NEW feature is now available! Many of you know that players normally create lots of rules in order to make game more balanced. These "player-made" rules are sometimes incomplete or just not clear. That may cause lot of frustration. Also, it's hard to remember exact rule set for each player and it's too long to discuss all precise rules each time before the game. As an example, i could remember 4 page discussion about 1(!) rule - Hit&Run in this thread. I added to WCL websiteRule Profile page that allows to store rule settings for each player and each template. It will require you 1 time to set profile and next time you will just open it to refresh memory in 1 click! Try it now, i hope it will be useful :-)

There some rules i find disturbing the gameplay.
i.e. going around a misplaces creature to get a thing, should be allowed! Fleeing should be allowed too.

This way every noob can win over experienced veteran player just because of random luck factor...imagine unguarded relics or open way to treasury zone...FMG is really important rule and unfortunately there is no possibility to fix such bugs of random map generator.

I guess that you speak about rule #9? It's tricky rule...Perhaps i will change it to "not allowed to die/retreat/surrender more than by one hero when attacking non-upgraded guards with upgraded stack inside (that guard zone, critical object on map, etc) ".  By the way this bug was fixed in TE (Tournament Edition) version of homm3.

Or perhaps you are talking about Heroes 3 Complete Edition (or Platinum Edition)?

lol no Cosmin, it's not Complete, it's new better version of homm3. The problem is that it's not official version, so manual is not translated into English. I do translation, but there are 35-40 pages so it requires time. This version will be the future of homm3, i'm sure. "Non-typical hit-n-run" bug was fixed like this way: un-upgraded guards never have upgraded stack inside. Maybe later developers will be able to fix bug completely.

Developers? Future versions?
Who is doing all this stuff? I recall that 3do Company who created Homm3 doesn't exists anymore... Or maybe some individual guys are trying now to add new features to old Homm kit? And this would have been something unofficial...Would you be kind to give some links if any available, so I can read more about it? Thx in advance!

Well this definately sounds interesting, but I dont think many people who are playing online have this version, that will reduce the possibilities of playing games alot :/.

Anyway this means we should spread this to as many ppl as possible ^^.

eliteleader, every version of heroes can be patched to play online, so im not sure which version you are talking about?

I am talking about this, acctually this is not a version but just something like WOG but less detailed

And what I meant that because it is quite new, only a several ppl will have it.(mostly ppl from here I think? ^^)

More and more people install it. Also, it's easy to switch between SOD/TE if you follow instructions. So, i see no problem at all

- no Red Rush (Red player can''t attack Blue or flag blue's unguarded town on Day 1 of ANY week after Red has bought some NEW army (in any town or dwelling) or Red has hired new hero)

- no Hit & Run (Fleeing or surrendering from combat is not allowed for the first 3 rounds if you have done more damage to your opponent than he has done to you (HP). You are allowed to flee/surrender in any situation if that is the first action you take. Not allowed to use magic level 3+ by prison heroes level11 or higher.

About RR - What difference does it make if i buy a hero or army in my main castle for some reason ? Unless i use them against my opponent i see no point in this. Besides , can i take his castle and buy hero/army AFTER that ? It is practically the same thing, just the action sequence is different.

About HR - This is the rule that is most hard to be strictly difined. But i think that HR should apply only to the ATTACKER , not the defender. So if someone attacks me with my hero having only AA for instance and implo most of them , according to your definition i can't cast an implo with more dmg on his units and then retreat. This is pretty much ridiculous. This way i practically can't do anything that can compensate the loss. I have to either cast something with less dmg or flee without doing him harm. Also, in big battles how do u imagine we can calculate the whole dmg both armies have inflicted ? So if i have delivered 5432 dmg and opponent 4955 it is not allowed for me to retreat despite the fact that his army may be bigger or better suited for the particular fight. Luck and morale also count in this calculations ?

This rule was done to prevent attacking Blue after breaking zone guard. For example, if you break with help of NEW army, then it's easier to defeat guards. However if u break with only old troops - it's ok to attack Blue after it

This rule is definitely very complicated, i bet everybody has own opinion about best formula I can advise you not to stay without main army if your opponent can reach you perhaps i will ask TE developers to make automatic damage calculation, though it's not easy to do and i don't know when it can be added into the game...Fortunately, it's H'n'R situations happen rarely, so you don't need to calculate too often

Random Discovery and Native Heroes sub-tournaments go into final stage, starting on Friday, September 14. 8 players with highest ratings (counted on September 13, 8p.m. CET) will participate. During qualification rounds (2 weeks per 1 game) each player will play 2 games, then there will be single-elimination semi-final and final. If rules differ from default WCL rules, then players must write them clearly in game comments. Additional game confirmation will be required for these games.

ANNOUNCEMENT 14 Oct 2007 :
there are some interesting statistics about heroes like number of games/win/loss and indicator Power Index which formula is: 2*W+0.5*L (it indicates that hero is popular, selected often and strong vs other heroes). About 1300 games were analyzed. You may find statistics on WCL webpage : STATISTICS

Hey SAG, why dont you transfer WCL on defirent hosting and if possible with new, better domain.

I personaly will be glad to donate for the cause. I suppose the domain+ hosting will be no more thant 50 USD for 1 year. I think it will be not a problem for some of us to donate and have the site alive.

thanks for proposal it's possible to transfer, however it's not easy to move all these files and databases and cross-links. Let's wait 1-2 days more...holidays are over now and i expect that WCL will be up soon
