Ideas for Facelss Town

Some one suggested the Faceless town before, which had me intrigue.  I think the town offer lots possibilities, and can have more freedom in its choice of creatures (more original, and less from other myth).  However, I am lacking ideas for more original creatures, or creatures that could fit well into such town.  So, see if anyone have any additional ideas on it, and how they would like their Faceless town to be.

--------------------------------------------------------------
Anyway, I will also put my version of faceless as well.

For look, I seem them as always wearing hoods and robe.  They would wear a mask (float in front of their face), but underneath it, would be a black-hole like portal.

Mask

Un-mask

I see them as a race with strong tie to magic.  Most of their units would be magical caster, or with unique magical abilities.  They would be better fitted to the playing style of a “smart-man”, and not relied much on brute strength.  (which require them to have unusual abilities).

Two units that come to be are:

Mimic / Imitator
Mirror Action – Active Ability.  Select a friendly unit, and copy its action and ability for a turn.  (so if your copy unit cast fireball, the mimic will cast fireball on the same target too)
Copy (upgrade) - Active Ability.  Copy (transform) into a selected unit, with all its stats and ability, but the number of creature stack will remind the same.  (so if you have 50 Imitator, and copy a Black Dragon, you now have 50 black dragon).  This will take half a turn before this unit can take action again.  If the imitator take any damage while copy, it will revert back.

Doorman / Gate Keeper
Teleport
No Enemy retaliation (upgrade)
Portal Doorway – Active Ability.  Able to create a portal doorway, with entrance gate 1 tile next to you, and exit gate at location of your choosing.  Once the doorway is created, all creature can enter or exit from both end.  This doorway can be target and destroy.

Few other names that I think would be fitting as a creature for such town are:

Abysmal
Unseen
Nameless
Sealer
Tormenter
Shade

(But unsure of the details to go with them…)

Well, that’s what I have so far.  Feel free to write up your version.

rather well i thought, the hero looks rather scary but whats the mask for? is it an attack? eg: lifts mask and black light hits enemy troop? but still the gatekeeper sounds good. like a ghostbusters theme to it, but hey i loved ghostbusters so im not complaning.

If its ans starnge and its feels no good who you gonna call?

I think I could be passed as grade C+ Amature Artist level...
but usually I don't take too much time on them..

Two more faceless unit I thought up are a Barrier and a Puppetmaster.  Will put more detail on them later.. but I think they would work well with the other two.

I don't know if it was me who gave you the idea, but I did mention a faceless town before in the "11th town" thread. Hey are the actual faceless heroes or units? I invision them as Heroes btw. I like the picture a lot.
A doplganger might be a good name for your shapeshifting unit, but I think they need to be VERY fragile in order for it to be balanced, or somehow limit their shifting ability. Like make them transform into a stack of equal Hp or something.

A few ideas...
wanderor
Demension Walker

Beholder (pst, a beholer is a gatekeeper I believe)
Evil Gazer

Death Hand

This would also be a good place to add more mysterous and dark versions of...
Sphyx
or
Cyclops

As they don't have to be brutes necesarrily.
A good level 7 is
Absorbing Shadow
Consuming Void
It could be like a living magical force, created by ancient forbidden magic. It might require the sacrifice of a high faceless mage's life in order to create, explainng why it is scarce.

Addtional Creatures

Whisper Guardian / Silent Warden
Magic Barrier: Active Spell: 4 mana:  Create a Barrier around it self (2 tile around).  All creature within this barrier have physical and magical resistance increase by X%.  (the X id depended on how many Guardian in the stack, up to max of 50%)  The Barrier only last as long as 1 turn before need to be recast.

Shadow Wall: Active Spell: 4 mana:  Create a Obstacle on the battlefield that is 3 tile long and wide (cross shape).  This wall can be targeted and destroy, and its hp depend on how many guardian in the stack.  This wall last as long as 1 turn before need to be recast.

Shielding Barrier (upgrade): Active Spell:  6 mana:  Create a Barrier that would deflect and absorb all damages.  The amount of damage the Barrier can absorb before break depend on how many creature in the stack of the casting Warden.  This Barrier will also break if the casting Warden took any damage.  The Barrier only last as long as 1 turn before need to be recast.

Magic Mirror (upgrade): Passive Ability: 33% chance to reflect all magic spell cast on them.

Puppeteer / Doll Master
Shadow Puppet: Passive Ability:  Puppeteer will always appear with one additional unit, the  Shadow Puppet.  The Number of their stack will depend on the number of the puppeteer stack. They have same imitative as the puppeteer, but have a stats of their own.  Their movement and action are independent of one another (like two different units)  Puppets themselves don?ft have hp and can not be kill.

Additional Note on Puppet:  the puppet?fs number is link to the puppeteer.  So if the number of puppeteer decrease (kill), so are their linking puppet units.
The puppet is link to the puppeteer stack.  So if you field 2 puppeteer stacks in a battle, you would also get two puppet units.

Binding String:  Active Ability:  Puppeteer can bind its target (2 square away), making them unable to move (but they can still attack)  The binding will be broken if either the puppeteer or the bound target receives any damage.

Puppet Master(upgrade ability):  Active Spell: 18mana:  Temporary control a target living unit.  The control will be over prematurely if the Doll Master or the control subject receive any damage.

Consumer / World Eater
Black Hole:  Active Spell: 8mana:  Create a Black hole on the battle field with effect area of 3X3 tiles.  All in its effect will be pull toward the center of the casting spell (will move the creature in ward, unless is block by another creature or obstacles).  The damage deal is depended of the number of the caster casting, but have a radial effect (the more toward the center, the greater the damage)

White Hole (upgrade ability):  Active Spell: 20mana:  Effect like the Black Hole, but have a 5X5 tiles of effect area.

Vacuum:  Active Spell: 4mana:  Pull a target unit (friendly or foe) towards your direction.  The number of tiles that creature will be moved depend on its distance and number of caster in the stack.  It will also reduce 1/3 of their build up imitative.

Strategy

Notice how many of the abilities will end when the caster or the casted creature take a hit.  This means need a lot of well timing and coordination between each unit to pull it off.
Some combination that I was thinking of when making the units are:

World Eater + Mimic:
Let mimic Mirror Action the WE, and have WE cast White Hole.  Not only will it double cast for twice the damage, but since the first white hole will pull the enemy creature together, the 2nd cast will do better damage.

Puppet Master + Guardian:
Cast Barrier on the puppet master, and use puppet for attack.  As long as the barrier can be kept up, you would have a un killable unit on the field.  (Or use to guard the Puppet Master spell)

Double Guardian:
Use to Cast Barrier on one another.

Puppeteer + Consumer:  Use to bind a on coming enemy.  First let puppeteer go up close to bind an on coming foe.  Than use the Vacuum to remove them from the dangers.

ETC?c

One of the counter strategy is to bring lots long range shooter, and break them off into 2 or 3 stacks, and use it to shoot the unit that is casting to break up their ability.  Having several stack of rushing flyer will help too.

Production

All those units would be all the same type of creature, the Faceless.  Their stats won?ft be that great (possibly somewhat comparable to the mage), but it their ability that is deadly.  As a way to make them even more unique, I am thinking they won?ft have creature levels in the usual sense.  So beside the level 1 and level 7 (which is still uncertain), their growth rate is a pooled and combined.  They are only assigned to their units types when in hiring.

So for example.  First you build a Faceless production structure in your town, which say gave you a initial growth rate of 8 Faceless a week.  You than build the building necessary to ?gtrain?h the different faceless units, which allow you to hire those units, but the number you can hire is still taken from that pool of 8.  So you could hire 4 World Eater and 4 Doorman in one week, but than you can?ft hire more.  Additional buildings will increase the growth rate of Faceless too.

--------------------------------------------------------------

That is it for this update.  Yes, some of the ideas are too complex, and too ?gunique?h, but I am just trying to make them a bit different to play.  I am sure several ideas are unbalance too.  Well, it is still under development, and many things (like lv 1 and lv 7 creatures, hero/racial abilities) are no there yet, but it?fs a fun thought exercise never the less.  Might try to add more as inspiration hits.

Feel free to critic, suggest, or post your version up as well.

Ahh, why did this thread stop. I really liked where this town was going. Exept that I think having a single population for all your units would have some balance issues. I think no matter how you slice it, the town would be either too strong early game, or too weak late game. No, every unit must have it's own population.

Not much people seem to like it.. or talk about it.

I do feel lots balance is require.. but agian, I am just going with something more unique than most.  Afterall, Faceless just seem so exotic.

But feel free to post your Facelss creature line ups, or ideas for them.
