very important information...but i could'nt anderstand how to use this runes.... are they for only one day and i cant use them anymore? and how i can activate them and what i need for the activation? pls help me.....

just watch the battle screen carefully...around the atb bar there are the runes also ... every creature has the possibility to use a rune on itself, of course by spending the amount of resources, only once / battle, more if you have special abilities ... the runes are really great because you don't waste a hero turn or a creature turn, and they have the effect of some powerfull spells. the downside is that you waste resources, but the costs aren't that big, so they are really great

and there is the fine rune skill. and the runecasting guy. In the end you will cast the runes for free 90% of the time.

The problem is getting the correct runes from the guild. You may receive some crappy ones, which is not good. The best are rune of berserking(huge damage), rune of resurection(wonderful one!), rune of thunderclap (great with skirmishers, almost totally disables even fast units!) and a few more.

yep ... these runes make you wonder why they are so cheap ? when the mini artifacts are so expensive

Runes are pretty cheap used once, two times and so on but they may become expensive cause their effect is one-turn-long. I think that runes are pretty ballanced and problem is elsewhere - mini artifacts are a bit too expensive. I'd rather Ubi made their cost like 4 - 8 - 12 or 3 - 6 - 9/10.
What about runes - i think that most important rune at the beginning is the rune of charge. It's really important to reach enemy shooters as fast as possible n this rune gies opportunity to do it in one turn.

I am still interested in hero's leveling priorities - which skills to choose?
N how would you develop your city during first weeks? (at hard level of resources n heroic of difficulty )

I have found Fortress very strong in the end game and possible the strongest in the game. It's just incredibly powerfull to play whit Runes and in end game you have enough resourses to make those trible cast runes whit no problemo.

Only downside is the early game when mosth creatures needs to be upgradet before they come good enough for your army. Also the town buildings casting are huge and i tough they have made Dwarven town the weakeast when creature dwellings needs so mutch gems. If there aren't gem factory around you are in troble when both lv6 and lv5 creatures buildings needs LOTS of those resources.

Magma Dragons are quite powerfull and really hard to kill in battles. Dwelling can be made on second or third week when resourse silo is made.

Heroes: Brand: 70% change (+1% per every level) that no resourses are used when activating runes! Very good but in end games the casting dosent mather. Good hero for small maps for sure!

Karli: Skirmisher speciality and starting whit ammo cart is very good! Possible best Dwarven hero.

Ebba: Blackbear Riders i like very mutch and they are strong from their level and boosting their attack and defense really helps. Blackbear Riders may come really powerfull whit Ebba in charge. (Was nice Duel hero aswell)

I remember that one time when in last HoF mission my thanes with battle rage hit a chain of 5x1,5K enforcers four times, totaling 14K damage, or 824,5 dmg per thane (without luck). Endgame, storm strike +rage/berserking can be a killer on tightly packed formations.

I've just finished an epic siege against Fortress. My main wasn't able to kill all the shieldguards and capture the town. I had only animated units left, so she was defeated. The AI would have recruited a new hero in the town, who would have those 1.5k guards again. So I had to bring in a secondary hero to attack the town on the same day.

When I loaded in order to try different options, I also noticed an interesting feature: the defender, who lost all his "real" troops but won the battle thanks to the guards, disappeared from the town. He returned to the hero pool. Now, the interesting feature is this: while I was waiting for my next turn (while the AI was playing its), a pop-up window appeared! That hero gained a level and I was asked to choose a skill. The following day I was able to recruit him in my tavern.

I've checked: if the hero who disappers gains a level but does not appear in your tavern, you do not get to choose his skills.

EDIT: In addition, I've tested what happens when you defend the town, lose all your "real" creatures but win the battle. Your hero gains levels and get the enemy artifacts, but disappears from the town. You can recruit him in the Tavern though. He will have one guard.

Is this a bug: my Ebba had the Ballista ability (which is supposed to restore this war machine after the battle); but she didn't have any when I recruited her again.

Hmm check out Ingvar, who shines above all the other faction heroes with similar tier 1 specialty, and not to mention Helmar as well.  Fortress heroes are one of the best, worthy of their creatures imho

Ingvar is not so good compared to sinitar, jhora, nur, dougal, vittorio, deleb. So that second hero with sacred hammer.

You should check Carli then. Build citadel, bears, spearwielders in week 1 and upg the bears on the first day of week 2 and you'll see what I mean If you also get warmachines and focus on these two skills you'll have some nice offensive capabilities.

Karli is another good one indeed.  As for Ingvar, he shines above the rest of the tier 1 specialists because on top of the +1 to attack and defense ratings for every 2 lvls of the hero, he also adds +1 hit point to each defender and shieldguard for every 5 lvls of the hero.  I played a map that has Ingvar as the endgame boss, and the shieldguards under him have 22 hit points each!

Look, Ingvar and his massive shieldguard stack in day 2 can kill almost anything with few losses. Be it melee or ranged. The funny thing is that if you allow the enemies to hit you first from as far as possible you have even less casualties
My favourite is Carli though and by a long shot. He can even get preparation which along with a runic triple ballista/or destructive(rarely) and luck->soldier's luck, maybe dwarven luck is just crazy. He does not even need to upg defenders as his spearwielders with ammo cart can get the job done! On week 2 you charge with blackbear riders and spearwielders(citadel built) and just stun around! Very disruptive.

If you get Charge rune.  What is is the % chance to get it?  I know that I don't always get it...also thunderclap (rune) doesn't trigger that often for me although crippling wound (skirmisher) does trigger fairly often.

Personally I like the hero that learns the runes when leveling up.  No chance of missing the best ones.
