to stone.


3. Minotaur-

The heart of Balthazar lair, these mighty minotaurs wield powerful axes to strike their foes. Melee attack.

Special Abilities:
-Resistant to self magic.

Upg. Minotaur Warrior-

Special Abilities:
-Resistant to self magic.


4. Wyvern-

The flying beasts of Ravage roaming are a fearsome sight to all. Flying, ranged attack.

Special Abilities:
-Resistant to physical damage.

Upg. Ancient Wyvern-

Special Abilities:
-Resistant to physical damage.
-Resistant to elemental and self magic.


Heroes:


Thanys- (Magic, Minotaur)
A hearty minotaur with a strong arm and an eye for self magic.


Rionel- (Might, Minotaur Lord)
Rionel is a prodigy of a minotaur blacksmith, but has been waiting for his chance to leave Balthazar lair and adventure.


Arius- (Magic, Minotaur)
Living in Ravenshore with a mage scholar, Rionel is quite adept at self magic.


Ulbrecht- (Might, Minotaur Lord)
One of the strongest minotaur lords alive, Ulbrecht is feared by his enemies but is a great companion to his friends.






DAGGER WOUND ISLANDS

The archipelago of the Dagger Wound Islands provides the home for the ancient race of lizardmen, centred on the island of Blood Drop, where a war between the lizardmen and marauding pirates continues.

Units:

1. Young Cuotl-

The cuotl is a mystical snake-like creature with a poisionous bite. Ranged attack.

Special Abilities:
-None.

Winged Serpent-

Special Abilities:
-Poison.


2. Pirate-

Pirates from the land of regna. Every man has his price. Melee attack.

Special Abilities:
-None.

Upg. Corsair-

Special Abilities:
-None.


3. Lizardman Soldier-

Defenders and warriors of the dagger wound islands.

Special Abilities:
-Regeneration.

Upg. Lizardman Captain-

Special Abilities:
-Regeneration.



4. Serpentman-

Ancient and mysterious beasts from the Dagger Wound island's clouded history.

Special Abilities:
-Poison.

Serpentman Elder-

Special Abilities:
-Poision.
-Immune to poison.


Heroes:
N/A







That's the best twisting of a MM RPG into a H3 game. I think it'd be pretty cool, and could actually work.

where did the nagas and efreeti go?? =) the crystal guardians would be a welcome addition as well... never include cauri blackthorne's voice, it is DISGUSTING!!! *shudders* (especially when she says "the door is locked, we can't go in!")
