I don't think it's cheating to have to have the AI not target your black dragons. Would a player ever do something like that? No they wouldn't. So the AI should not do it either. Remember most people want smart challenging AI, not idiotic ones. There is always a beginner level difficulty to play one if you feel the need for reduced AI though. But I still shudder to think about how stupid the computer was in H2.

I imagine that spells in H4 will be boosted in damage significantly, though it will probably now be harder to wipe out lvl 4s with magic. In H3 magic was the best way to kill high level troops since it ignored defence. Now that big creatures have high hps instead of defence they will be less vulnerable to magic.

I do remember how great it was in H2 having titans absorb all of your enemies spells and attacks so you took no damage. That doesn't happen in H3. The enemy is much smarter and battles tend to be much bloodier and more challenging (even if the AI is still rarely as good as a human). That's one of the many reasons why I think H3 is far superior to H2.

Interesting Commentary

As usual, Djive is an excellent and insightful poster(and mod too).

This thread has some interesting commentary on historic HOMM dragon-related immunities and aritficial intelligence. If you would like to join a more detailed dragon-related discussion please check out the alternate dragon thread entitled "Dragon Utopian Alignment":
