Theme Hospital

Hey people, have any of you played Theme Hospital?

I have got it and have started playing it again, I think it is aan awesome game, humourous, nice graphics, good cinematics and of course good gameplay.

What do you all think of this game?
And does anyone have strategies for this game aswell, I shall post mine a bit later when this thread starts getting going

Definetely awesome. I paid big money for it back in the day. Didn't pay that much for a game ever since, and I still think it was worth it. Although I haven't played it for quite a while.

The de/inflating machine was always heaps of fun. I remember how I always laughed at the stupid doctors who had to diagnose the bigheaded guys for such a long time before they knew that hmm, yes, the patient seems to indeed be suffering from the ONLY illness with such symptoms, which also happen to be hard to miss. Same goes for slack tongue and many others.

I love those diseases, slack tongue, alien DNA, hairyitis (one of my fav ), Bloaty Head (another fav), Transparency, Invisibility, King Complex, The Squits, TV Personalities and many others.

I like the descriptions of the various diseases aswell, which can be found when yo research a new disease, it is rather funny aswell

Currently I am playing on the 9th level.

There is something funny though, when you do not have the facilities or havent researched a particular disease yet, you can send the patient to the research department, and they will be sent down into that thing, but this lowers you're hospital reputation lol.

Well yes, but first you need to get yourself a research lab with the autopsy device.

It is kinda morbid though, sending a live patient for autopsy

I actually found that you make a better profit in the long run if you have at least one death. If one patient dies, you will miss the +$10000 cash bonus at the end of that year. However, since there's one patient death to your name, this causes the cures-to-death ratio category to come into effect at each year's end. So if you keep everyone alive from then on, you'll get several thousand bucks for the cures-to-death ratio award in addition to the ten thousand bucks for the no-deaths-that-year award.

Correct me if I'm mistaken, but I think it works that way...

And if you already knew about this, then good for you...

I restarted the game and now I'm on the #'th level. The one where you start with three consultant doctors and you need to train your juniors before much time passes. This game is really fun, but it could be a whole lot better. I can think of many things that would shape it into a much-improved game.

There will never be a game that is perfect, so ofcourse there are many things that could perhaps make it "seem" perfect for some gamers but it wont be perfect or whatever so just be happy for what you got

Do you mean the 3rd level Guitarguy?

That is an alright Level, but I like it where it starts getting more variety of diseases, instead of just slack tongue, bloaty head, the squits, etc etc, the other ones like Transperency, Baldness, Alien DNA, Hairyitis and all them, is where it really gets interesting and more fun to play in my opinion.

But I really do hate those Earthquakes, they can ruin you're hospital pretty easy if you do not have the handymen's priorities set more towards the reapirement of machines.

It can ruin a really well thought of hospital within seconds, but there is always time to repair them but it is all part of the game, so I have to deal with it

No, I forgot which level it was. Maybe 5, but I'm not quite sure.

Alien DNA

Yeah, that's one thing I'm talking about. Alien DNA patients only appear through an emergency. That kind of makes sense, as do all other emergency cases, but it would've been cooler if these martianoids just showed up like the standard patient.

That's what I find really dumb. If a room explodes, you can't do anything to remedy it. If I can rebuild miles of city smashed by Hannibal's elephants in Caesar 3, do they mean to tell me I cannot fix one little messed up hospital room? Come on.

Hmm I was just curious because you wrote that you were up to the # level and maybe you may have held down the "shift" key while pressing it down, maybe you were trying to type in the number "3" or something

Yeah thats a bit of a shame that it only appears during Emergencies, because it seems a little strange that suddenly there is an emergency of it, but not a regular patient without an emergency, if that makes sense?

I agree with you, perhaps you should atleast be able to replace the room or totally delete it and build something in it's place.
Perhaps the damage could be temporary also, like a usual repairing for the handyman, it may take a little longer to fix the entire room or whatever.
That would be cool if you could though, perhaps get the whole room repaired, or be able to delete or replace the room.

*blank stare*

Hoyle Casino Empire is like an up-to-date Theme Hospital, only with a casino theme rather than that of a hospital. There's a feature where you can hire gangsters to visit a rival casino and smash the place up, or hire clowns to lure the rival's customers to your casino instead. It's an interesting feature, and I can imagine it happening in a hospital setting. Eh, perhaps it's better that they left it out...

That would have made the game a little too complictaed then it is, although TH isnt complicated that much at all

But it would be nice to be able to place litter bombs into the Rival Hospitals, you can get the Litter Bombs on later levels during the game, and it is rather fun, although an annoyance to clean up because it spryas the area with rubbish, and it takes a little while to clean up but it isnt that bad.

But maybe this would have been good, to be able to place perhaps 5 litter bombs into the Rival Hospitals.

Making the Rival Hospitals visotrs and guiding them to you're forum would also be a cool feature.

Perhaps there could be an advertisement thing, you could advertise you're hospital into the newspaper or television, mainly to gain more reputation and more visiotrs (more visitors means more cash $$$$) and you could advertise to attract people to you're hospital.

That would have been very cool feature to have had in Theme Hospital in my opinion.

Another feature that could have been is this:

Ever played Rollercoaster Tycoon?
Well when you make those signs or banner sor whatever and you make it say "no entry" or something like that, well perhaps you could have that to place in you're hospital.

Make a no visitor's zone, making only for Staff Rooms, Research Department and Training rooms.
This would be a much better layout hsopital, and would be better for the flow of the hospital, easier for the docotrs, nurses to move around and easier for the workers (docs, nurses and handymen) to be able to get into Staff Rooms.

Perhaps you could use this sign thing to make visitors turn into certain areas, like if they wish to go to the toilet, then make a sign pointing to the direction of the toilet, so it will be easier for them to find it or whatever, although they seem to find everything extremely easy (the patients I mean), or make signs saying something like "no vomiting in the corridors" or "thanks for visiting" or something like that.

That would be a good feature aswell.
