CASTLE
1. halberdier - the toughest level one unit.
2. marksman - the most effective level two unit.
3. royal griffin - an excellent unit in all aspects.
4. crusader - they are really tough, especially in large numbers.
5. zealot - good for its price, ranged option...
6. champion - greatest special - 5% damage bonus per hex.
7. archangel - do i need to explain? (after heroes1 and heroes2, this is a gift for all those who played with the KNIGHT faction)
i couldn't think of a bad creature. perhaps, taking in consideration the statisitical data, that would be the zealot? but it look cool

My opinions are based on playing on an XL large using the Random Map Generator.
For me, my favorite town is a toss-up between the Castle and Conflux.
I think the Castle, overall, has the best creatures. Some people believe the Black Dragon is more powerful than the Archangel. The Archangel lacks magic resistance, which is a weakness (especially against high level Implosion), but having them in an army is such a boon. Most importantly, they're the fastest creatures in game. "Speed is life" is quite that often comes up in the taverns! Plus, their positive morale on fellow troops and their Resurrection ability is helpful.
Champions/Cavaliers are also great Level 5 creatures.
Plus, the advantages of having a Stable is often underestimated.
I also think Sir Mullich is one of the more powerful Hero's in the game that frequently overlooked. Again, speed is important, and he gives all of his creatures a + 2 speed.
Worst Hero... I can't remember them all right now, but if I had to pick one of the top of my head to avoid, it's the Hero that specializes in the First Aid tent.
Every town obviously has their pluses and minuses, but in terms of creatures, I definitely have to go with Castles.
On the other hand, Confluxes, especially at higher levels, are great, in my opinion, for a few reasons:
1. Artifact Merchants- if you have really good artifacts available for purchase, this can make a huge difference. Of course, you need luck to have the right artifacts available (nothing like having the last artifact you need for a Combination Artifact show up) and money
2. Water/Ice Elementals- I think they're the most powerful Level 3's.
3. Magic University- Implosion, Slow, Resurrection/Animate Dead, and Town Portals are among the most important spells. They're all Earth Magic. Expert Earth Magic (along with Wisdom, of course) is absolutely essential. Air Magic is very useful to have, too. Magic Universities are good to build if for no other reason that to ensure that your Hero can acquire both Earth and Air Magic.
4. On the flip side of things, I think Earth/Magma Elementals are the worst Level 6 creatures available. To me, they're nearly useless.
5. In terms of fav Conflux heroes, I like using Monere or Lacus.
Generally speaking, any Hero that specializes in skills like Eagle Eye or Scholar is useless.
I like Hero's that specialize in missile creatures or Archery. I also like having Saurug (gems), Sephinroth (crystals), Rissa (mercury), or Calid (sulfur) early on in the game, regardless of what Town I'm starting with, for precious resources. I won't necessarily use them in combat... usually just have them roam around exploring and acquiring more resources, but having those extra resources early on, especially if you're playing an XL map on the hardest setting is a definite plus.
All is this is just my humble opinion... hope it all makes sense! :-)

Tell me the town and the reasons that why you choosed it + the best creature, the worst creature, the best hero, the worst hero, advantages and disadvantages of the town overall.
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
Personally it's dungeon for me. Because of it's creatures' strenght and useful buildings.
Best creature: Blackie Ya' know 1 of them + armageddon = sticky. Other than that they are fast and strong.
Worst creature: Unupgraded harpy for me. It's useless that it has no "no retaliation" ability and a bit low speed.
Best hero: I don't remember the name, but the one who starts with resurrection
Worst hero: Jeddite after WoG. I hate the demolish town script and always turn it off.
Advantages: No really bad creatures, Mana Vortex and Battle Academy is always handy, along with artifact merchant.
Disadvantages: Medusae has a few shots, Minos are slow and immune to all spells ability to Blackies also blocks blessings.
Now say yours

Very close between Fortress and Tower. Yes, they don't have much in common. If I had known, nobody voted for tower, I would have done so.

I believe there are only two heroes in the game, starting with the slow spell. Geon is one of them. Slow is one of the most powerful spells in the game. Playing a game with no access to slow is a pain. If I see Geon in my tavern week 1, I usually hire him. Away from this, he is crap, but just because of this starting spell, he is far better than many other heroes. Of course, someone who thinks a scholar is completely useless, probably doesn't get the maximum out of him.

Rampart:
1. Centaurus captains are cheap and come in large numbers
2. Dwarves -- pretty useless
3. Grand Elves -- excellent shooters that one can have plenty of early in the game to get all resources quickly
4. Pegasi -- fast and furious
5. Dendroids -- good to protect the shooters, or take some hits, but kinda slow
6. Unicorns are fine
7. Golden dragons -- fastest L7 creatures (behind firebirds)? Allow to use mass haste/slow first, which is often crucial to the outcome pof the battle.
Rampart has a Resource Silo that produces resources needed to recruit L7 creatures, it also has the Treasury that boosts your revenue and ability to build Magic Guild to all 5 levels (which is sometimes useful).

I kind of disagree about these 3. Centaur captains are quite expensive for a level 1 unit (the most expensive one, actually, if i'm not mistaken)
Dwarves come by 20. You can build up a pretty good and tough stack for the final battle. They, along with dendroids, are the so-called damage-absorbers.
Hm, GOLD DRAGONS are slower than fenixes, archangels and archdevils. And sometimes blackies on familiar ground go before them - take this into consideration when attacking utopias in the underground...
