Heroes Online

If you don't remember, Heroes of Might and Magic Online was a MMORPG-style game to be released in China in late 2005 by TQDigital. (You can refresh your memory here )

After a few years, it seems the game is still in development! Here's a new preview. The concept artwork is gorgeous as always.

Hm... It works for me. Actually, there's an annoying pop-up asking to install a language pack, but when I close it I can read the page. If you cannot enter the site, try the homepage and register first!

Here's some of the artwork for those who can't see it:

There's also a trailer, but I cannot open or download it. Here's a small screenshot though:

Is this 2D?! I hope I'm wrong... Not very promising, just like one of their earlier games (Era of Faith):

It looks 3D, but is it real 3D (like H5) or isometric (like H4 or Diablo)?

I've managed to download the "trailer". It's 3.5 MB, but very short (most of the movie is the site intro).

Anyway, the game doesn't look so good. It is 3D, but the graphics are pathetic, like Disciples 1 or that old Heroes clone(made in China as well ).

Is this Ubisoft trying to make a breakthrough in a large MMORPG market such as China, or another cheapass choice of a developer (such as Nival)?

What a pity.

Here are screenshots for those who might be interested:

Heh... Sir_Charles said something similar at CH:

Quote:
That's not connected with Ubisoft in any way, shape or form. From what I hear, they're actually kinda pissed about it as they've used Ubi copywritten artwork in it without permission.
However, here's what mmosite.com says:

Quote:
Heroes of Might and Magic Online is based on Heroes of Might and Magic III. Playing as a town owner, the player can raise armies inside his own town or in the wild. Through fighting monsters in the wild, they continuously improve their ability and gain necessary resources based on which they can level up their castles, recruit higher level creature and learn higher level magic.

TQ Digital have purchased the develop right of Heroes of Might and Magic Online From Ubisoft.

I love the artwork but hmm... The screenshots from the "trailer" Looks silly, so ugly and all "Dry", maybe washed to much... Sad because the artwork looks great..

Hmm: It should not be confused with Heroes of Might and Magic V, a strategy game being developed in France by Ubisoft.

Thats stands on the homepage so yes its Ubisoft whos making it , darn it. Atleast not standing anything about Nival

The concept art looks a bit asian-influenced, and it doesn't look THAT great overall... but hell, it looks better than Heroes V!

Actually the screen shots look very similar to Heroes III, which is a good thing, and all the old favourite creatures are there, not just a bunch of elf recycles

I don't know how it will all fit together, and it sounds quite complicated, but from the screen shots of the turnbased games it looks like the direction I wish Heroes V went in.

Check this out:
Champion, Knight, Archer, Halberdier
Thats a big sword

Minotaur, Medusa...
Dont know what that last one is...

One of the Heroes
Thats an even bigger sword

And the scenery
Necro?

Stronghold?

One thing though, if it's a Chinese game there might be some language barriers.

Yes the game is based on heroes 3 the project for Heroes Online is very old...

The artworks are better than Heroes 5 artworks (my opinion)

but I hate the stupid Heroes 5 comics style the creatures must be...more...realistic...

You mean Moorcock's symbol from his Elric of Melniboné? Interesting observation... But I doubt a Chaos sorcerer would be undead...

Perhaps the artist simply copied the scythe from somewhere else (or maybe it was Devil playing with his mind ).

It looks like a Necromancer to me.

edit:
I agree with you Vokial completely on the graphics.
Alot of the Dark Messiah creatures are similar and cool looking, hopefully this game will capture the realistic and cool art while keeping it looking like the creatures from Heroes III, which is what it looks like so far.

Nosferatu looks cool.
