Blocked from the beginning
Several heroes, inluding some in the campaigns are blocked from the beginning in pursuing the ultimate ability.
For instance, Findan, the main hero of the Sylvan campaign starts with Tactics which means he can't ever get Flaming arrows, and therefore never Natures Luck either.
I wonder why Ubisoft has blocked so many heroes from getting this ability, and you could also ask why these abilities are there at all. For the first it is very difficult to get, and with most factions there are many sacrifices trying getting there (Warlocks have to give up destructive magic and so on).
But why deprive the players of the opportunity to pursue this in a campaign where you very well may end up at level 30?
I wonder if Ubisoft has thought this through or just came up with some random abilities just before the release.
Is there any way to mod this yourself (or download)? For instance make Findan start with Battle Frenzy instead.

Is that from one of his books? I don't recognise it, and I've read them all.
If I remember right there is a mod out that changes heros' starts so that every one can get the ultimate, but I couldn't say where exactly. Try the mods page on celestialheavens.com.

The MOD is here: Start Skill MOD
It's pre HoF and does not include Fortress Heroes - yet. If anybody made a list of which Fortress heroes are blocked for Ultimate Ability, I could update it.

Well it's mentioned in the Discworld Companion (some sort of a Discworld dictionary), but I think it's also mentioned in one of the books... I don't remember which one, I read them a long time ago

Great Alcibiades.
So is it only to extract the new "MapObjects" into its respective place in the hierarchy?
Is that patch independent? I'm running 1.3 still because of the Gatecrasher bug.
Will be certainly more fun to play when it is at least possible to reach the ultimate skill, although I think it's not worth it for all of the factions.
Thanks for the MOD

As far as I can tell, there are only two, Ingvar and Svea.
Ingvar needs Protection, has Vitality instead.
Svea needs Master of Fire, has Master of Storms instead.

I see you have made some of the changes i dreamt off.
It is way more logical for a warlock to have destructive magic in their path, and tactics as well - makes the furies and riders reach all over
Great work, then it is hope to see those abilities in action at last

I don't remember the exact book but I think it was not too long ago, perhaps in one of the books with Tiffany Aching.

No, it was way before Tiffany. Somewhere around "Moving Pictures" I think
