I'm not saying that the behemoths of H4 look terrible but I do think they looked much rougher and massive with that gigantic head, huge sawtoothed mouth, and grizzlebeard. I think it's just that rodent head making them look like weak sniveling sewer rats.
I think behemoths were my favorite creature in Homm3 and I guess I've adopted that image as what a behemoth would really look like. Damn those MuFu's were kill.

Because creatures looked a lot more cool in that engine then in this one. This one maybe more "realistic" (if a fantasy game can be realistic) but realism isn't=cool.

In h3, behemoth looks "ugly" but cool and suit the barbarian style of Stronghold very well. It is one of my favorite creature, after titan and thunderbird, in h3.
From the h4 pics released so far, behemoth looks "ugly" as well as "stupid". LOL, how can such a creature being one of the most fearsome thing.
I think it has little to do with game engine but maybe just taste of the design staff. Hope they would change their mind later.
Having a new game engine is good coz it can "probably" speed up the game especially the multiplayer game.

It's funny how people have said 'they suck' and 'they suck' and more things along the same line, but for once I really wish Incubus were here to let you all know what a real 'Behemoth' should look like.
If you ask me, a Behemoth is just a fantasy version of a Yeti or the Abominal Snowman in HoMM3 and 4. A BEHEMOTH should be HUUUUGE! The term 'behemoth' merely means 'something gigantic' so the developers and graphic designers can quite easily take the liberty of making the creature look like whatever they please (I'm sure nobody will argue with this logic, lol!). Some serious development needs to be put into what a behemoth looks like. I, for one, think that they should be 'not humanoid' in appearance and should have the ability to perhaps morph into different things (imagine a level 4 creature which could morph into a solid wall when you click on 'defend'!) They probably shoudl be the biggest creature in the game too, just to enhance their fierceness and their namesake (how does 4 squares sound?!)
Come on guys! This is the Altar of Wishes! Tell us what you would like of the Behemoth!

Personally, i like the fact the NWC tries to give the creatures from HoMM3 that reappear in HoMM4 a new look. Ofcourse this can't be all for the best, there will always be changes you don't like, but think of this: if all the creatures had retained the same look from heroes3 would you like the game more? I wouldn't.

Actually the clasic "Alpha Flight" Sasquats is by far the best I've seen...
anywayz, Behemoths are not Bigfoots or Yetis or anything... they are way bigger..

Behemoths.. I never liked them very much.. They have not perticular looks.. They all look different..
Just like Rocs And Leviahtan..
You have 3 giant kinds
The sea has Leviathan(A giant white wale,Kraken,Plesiosaur or giant mosasaur) I use the Mosasaur model because that one just looks so cooL!.
The Air has Rocs.. Giant birds that always looks different.. From the 3 Leviathan roc and Behemoth is roc the most giant.. In homm is stupid!!!!!!! Those rocs are not even baby roc size!
Behemoth.. mostly look like saurus...But Homm did something cool with them.. Anyway.. the Behemoths are ONLY elephant size in the MIGHT AND MAGIC GAME!!!!! Very tiny for a behemoth.. Altought the smallest of the 3(roc levi and behe) they are Titan sized!(Immagen the roc how big that one is!!!!!)
Many people always say the Dragons and titans are strongest.(and the pethetic angel and Devil) But thats not true.. Behemoth leviathan and roc are the masters of monster world.. They eat Titans and Dragons.. Because they don't even see humans.. They are to small for them.. Black dragons never even make a chance against a behemoth or a roc.. Maybe a Diamond dragon that can't break...But no FLESH based creatures make a chance...
HOMM games should make this 3 creatures their ULTIMATE creaturs..No Pethetic ice dragons.. That can't even beat a Manticore in real mythology.

We can't really say who is strongest in "real" mythology because in heroes they mix a lot of diferent religions and myths that are not related with each other, and similar creatures can be very diferent in diferente places. For example, a roc can be like wyvern said but I think what he told is from a old chrystian myth that says that god created 3 creatures so huge and powerfull that could destroy the world only by coupling so he destroyed the female of each creature so they couldn't couple, but rocs, in arabe myths (in "one hundred and one nights" to be exact) they are huge birds that hunt elephants (real one, not the myth ones), they are still big but can't destroy any world.
So we can't say that Dragons are weaker then Behemoths in "real" mythology because they just come from very diferent places.
