I'd consider it only when faced with lack of any other alternative. It will get you nowhere and I don't like testing my opponent's patience either. Offensive tactics make for a more interesting and varied game.

Yes I'm sure. You will be long dead by the time you accumulate 900 overseers. There is no way to drag a game out that long against a decent opponent.

what do you mean by this, more specific?

Patch 1.5 which will arrive this week will allow you to record your battles and then replay them when you want (at least that's what it says in the readme)

It's possible if both the player and the opponent skill is very equal, or you can sign a peace treaty to fight at late game or super very late game (year 2), it's too boring to wait, but the battle is very bloody, and btw, inferno is very serious problem here againts magic users, it can accumulate great legions of familiar (if there is 2 castle or more, if i'm not mistaken it's possible to accumulate about 2500++ or 3000++, with more than 2 castle their number can reach 5000++ easily), and all heroes knowledge is limited when their level are not increased any more while the creatures growth never stop to increase, the greatest knowledge i've ever seen is about 900 (with arties and booster), by the time it reach 900, 5000++ familiar laugh at them, another big threat is sylvan and ofc haven, but i fear inferno more than sylvan and haven, especially if they have urgash call (or worst, urgash call and pendant of mastery), but to reach this superlate game and urgash call is a super boring thing.

After certain analysis I am sorry to say that Necropolis looks like the last faction in the game. But that's on paper, because it is my favourite, even from Heroes 3, when the mighty Dread knights crampled everything in their way. Play with Necropolis guys Wraight fan

It's a way of speech. You will never get to 900, but if you did 5000-10000 imps can surely take away your mana. By the way, when making a map is it possible to pinpoint an enemy hero? I mean he walks only a certain square radius, or doesn't move at all.

If you play like that, you're not playing competitively. Of course you can sign a peace treaty if you want to, but it's much more fun I think to actually try to kill your opponent when you have an advantage. Obviously at year two, imps > magic but well, why bother :/

As for if both players are of equal skill, well you might have a lot of close battles and neither can defeat the other for a bit (although I doubt it will happen for too long if you play aggressively) but that still means that you're losing troops -> you can't have 900 overseers.

That still means you're playing badly, because if its a close battle, and you don't have all your troops with you and lose or draw because of that...

How did I know you were actually going to say that? lol

The idea is, a few Horny demons won't have much impact, it's ok if you don't place them. That's generally true for low level creatures

They get better with time though.

Sure, I can see that maybe you have more use for army slots to split creatures than you do for a few demons, but 900? Long before you got to that many, you would be in a situation where you would be silly not to place them. Then you either win, or lose them.

Anyway, I guess you're a mind reader

@Doomforge & ZombieLord: ah yes, i mean 900 mana (with booster + inteligence).

@Pomo: My point is that there is many way to make the game longer, and one of them is peace treaty, as for equal player match, i don't care about that 900 horned overseer, because that's not my point. Indeed that is not competitive play, but it's for you, each player have their own style of fun, i never do any peace treaty in my true game, i only do that to test and do some experiment what if the game continue to more than 1 year and more, ofc i can only do this peace treaty with my brother and my friends.

hard to say, I sort of like them all. Well, except for dungeon, but thats more of a personal bias.

In the end, I have to go with Necropolis though. Even though Necromancy is fun (I actually prefer the new system. Better a variety of troops risen than ending up with 10k skeleton archers), the troops are individually weak and the easiest neutral mobs of their tier to creep. Except Archliches and Ghosts without any decent offensive spells. By the way, is it just me or is it just plain impossible to raise Skeletal Dragons?

I have to agree on the elven racial though. While 2 of the 3 subskills are nice (I love Imbued Arrow and Imbued Ballista on top of that ^^), the whole favorite enemy system is just way too complex and unrewarding unless you know what is coming your way. And it's even more fun in campaign missons without cities. Or duels, although I'm not sure how it works there, if at all.
The faction itself is pretty okay though, except for the insane amount of lumber required to build a city.

I've posted these somewhere else, but just to keep you informed:

This is week two. Now tell me again that inferno is weak in EARLYgame. Sheesh. Or go and try to do that with "uber dungeon" in week two.

ok..lets set a thing true. That is daleb.I can do the same thing with Vittorio from Haven. Is very very easy to beat anything as long as the hero is specialised in balistta and has balista from the beggining. Your victory dosent proove anything because if you take other hero you wont win as easy as that. Same at Haven. And cmon...we all know Daleb and Vitorrio can rush very good No offense needed you are still a better player than I do.,

P.S: Sorry for my english.

Deleb's speciality is a lot stronger than Vittorios. I mean, 2 free fireballs every turn?

That said, of course Warmachines - Ballista is very strong early game when you only have about a basic week growth worth of tier 1 and 2 units and maybe a sole tier 3, and a related speciality is even better.

with vittorio first aid is the real gold mine for ultra aggressive creeping, because it prevents attrition.

I'd say weakest is sylvan.  they just can't creep.  any map where you can get to the other person w/in a week you can exert major pressure on the poor sylvan.  his creatures are pretty good in final battle, but to get there w/o a level and unit disadvantage can be tricky.
